  1. Yes Derek, now some places (government) require my SSN last 6 instead of 4 digits. Call me paranoid, but crooks are everywhere these days. We've worn out 3 shredders in the past 20 years. Now DW has some of those ink black-out rollers for everyday stuff.
  2. So that was a one-time number; thanks Kirk and Derek. That information is relieving to me. Kind of like the DoD number on retired military cards is not real, it merely give the DoD a way to link to my real ID while hiding my true number.
  3. I'm glad you post these links Derek, all I get from Army Echoes is fluff.
  4. Thanks Gary! They also have W 10 home for $19.99 and W 11 home for only $25.
  5. Kirk I just re-read my Lowes receipt, I was wrong, good catch. MY CC # appears as you say, it does have the entire RFID chip number in plain print though. The RFID chip is supposedly the latest in CC security, yet Lowes printed the number.
  6. Just this year: Lithium starting battery. It's very expensive too.
  7. re: the security chip. If you shop at Lowes read the receipt closely and don't throw it in the trash. Last week I bought an appliance at Lowes's. The receipt had my CC number on it, and the long number of the security chip! When I first read of preventing CC data from being scanned while in my pocket, I lined my wallet (trifold) with aluminum foil where folding money is supposed to be placed. It blocks signals just as well as those aluminum wallets advertised on TV. Derek, that Amazon card reader says it cannot support encrypted HID data. Is that what the small PC board does?
  8. My cousin said obtaining a building/ renovation permit in FMB was a real pain. He was going to replace a window and a door. He finally got a permit, then had to go to Home Depot and select a window and door from the "approved" list of each. Before he could install them he had to wait for the inspector to come and verify they were on his "approved" list. Then he installed them and had to wait for an inspector to come and approve the installations. Took him a month to finish the project as a result. Talked to him a month ago, he said their house is somewhere in a FL landfill now.
  9. Standard greaseable bearing hubs have a rather large cavity between the bearings. Oil bath hubs don't normally have that large cavity, otherwise you'd never completely change the oil, it would just run to the lowest point in the cavity and never get changed. Trailer oil bath hubs usually take about 3-4oz. oil each as a result. reference for 7,000# trailer axles: https://www.etrailer.com/Lubricants-Sealants-Adhesives/Kodiak/XLPROLUBE.html Which is better? Owners choice iMO. Grease is a heavy oil in a thickener base to keep it from running to the low side of bearings during long term storage. Its downside is more heat retention vs hub oil.
  10. A cousin lived in Ft. Myers Beach, she said the new codes are written so the building would withstand a hurricane. Well, it's all over the news what happened to Ft. Myers Beach area.
  11. Man, what a mistake. Just by coincidence I get my eyes examined tomorrow.🤦‍♂️ Sorry 'bout that Vlad.
  12. It's either buy the cheapie conversion kits(I didn't even know such an item was made) or the real OEM oil-bath hubs: https://www.etrailer.com/dept-pg-Trailer_Hubs_and_Drums-pt-Oil_Bath-pc-For_6000_lbs_Axles.aspx Quite a price difference.
  13. I thank both of you Derek and Kirk! That is valuable information, on which everyone should school themselves.
  14. I completely agree, and a swap would likely be cheaper in the long run than buying all the parts to do a conversion.
  15. Then even after doing all that cleaning and tightening, you may come to find the controller is faulty. They do wear out too. The way I discovered a controller was bad, I installed a temporary voltage meter in the brake wire coming out of the controller. That was an old rheostat type brake controller, not a newer electronic controller.
  16. I noted one small error in that article. Camping World did not buy out all small RV sales and service business's that now bear their name; the original owner did not change, just who operated the business. For instance, Camping World of Indianapolis is still legally listed as Stoutes RV of Indianapolis dba Camping World of Indianapolis. In Clarksville IN, the Camping World there reverted to the original owner Tom Stinnett Campers Inn RV, and is operating as such today. However Tom Raper RV (David Bane owner) of Richmond IN(largest RV dealer in IN)did sell out to Camping World.
  17. Drat_ stupid computer does exactly as told, when will AI start helping out. I corrected that hot link. This link to edmunds.com seems to explain that article about Ram ratings. https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/no-go-for-standardized-tow-ratings.html The RAM frame is 2 sections welded together just behind the drivers door on a regular cab chassis. Don't know about crew cab frames. Sorry, I'm missing a source link, perhaps it is in one of my earlier replies.
  18. I guess I'm cheap. I'm happy with my Samsung A03, bottom of the line phone, now if I could only find phone company that would make me happy___.
  19. For RV's it says 24VAC power supply or 24V power pack, does that mean it cannot be used dry camping unless one has adequate solar or wind power?
  20. This makes me curious about any relationship between a broken frame and the recent thread about RAM reducing load ratings, retroactively.
  21. Just since the first of this year I've seen this in action. I bought 2 wire racks from Amazon just after Jan 1. Now every time I open Microsoft Edge home page I see adds for those same wire racks. That is adequate proof for me my information is being sold.
  22. Go to rv.net and join, there you'll find a link to communicate with the staff of Marcus Lemonis, who owns Affinity Group/ aka Good Sam. Tell him exactly what has transpired. You may not obtain satisfaction, but everyone on that RVing website will read your statements. Mr. Lemonis is always saying he wants to know how his organization is running; complaints and communications are welcome.
  23. Apparently UT wins that pie chart easily. Indiana looks to be a distant 4 place.
  24. Humm, FireFox has a dark theme selection, does that mean it is has a nefarious intent too? I understand a dark theme uses less electricity than a light theme. (dark screen, white lettering)
