    • And fortunately, we live in a country where we each are able to do things the way that we each feel most comfortable with. I happen to do things in a hybrid fashion as I do use autopay for things which do not vary or that only vary a small amount. Contrary to what the author states, most cell phone bills that I am familiar with change very little from month to month, if at all. In addition, if you track your expenses on a computer, all of the software for that which I'm familiar with has the ability to automatically enter the things that you keep on autopay a day or so before they actually go out, so you do not need to remember them. in addition, I get an email from each one of the bills that do vary to tell me what that month's bill will be so that I can easily put the exact amounts into the computer. Each of my credit cards send me a text a week before the due date to remind me and the bank sends one when each bill gets paid. Since I don't know what a beauty box is, I have no advice on those and I haven't belonged to a gym in years.
    • Hahahaha.  I can see the first snow at Ft. Devens, 1969.  My friend from Alabama had a brand new Chevelle SS 396.  His answer to a lack of traction was more gas.  He managed to slide sideways into two parked cars.  The damage was minimal because he didn't have much forward motion, but he was certainly embarrassed. Oh yes.  Remember that 4WD may make you go better, but it does nothing for stopping.
    • We have used autopay since the early 90s and never had a problem. Each person has their comfort level but I would rather have autopay than not.
    • To be somewhat fair I don't think it was bad in DFW in years past. (Many years) but the way traffic is now and the volume of drivers there now I don't think it that good on a perfectly clear weather day now.
    • If you will be on Medicare in 2022, then ignore the rest of my post. However, if you will be under 65 in 2022 and you have to buy your own individual health insurance, then read on. First, full timers need a nationwide health plan, typically a PPO plan. These type of plans are difficult to find. For example, currently, nationwide ACA plans are only available in AK, AL, AR, CA, FL, ND, and WY. I saw that you live in Brentwood, CA and used HealthSherpa to look up what ACA health insurance is currently available in your area . . .  Kaiser has a number of health plans, but there are all HMOs which I think do not have nationwide networks. On the other hand, Blue Shield of CA has PPO health plans which I believe have nationwide networks. For ACA health plans, what matters is where you actually reside, not necessarily your domicile. For example, if you get a CA health plan, but never spend time in CA, good luck.   How do you know this?
