    • About a decade ago, I had a dead car battery, in a Lowes parking lot, and happened  to have towing coverage via my insurance.  A few years later, I checked a LexisNexis report and was surprised that it said I had filed a claim with my insurer (the jump in the parking lot).  I assumed that the potential increase in insurance premiums outweighed the value of the service.  So I dropped towing insurance.  But ... A few years, and my insurance company (Amica) which I had for decades, raised my rate by 25%.  No claims or tickets for more than a decade.  I was irritated but just paid it. The following year, it went up another 30%.  No claims or tickets.  I complained and got the run-around.  So I found another provider that was much less expensive (Geico) for very similar coverage. IMO, we're all subject to rate increases, whether or not we file small claims.

    • Do you remember seeing Steve's rig at the HDT Rally? He has a older 2 door jeep on a bit of a ramp, as others here have also done. I missed seeing him winch it up after the rally, but saw him tie some things down after it was up there. Here is a link to his FB group, you might see photos there.    Rod https://www.facebook.com/groups/163040000390459/user/1083517645/
    • I've never received, or heard of a call like that.  Scammers usually answer return calls - it's an integral part of their "business plan" :-).   As you probably know, 858 is a San Diego area code and 877 is a toll-free nation-wide number.  Have you been in San Diego and had a some kind of disagreement with someone there?  The "you've been served" sounds like something a debt collector might use, to try and intimate you.  As for not returning your call. Incompetence seems more likely to me than an integral part of a scam. In any case, I'm very interested in what transpires and suspect others may be too.  Please keep us updated.  And I hope it turns out to be something you can laugh about rather than a hassle.
