oldjohnt
Glenn, Likewise I have picked up new solar panels LOCALLY and from believe it an Amish dealer. Even if they may not have been quite as cheap as some online, no shipping to worry about CASH N CARRY and the little barefoot bonneted Amish girls even loaded them in back of my truck yayyyyyyyy John T
GlennWest
I would order but I likely won't be around when they come in to inspect for damage. GlennWest
Picking up panels tomorrow. Inverters shipped out today. Fixing to get busy. Going to attempt to go down sewer vent. My inverters are 500 v Mppt input each. So split solar array in twos. 5 450watt panels per leg. 2 legs. Total of 10 panels Quote 2003 Teton Grand Freedom towed with 2006 Freightliner Century 120 across the beautiful USA welding pipe.https://photos.app.goo.gl/O32ZjgzSzgK7LAyt1

GlennWest
What I am planning on is making my own brackets out of angle iron and flat bar for the end clamps. Mounting them across roof, not in line with roof length. I will be unable to put one in the middle so I intend to run a unistrut the length of the panels to catch the middle. I can run a bolt and washer in it for support. This will add some weight but unistruct not real heavy. Have racked my brain on this center support and best i can come up with. palmeris
Is the 500 voc input limit per mppt or combined? Looks like amperage rating is combined but they don't specify on voltage making me think total, so potential of exceeding 500? Uni strut going to be galvanized? Stainless steel is really expensive and I wouldn't use zinc it end up rusting. How bout that boxed aluminum channel, like 3/4 square tube probably lighter and cheaper than unistrut
GlennWest
It is 500v per unit. I could use box tube. Would have to put a well nut in it for the center bolt. Uni strut makes this very easy. Zinc coated uni strut should not rust. palmeris
Or use self drilling screws into top layer of box tube so no nut required. My experience with zinc hardware it will rust , would at least paint it first.
Darryl&Rita
Aluminum strut. Good enough for the solar panel frames, good enough to mount with. Galvanized WILL rust, no two ways about it. Use deep, not shallow, 1 5/8" vs. 1". A lot stiffer, both wise and torsionally. She claims it was a great improvement in her life. The initial work after surgery is not a lot of fun, but the pain meds made it possible. She claims that it is a must to stay after the physical therapy and you will improve at a fast rate. Miss the PT and things take longer to get back to normal. Her surgeon told her that with good therapy she would be walking good in a few weeks, but to get back to near 100% it would be closer to a year. She had limped for so long, she had to learn to walk normally again. Good luck with the knees. 2gypsies
I've had two knees and a shoulder replaced. Two weeks of serious recouping is worth it to get rid of the before pains. After two weeks you'll notice great improvements daily. I hike and play pickleball effortlessly. Putting it off isn't going to help. The older you get it becomes more serious to have surgeries. They won't improve without replacement. Go for it! I didn't get my knees fully straight and that has affected my ability to walk without lower back pain. 2 hours ago, 2gypsies said: I've had two knees and a shoulder replaced.
