  1. Perhaps, but sometimes they're wrong. Often when I'm looking a route from point a to point b, I'll get a note on Google Maps that there are toll roads along the route when I KNOW there are NO toll roads/bridges/whatever anywhere along the route. So I wouldn't necessarily trust Google Maps when it comes to this information without verifying it elsewhere.
  2. We had one of their smaller fifth wheels many years ago (we weren't fulltimers at the time). Northwood makes a very good fifth wheel, with Arctic Fox being their top of the line. I would have no problems using one as a fulltime rig. http://northwoodmfg.com/ There is a Northwood Owner's Group where you can find out more information: https://www.nroa2003.com/forum/
  3. Same here. I just had this problem for the first time. Poured some vinegar in the bowl and let it set for an hour or more then used a toilet brush to clean the opening as described by Randyretired. In my case, I had to do it a couple of times, but the bowl is now holding water.
  4. Also their sister company, Outdoors RV Mfg. http://outdoorsrvmfg.com/ http://northwoodmfg.com/
  5. The biggest problem you may have with ordering online is getting it through Canadian customs. Assuming that it will *make* it through customs, it could take up to two weeks to get, so keep that in mind if you decide to order. Since you need prescription food, I'd contact Canadian Customs before crossing to make sure they're not going to have a problem with it. And -- keep the food in it's original bag...don't dump it in a container, even if that's what you usually do.

    Alaska 2019

X2 what 2gypsies said! I can only add...don't be in a hurry. While the Alaska Highway is a good 2-lane road (except for the aforementioned areas of construction), it is not a road where you'll be able to do 65 mph or more. Besides the construction, there will be areas of frost heaves which are like going over speed bumps -- not something you want to do going very fast. Most of the frost heaves are marked by small flags along the edge of the road, but I wouldn't count on the fact that every single one has been marked.
  7. There is no BLM area around Q that is 15 miles out, either free or LTVA. Here's a map that shows the location of the free BLM areas around Q: https://www.rv-camping.org/quartzsiteaz/ The Plomosa Road area is maybe about 5 miles north of the intersection of Main & Central (AZ-95). Mile Marker 99 is about 5 miles south, maybe a little farther. The four LTVA areas are located between Mile Marker 99 and and I-10 on both sides of US-95.

    The Ranch

We've been to all of the Escapees parks, both Co-ops and Rainbow, from Texas westward except for Jojoba Hills in Temecula, CA. We've never had a problem getting a lot for our visit. Some of the parks, like North Ranch in Congress, AZ have an actual RV park for visiting members.
  9. I think most, if not all, of Verizon's smartphones have this feature. I know all of mine...mostly Samsung...have had this feature, as does my Verizon Asus tablet. In fact, it's the only way I get online.
  10. According to the Escapee Boomers' Facebook page, the GPS coordinates are: N33.76549 W114.171494
  11. Just an FYI for anyone headed out to Boomerville: They've changed locations and will no longer be at the area that 2gypsies gave the directions to. They will now be off Plomosa Road near the area where the Escapees holds their open house.
  12. One option, too, is for one of you to drive the motorhome and the other drive the car with the kid in the car. Perhaps not an ideal situation, but certainly doable and safer for the child. Although we don't travel with children, we do travel separately and have walkie talkies to keep in touch.
  13. You have to have an address, even if it's just with a mail forwarding service. Where are you going to get your mail if you don't have an address? Insurance companies and banks, for example, are going to insist on an address. That's true even if you do all your banking online and go the paperless route. If you get an annual site at some place like Tall Chief, you'll have an address (I'm sure they must have some provision for accepting residents' mail). Washington State does not accept only a mail forwarding address for such things as driver's licenses...you will need a residential address which you would have if you get an annual place at either an RV park or a mobile home park.
  14. We volunteered there for 3 months back in 2006. It was a great experience!
  15. From everything I'm reading here, it appears they have NOT given notice...too many customers who are just finding out about their closing from discussion forums like this one. That was my feeling after reading all of these responses.
  16. We use liquid chlorine bleach...1/4 cup for every 5 gallons of fresh water capacity (including the water heater). Haven't ever had a problem with spilling it on myself. (On edit: I use the same method as Linda Sand.)
  17. We used to use placemats, but now use nothing.
  18. We used to belong to C2C and RPI. I don't recall which membership we had, but I'm pretty sure it was the Classic. When we were fulltimers, we never stayed in any one spot for 2 weeks except during the winter, when we'd land someplace for 3-4 months. And we never made reservations even 60 days out...we don't plan that far ahead. The only reason we even made reservations was that it was required, but we'd call just a few days ahead. If you think you'll want to stay in one place for 2 weeks, and you want to be able to make reservations more than 60 days in advance, then go with the Deluxe membership; otherwise, I'd stick with the Classic.
  19. So, you can't request certain locals? When we head south for the winter, we change to the Tucson locals once we hit a certain area in Nevada (we can receive Tucson locals as far north as Pioche and as far west as Pahrump). Going back north in the spring, we change to our home locals once we reach a certain area. If the app gives you locals only from your current location based on the location from the phone, that would totally screw up our system. Of course, for us, it's a moot point since we are not fulltimers any longer and have a home account, not a Dish Outdoors account, so wouldn't be able to use the app, anyway. However, I find using Chat to be quick and easy.
  20. Right. When we were still fulltimers, we kept our fifth wheel on a lot in Arizona year around for a couple of years while we traveled in a truck camper. Because the fifth wheel remained in Arizona, we licensed it in Arizona. Our truck and camper were licensed in South Dakota, our state of domicile.
  21. But then there's his swapping out of license plates on his truck! That doesn't sound "spur of the moment" to me. And, as others have asked, who carries extra license plates with him? Or were the instructions to the kid to steal plates off another vehicle? I'd sure like more details about this aspect of the story!
  22. Before spending the money on a new mattress, you might want to try out a mattress topper. We did that in our previous fifth wheel and it worked out great. We now have an air bed which we both find very comfortable.
  23. We, too, have had both Good Sam ERS and Coach Net ERS and have had excellent service from each of them. But, when our Coach Net is up for renewal later this year, I think we'll give the Escapees ERS a try.
  24. Same here when we were domiciled in Texas -- or as an answer on other forms where that, or similar, questions pop up.
  25. I wonder if someone will take over his presentations? His class and demonstration was probably one of the most valuable courses we took at an Escapade. I'd hate to see it go away!
