Million $ Highway alternate and comparison to Trail Ridge Rd and other
durangodon replied to jules2go's topic in Travel
JMO, but anyone who finds 550 scary during Summer months, probably has no business driving in Colorado. It's a commercial route and a super highway. Now, in Winter during a snowstorm? Well, that's different. Just drive it in a natural way, looking out in front instead of over the edge. You'll be fine. I've driven some switchbacks in your part of the country which were more of a challenge. -
And, if you eat enough donuts, it'll offset the value of the vaccine. 😀

I have had THIS ONE for about 10 years, used it to wax my fifth wheel twice a year or so. I really like the fact that they can be made very small for storing and transporting. Mine is pretty sturdy, I always felt comfortable going to the top on it. Where are you located?

Simple answers based on my reading various EV forums for a couple of years. Most of the EV's are now using heat pumps for cooling and heating the cabin and also for maintaining battery integrity in both hot and cold environments. From what I've read, running the air conditioner has minimal effect on mileage range, less than what I would have thought. In fact, many EV owners leave the a/c on while they're inside the grocery store or waiting in vehicle for whatever. Cold weather does have a detrimental effect on battery efficiency and overall mileage range.

Have you asked ATT to unlock it? -
Good points. I don't think anyone is saying that the future won't be different, just in how and when it will happen. Technology progresses, with or without our acknowledgement. However, I doubt that California banned the sale of horse and buggy back in the day in order to push automobiles. That transition took about fifty years. There are States which are suggesting this should all happen in the next 10 to 15 years. Manufacturers are committing to no fossil fuel vehicles in 2030 or 2035. GM is not the only one. I'm not saying it won't happen, but there's lot's of work to do, and I don't think it will happen in 15 years. I think there are about 300,000,000 (300 million) fossil fuel vehicles in the USA today. If families convert one of their vehicles to EV, that's another 100,000,000 vehicles which will need charging. I don't believe the grid is ready for that.

That's interesting. Are you saying that in Texas you have to own a vehicle before you can get a driver's license?

Looks like somebody better get busy building some power plants of some kind. Doesn't it take like 10 years to build one? I think the real challenge is batteries, both for vehicles and mass storage. The good news is there are a lot of people working on battery technology at this time.

Idea: Dual Purpose for Lithium Motorcycle Battery
durangodon replied to Jim Gell's topic in Technical Tips and Tricks
Wow. Did that make you think about running a small heating duct to the battery compartment? Or, can you do something like that with lithium batteries? -
When the time changes, I go around and reset my clocks. Twenty minutes later I've forgotten all about it until the next change. I'm retired, but it was the same when I was working. Nothing to get used to, just reset the clocks and move on. If it's dark, I turn on a light. Now, if the government could somehow pass a law where it is always Springtime with everything green and beautiful and the climate is mild, I'm all for that. But, alas, seasons come and seasons go.

I was told that I would have to be a member of Escapees to buy property in the park. I was also told that after I owned property there, I no longer had to belong to Escapees to own the property or to live there. Was that not correct?

Wow. Is that a major brokerage firm? I've only used Vanguard, and they deliver them in late January. Of course, mine may be a lot simpler than yours. 😀

Does the antenna have to be placed outside? Just curious. My XM radio works inside, as does my Garmin GPS.

Thanks much.

I have a couple of questions about Visible please. If I qualify for the plan and a sim by using my iPhone imei, will Visible lock that phone down so I only can use it with them? I use it for my cell phone service and don't want to change carriers for that. Has anyone bought that ZTE phone Visible offers for $49? Does it do hotspotting? The specs don't mention that ability. Is it decent for data? Thanks.

I can just hear this conversation now. But Elon, this thing builds up a lot of heat. Hey, we'll just tell everyone it's to keep the snow off. Okay, yeah, great.

Am I the only one who remembers the driving safety films called "Wheels of Tragedy" and "Mechanized Death" set in the 50's on two lane highways? We were showed them in high school and then again in Army basic training.

I don't see a problem with what you want to do. I ran a gopro on my motorcycle for years with no problem, just turn it on and let it do it's thing. I didn't know you could stream it to youtube all month and use just 20 gb. I also don't know where you can get 20 gb month for $40, but a good place to start looking is HERE
