    • Our previous in-person renewals were in Fort Stockton (him) and Brady (me), both obviously pre-Covid.  But In both cases, we just showed up and didn't have to wait long at all--maybe 10 minutes in Brady, and probably 20 minutes in Fort Stockton (they were testing a kid for his first driver's license).  In Brady, I was obviously an out-of-towner, and the guy proclaimed that he needed to see my birth certificate.  I said, "I'll be back in five minutes" because our motorhome was parked a block away.  I got the birth certificate and ran back over.  I think he was actually a little disappointed he hadn't been able to turn me away. I am glad, though, that getting the upgraded license is behind me.  I'm not sure I'd put up with the hassle it is these days.  It's hard enough if you're stationary, and much harder scheduling these things if you're traveling fulltime.
    • Got to Iowa May 28th and settled in. That's where my 2001 Gold Volvo spend the winter. Expected to have to work really hard, charging up the batteries and other things, but to my surprise the truck started at the first turn of the key today and kept running for 30 minutes. I usually only start my trucks if I'm going to drive them, but this one I'm not sure when I will be able to move it or where. It's in a pretty good spot for now.  I did disconnect the batteries and had actually planned on plugging in a "Trickle" charger, but it didn't happen. When I hooked up the batteries the voltmeter on the truck showed 11.8 so they were down maybe a bit, but apparently it was warm enough for the fuel to ignite quickly. Let the alternator work it's magic for the 30 minutes with nothing extra running on the 12 volt system.  Now to decide what I will do with it before I head out in late July and not back in Iowa till about this time next year.    Rod
    • Yes, been there. requirements are basically the same. But allowing swapping out licenses not address. When I came to Texas from NC they just did eye test and gave me license. But a Class A lot more involved. Reckon I will find out when I get there.
    • Covid changed the way a lot of things get done now. We like the appointment system in Minnesota but we are no longer on the road. You used to have to arrive, pick a number, then wait a couple hours for your number to come up. Now you arrive at appointment time and are seen quickly. Much less stress for me. Linda
    • Glenn, perhaps you'll recall that much of this type info is listed in the Resource Guide...😁
