As I explained above in my response to Chalkie, those fobs and phones are constantly trying to communicate with the vehicle. The thieves intercept that communication and use it to hack into the car. Exactly. Newer vehicles with push button start use either a fob or your phone to determine that you are within bluetooth range of your vehicle, thus allowing you to push the button and start the car. Those fobs and your phone are constantly trying to communicate with your vehicle in order to know when you are in range. A thief within range of the fob or phone uses his device to relay the signal to another thief within range of the vehicle. However, most cars on the road don't use that technology. RV's statement that "This method works on any other brand car, gas, diesel, or EV, with remote key-less entry and starting" is not accurate. Vehicles like mine which have both keyless entry and starting require that I push a button on the fob. A thief would have to be nearby to me when I pushed the button on the fob in order to intercept the signal. Standing outside my house trying to steal a signal wouldn't work.

I never said vehicles couldn't be stolen. That's been happening since they were invented by a variety of methods. I said that 96% of cars don't have remote starting.

I watched the video, pretty impressive how techie types can come up with hacks for stuff like this. However, your statement is not accurate. Many, many vehicles have keyless entry and starting and this method would not work. It only works on a vehicle which the phone is nearby and continues to send out the code to the vehicle and doesn't require an actual key to be placed in the ignition. My Chevy pickup, for example, may be unlocked and started with a similar hack, but only if I'm nearby activating the key fob. My key fob does not send out a signal unless I push the button on it, no way for a thief outside my home to steal the code. It also can't be driven off without using the physical key inserted into the steering column. The key unlocks the column and allows the truck to continue running after the initial few minutes. The second article claims 96% of cars can be stolen using this method. I doubt that many cars even have remote starting capability.

I'm going to assume that you meant the average price for a "new" car, which is probably a little over $45,000 (that's the most recent number I could find, late 2021). Keep in mind that many, many people don't buy new cars at all. That number does not include dealer or manufacturer's rebates, which would make the number a little smaller. The absolute cheapest, bottom of the line, base Tesla Model Y is $66,000. I'm a big Tesla and EV fan. I don't own one because I can't justify having two vehicles and I need my truck to haul my RV. However, it will be a long while before Tesla builds an EV for the average person, if ever. They at one time intended to, but they can't keep up with orders for their more expensive models, so it wouldn't make sense to build and sell one with a lower price and less profit. In some areas of the U.S., Nissan Leafs are available and after tax credits are affordable at under $30,000. I was a big fan of XP until I bought a new laptop with Win7. For the past 10 years or so, I've been using Win7 and really like it. I recently bought a new computer which came with Win10. I've only been using it for about six months, but I don't have any problems with it. Other than having to find how to do some old tasks a new way, I don't really see much difference. In keeping with my nature, I'll not upgrade to Win11 until forced to by circumstances. 🙂 So, not to contradict anyone in the above posts, just curious, what all have you found lacking in Win10 that you feel like Win7 was superior? Do you have older programs what it won't run? Are you unable to perform some tasks that were present in Win7 but not in Win10. Thanks.

I replaced the battery in my Kindle Fire HDX following instructions on youtube. It was fairly easy and I was so proud of myself. Put it altogether and turned it on after charging. Touch screen doesn't work. I tried all the home remedies that people suggest, no love. I really liked that old tablet, best screen picture ever. Anyway, it's a brick now, with a new battery. Bought a new Kindle Fire 7" for $30. All I use it for is nightly book reading in black and white. One suggestion before you try to swap the battery RV. Pair a mouse to the HDX. That way, if the touch screen stops working after battery replacement, you can still use the tablet for something. I had an old bluetooth mouse I could have paired to it, if I had thought about it. Are you plugged into shore power? Is the motor running but the slide just not moving? I had electric slides on a Carriage fifth wheel. It had a manual override that you used a socket wrench to turn, don't know if yours has that or not. If so, it'll be hidden somewhere, probably close by the motor.

I've found that some vendors will create a shipping label as soon as I place an order, even if they don't have the item in stock. I get an email saying that the item has shipped, so it looks like UPS, USPS, Fedex are slow in delivering, when in reality it hasn't even left the vendor yet.

Just thought I'd add, Thunderbird is a Mozilla product. Mozilla is the developer of Firefox browser, so if you don't like Firefox, you may not like Thunderbird. I use both, and find that they keep them updated and continually make enhancements. I've had good luck with Firefox and so far with Thunderbird.

I used Microsoft Live Mail for many years. Just switch over to Thunderbird. So far, so good.

A novice is ahead of me, I only know what I read about it. I do have a mono panel which works quite well, but a poly might do better. Good luck, and share your education so it's not so expensive for the next guy. 🙂

I think it depends on what device you go to the website as to what version it offers to download. I went there on my Windows PC and it offered to download MoneyManagerEX for Windows 64. Clicking a link below shows other computer versions (as seen in my screenshot). There's also an Android version. I assume if you went to their website on an Android device, it would offer that version to download.

Okay, now I understand. No, they have no idea I'm using their software. I guess the newer versions are like yours, they were linked to the mothership and started charging to use what you already owned. I would suggest that you buy an older version of Quicken on eBay or somewhere, like my 2000 version or 2gypsies 2009 version. Only problem I see is that maybe the file system has changed and it won't accept your newer files, don't know. HERE are some examples.

I've been using Quicken since the 80's. I'm currently using Quicken 2000 Deluxe on Windows 10. It does everything I need, double entry bookkeeping. Why do you need to change or upgrade if you don't need it to be current for downloading data? Are you using it on an Apple device? Do you upload your data into a tax software program? Just curious.

With that size trailer for that size truck, I would definitely want one in the steering wheel for me and one in the dash for my passenger.
