  1. I don't think you have to be a resident of a State to be liable for income tax in that State. If you earn money in a State, it's my understanding that you have to deal with that State's income tax. So, if you worked in ten different States, it could become a burden to keep up with and file the necessary forms. I read an article once about how much trouble it was for professional athletes. Of course, most of them can afford a good CPA to sort it all out.
  2. I doubt that the 75% number will ever be achieved. There are many people who will not get this vaccination. Children are not even eligible for any of the vaccines developed so far.
  3. I don't know this, but I would guess that the only thing that matters is what the title says. In most States, the title weight is based on the manufacturer's certificate of origin. Does your title list a GVWR?
  4. From the 2010 census to the 2020 census, Texas' population increased by about 4.5 million people, or almost 17%. Maybe some of the Northerners who moved down to Texas during that period brought their snow removal equipment with them. 😀
  5. I've taken a flu shot for many years. I've never known it to be free nor mandatory. Where did you see this information?
  6. I guess I misunderstand Starlink then. I didn't think the dish had to be pointed at all, except generally at the sky. I thought the Starlink satellites were in constant motion in the sky, and the receiver latched onto a new one every few hours.
  7. George, I towed a 21' Bigfoot trailer at a little over 5,000 lbs. with a 1/2 ton and Equalizer hitch. It did okay, too soft for my liking, especially when meeting large trucks or in windy conditions. When I replaced the truck, I went with a 2500 and it was like night and day in stability. Just my experience. I would opt for the 2500 if I was buying a new truck.
  8. Wow, sounds like a major screwup. What is so special about the Pioneer radio that they would remove the factory one?
  9. Just curious, did Winnebago advertise these other systems?
  10. The most liberating feeling in my life was the day I realized I didn't need a mate to be complete and to enjoy life.
  11. I use mSecure to store my passwords. I just manually enter them, don't know if you can do it automatically. I'm not familiar with Lastpass or any of the others mentioned here. mSecure has a one time fee of $20. I use it on my iPhone, Android, and several computers. Any time I open the mSecure app on any device, it automatically syncs.
  12. You forgot to mention that I won three bets, of $.25 each. I didn't bet on Brady, I bet on that Tampa Bay defense which smothers the receivers and smothers the quarterback. Awesome performance.
  13. Those computer files sure are providing me with a comfortable living. I pay my bills every month with no problem. Haven't handled any gold or silver for many years. I do like fish, though. At least once a month I pull out my plastic card linked to a computer file and buy some fried fish. 🙂
  14. NIO has been on top of the battery swapping thing for a while now. https://www.nio.com/blog/brief-history-battery-swapping https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a33670482/nio-swappable-batteries-lease/ https://insideevs.com/news/456776/nio-swappable-battery-pack-standards/
  15. I don't know. My parents had a stained glass insert in their motorhome for over 10 years of full time travel and it held up well. It was built for them to use in that manner, so it may have been heavier constructed.
  16. I don't think it's a new way of doing business, it's just allowed some new players. For decades, brokers and investors gathered in the back room and conspired to drive prices up or down for their own benefit and to cause loss to others. Now, ordinary people are doing it on social media, Reddit, etc.
  17. You have my condolences and best wishes.
  18. I'm glad you brought it up. I'd never heard of this problem and I'm running three machines with Win10, one of which stays on all the time. I don't like Win10's knack for updating on it's own and rebooting in the middle of the night. The reboot wakes me up. I prefer to choose when to update and when to reboot.
  19. It must be pretty common. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffsb&q=windows+10+shut+down+not+turning+off&ia=web
  20. While visiting Amish country I had occasion to see a couple of small wind generators for businesses. I asked how much electricity they were making. The response was "not very much". They used a bank of batteries to store energy and the wind generator would not keep up enough to provide lighting for the building. They were using gas lighting. The batteries were powering a ceiling fan. On top of that, the wind generators were noisy, very noisy, and that was on a fairly mild wind day.
  21. I've personally witnessed three people drop their fifth wheel trailer on their truck while starting to leave. The tailgate wasn't damaged in any of those cases. There were creases in the bed sides on two of the trucks and no damage to the third.
  22. I use Amazon a lot. I've had a few shipping screw-ups. I've spent time with both the USPS and Amazon investigating. This is how I understand they happen. Your order gets filled at an Amazon warehouse, there are many across the country. Your item is assigned to a pallet. That pallet is then scanned and enters USPS tracking, even though it hasn't left Amazon facility. From there, that pallet is loaded and sent to a post office by a "shipping partner". When it arrives at the post office, the USPS tracking shows it as at that post office. Then, the USPS scans the item for the first time. If the item was not on that pallet, it will still show as being arrived at the post office along with the rest of the items on that pallet. There's a good chance that the USPS never received the item, at your post office or any other. So, the post office looks bad because their tracking shows that they have the item at your local post office and in reality it never showed up. Your local post office can do a detailed print out of tracking which will show specifically if anyone at USPS has ever actually scanned the item, but they don't always have time or initiative to do so. I'm not defending the USPS, they screw up plenty on their own. I'm just saying that, at least with respect to Amazon, many times the failure lies with the shipper before it ever actually gets to the post office.
  23. I don't think these short sellers were betting on Tesla's failure. They just looked at their stock price compared to earnings and thought the stock was overpriced and would take a hit. I'm not a big trader nor short seller but I like to dabble a bit with stocks. I'll give you an example of why I would buy or sell a stock. I read up on a company called Quantumscape (QS). QS is a battery technology company. As far as I know, they've never delivered a single battery or made a dollar's profit, but I liked what I read about them. They went public late in 2020. I put in an order for a couple hundred shares when the price was $37. I got the stock at $48. For a couple of weeks the stock didn't move much. Then, an article came out about how they had made a breakthrough in technology. The stock price went north quickly. I put in an order to sell half my shares at $108 and sold immediately. The stock eventually went to about $130 share. However, within a few days it was back down around $50. Right now, it is selling for $68. I bought the stock because I believed it would go up in value over a few months time. I sold half of my stock because I believed that after that brief bubble it would go back down quickly. I was right on both. Now, I have 100 shares of it to sit on and already have gotten more than my investment out of it by selling the other 100 shares. I will probably hang onto the 100 shares for the long term because I believe this company has a bright future in the EV and solar market. If someone wants to make money in the market and not dabble with stocks, the best way is to just buy into index funds and let them ride. Over a 15 or 20 year period they will make money like you have done. I have done that for 40 years and it has created a nice nest egg for me. I also enjoy playing some stocks.
  24. I don't do it, but it's not as risky as it sounds. Any time I buy or sell a stock I am gambling on the future of that stock. I believe either the stock is going up or going down. Short sellers are doing the same and I'm sure that many are successful at it. They've just missed the mark with Tesla at an alarming rate.
  25. Let's say that the current price of a stock is $500 per share. You believe that the price will go down to $400 in a month, so you promise to sell shares at $450 in one month. You're thinking that you can buy them for $400 and sell them for $450. If the price goes to $600 in one month, then you have to pay $600 per share to sell for $450 in order to deliver on your promise. So, you lost $150 per share on your promise. A lot of traders bet that Tesla's bubble would pop in the past year. Instead, it kept getting bigger. I'm not an educated trader, that's just how I understand short selling.
