    • Hi Jason,  you can call or text me at 808-657-8775
    • Chalkie, what brand of dehumidifier did you purchase? Was it effective?
    • Progressive has a tow clause.  It's been discussed at length, recently.  Very few agents can write this policy.
    • I've had Good Sam Platinum Plus for many years, but just read the new 2024 brochure and it says the following are NOT covered... • Commercial/business vehicles and trailers (including but not limited to limousines, taxis, box trucks, buses, semi-trucks), vehicles originally and specifically designed or licensed for commercial or business purposes (including those converted into RVs or other personal vehicles), and vehicles licensed commercially or in a business name. I'm on my 3rd commercial truck to motorhome conversion.  I guess I need to find another provider.  Anyone have any additional info on this?
    • Well, last week I went to talk to someone at the information desk at an Austin area DPS, and unfortunately she thought I knew what I was doing, so that was worthless since she just nodded her head. Today I went in and pleaded total ignorance and found out what I'm supposed to do. In theory. Note: if you're looking at this much after, say, 3Q 2024, you should probably check it out yourself because change is constant. I think the days of riding in with your RV and taking the written and driving test in the same hour are long gone. My situation is that I'm a current Texas Class C (automobile, light truck, hippy van, etc.) license holder, and I'm going for a Class A Non-CDL (some say exempt) license because I'll be driving a truck and fifth-wheel combination with a GCWR of 26,001 pounds or more, and the GVWR of the vehicle(s) towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. What I was told was to make an appointment by going to https://public.txdpsscheduler.com, sign in, and choose the Drivers License Services > Change, Replace or Renew Texas DL/Permit (again, I have a Class C). At that appointment I should bring with me a birth certificate or a passport (despite my having a valid Class C TX license). I should also be prepared to take only the Texas Commercial Rules Exam, which is only Chapter 14 of the Texas Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers Handbook. And this makes sense since, for example, there are clearance marker rules for trailers > 30' length. The result of taking a test is a restricted Class A license so that I can do behind-the-wheel training with someone with an equivalent license or better in the passenger seat of the truck. So now I have to find a warm body with a Class A to ride with me while I practice. I'll need to check with my insurance company to see what their liability exposure is should I have an accident and the other party wants to play lawyer games. I might consider a course. And then I can make an appointment for the driving test. All this is still theory. I'll let you know what happens in practice.
