  1. My anecdotal story. When they replaced my roof, they hung both a/c units on a ceiling beam with a hook. Both were like that for three days, basically with the front up and rear down. They re-installed them and I was using both within a couple of hours after install. They're still working fine years later.
  2. Ungava by R. M. Ballantyne https://www.amazon.com/Ungava-Ballantyne-Fiction-Classics-Adventure/dp/160664324X
  3. Yes, he reminded me of me. Just last year, I went through two large filing cabinets full of paperwork from the 80's and 90's when I was dealing in computer hardware, most of it on haggle.com and eBay. I still have all my paycheck stubs from 1970-now and income tax files from the 60's.
  4. On the flip side of this issue is the person who moves but doesn't update his new address to all his business associates. I regularly get mail for the former occupants of my house who haven't lived here in three years. I get mail from their doctors, banks, insurance agents, trade union, etc. Of course, it's illegal for me to just trash these items, so I'm burdened with writing something on each item and putting it back in the mail. There should be a way to block mail for a certain party, just like for forwarding mail. ๐Ÿ™‚
  5. My first IBM clone had no hard drive, just two floppies. I was so happy to get a hard drive later. I think it was 20 MB, not GB. I've slept since then though.
  6. There used to be a 2 tb size limit. Don't know if that still exists or not. However, I've heard of people using larger and the Wally just recognizing 2 tb. When you activated it for DVR capabilities, they didn't tell you a limit? The Wally should format it on it's own. What do you mean by the wifi connection to the TV? You can't connect the Wally to the TV by wifi, if that's what you're asking. The wifi on the Wally is so the Wally can connect to the DISH mothership and authorize pay per view and such as that. It also allows you to use some of the streaming services on the Wally, if you are subscribed to them.
  7. I'd come at you with claws and teeth also, if you had neutered me. Just kidding. You're describing the reason I don't have a pet. Some of them just need a whole lot more attention than I'm willing to give. You just don't know what kind of personality you're going to get until it's too late.
  8. I'm not sure that's accurate. I don't guess there's any way to know for sure. Of the dozens of RV parks I've stayed in, the majority of them had a large population of full timers who went to work every day. Lot's of folks living in 38' to 40' fifth wheels nowadays instead of in a sticks and bricks.
  9. Agree, but like my Daddy said, "some people just have to learn the hard way".
  10. Being vaccinated is not the only way to reach herd immunity. ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. My eleven year old laptop won't qualify because it is not "secure boot" capable. This was a high end machine which runs Win10 very well and is still very fast.
  12. For photos, there's the cloud method. Either Apple or Google photos automatically upload to the cloud and download to your other devices. I don't use either. I send myself an email like others here. ๐Ÿ™‚ Or, I connect my phone to my laptop via usb and transfer all the photos at once.
  13. Excuse me. You also said you wanted newer than 2001. You also said that they had been bought out. I thought maybe Dynamax had bought them out and this was an example of the newer ones. Pardon me for trying to help.
  14. Here's one https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2021-Dynamax-Isata-5-30FW-XPLORER-4X4-5016567412
  15. By golly, you just solved the world's problem of global warming. Since too much CO2 is depleting the ozone and causing the earth to heat up, we can convert the CO2 to dry ice. That will lower the volume of CO2 in the atmosphere and cool the earth at the same time. Pure brilliance.
  16. $41,000 to $72,000. https://forums.redflagdeals.com/hyundai-porest-cheap-rv-everyone-2392304/
  17. Thanks. I had always thought that the 7 gallons was maximum capacity, not safe fill capacity. Happy to learn differently.
  18. Isn't a 30 lb bottle 7 gallons? If you fill 7 gallons to 80%, isn't that 5.6 gallons. At $3.39 gallon, wouldn't that be $18.98 to fill an empty bottle? Have I missed one of my figures?
  19. You didn't say where you would be living. Just beware that most RV parks do not let you hang laundry out. Campgrounds are not too picky about hanging towels and swimsuits and such, never seen a full laundry hanging though. In any case, enjoy your RV life and adventure.
  20. Don't be surprised if the city/county folks agree with you, then change the code to include a ban on your "motorhome" also.
  21. It would be my luck that a hungry bear or wolf would follow me and eat the bread crumbs, as an appetizer. I don't think the story went so well for Hansel and Gretel. Maybe another example?
  22. I think this depends on location. Some States have very little public lands. Lot's of public lands are rather remote and take quite some time to get to. There is certainly an amount of time spent researching and locating these boondocking sites. I think it also matters if you want to go somewhere and spend a couple of weeks or if you're just traveling and need a spot for overnight. I just think that both methods have their advantages.
  23. Seriously? A better question would have been "is a truck camper big enough to go full timing in?". There are thousands of full timers over the age of 66. That's young, to me. Now, the truck camper? I couldn't do it, too small. But, lot's of folks do, some of whom are active on this website. Just Do It.
