NamMedevac 70
Thanks for the heads up alert D&J. Brannon Island SP is one of my favorites due to fishing the Sacramento River there and Rio Vista. Everything there is outdoors and campsites are mostly spaced at least fifty feet apart with no indoor facilities except the nice toilets and a large spacious five lane boat launch area. Unfortunately toilets are not self cleaning and it is necessary to protect the staff and others. Safety first for all. I will continue to use remote BLM lands in Nevada. agesilaus
I saw a note on RVTravel that said the parks in the parts of the state that are under a lockdown order are closed. I assume others are not. But looking at the list my guess is that the central Sierra region and the southern desert region are shutdown along with the coasr from frisco south. But they just listed county names so I could be wrong. The big question is what about the fed parks, haven't they been following the state's rules? Yup: DVNP Quote Campgrounds, lodging closing Alert 1 , Severity ,closure ,,Campgrounds, lodging closingIn support of the State of California's Regional Stay at Home Order, the park will close campgrounds by noon 12/7. Lodging also closes with these orders.
hemsteadc
I just got booted out of a CA state park. Again. It happened in March also. Same twisted logic of removing self-contained campers who are far apart, and leaving bathrooms open for day use. I get it.. you want us to leave a perfectly safe place and go to a crowded RV park in a city. Edited December 6, 2020 by hemsteadc

Kind of like a battle plan that mostly goes to hell with the battle starts. It is way easier to control a squad than a battalion or an army. Event squad can be really hard if you have not trained and fought together when everyone is scared witless and as navmedevac said you have to be flexible. This may not be cool but I may hold grudge for however long I live against any minister or church that fought and declared instead of trying to ask how can we help. Not to say as things progress and we all learn you can not propose constructive ways to make it better. Even safe ways to worship. This doesn't just apply to ministers and churches. They could limit the number of campers. They could make sure they're properly distanced. But no, that's too hard, so they just close them. Considering how lax they are at maintenance in these campgrounds at the Salton sea, I can understand it.

I am sure this is no consolation but the same sort of thing is occuring all across the country and giving people the benefit of the doubt it is an enormous endeavor to manage. I was told back about end of March or April that one SKP park was reported by a member for being over capacity. They were legal as they were not required to evict, just not accept more until they got down to 25% capacity. The reporter just did not have a clear understanding of the mandate at that time. agesilaus
From the news reports I've seen many Cali sheriffs have announced that they refuse to enforce this lockdown, especially the non coastal sheriffs. So they may not be harassing boondockers.
fpmtngal
As far as federal lands go, I’m hearing mixed reports from friends in California. One friend who was supposed to check into a Yosemite campground had their reservation canceled (full refund), the park is closed except for day use. Pinnacles National Park is taking the exceptions more into account - if you claim to be a full-timer looking for shelter they won’t turn you away if you have a reservation. A lot of state parks are closed for various reasons (one is closed due to fires that might otherwise be open). Theres so much uncertainty right now and it can change almost hourly, it’s very hard to count on anything, and none of the people I know were planning on boondocking. Lou Schneider
Death Valley is open for day use but closed their campgrounds effective today. But there are workarounds. Longstreet Casino and RV Resort is just across the NV border in Amargosa Valley and is only 40 minutes away from Furnace Creek. Pahrump, NV is 20 minutes further and has numerous RV parks. And gas prices low enough to more than pay for the drive back and forth.
