  1. Yes, I've seen many power units with a twisted frame. In videos of power unit pulls and drag races some lift the LF wheel a foot off the track.
  2. If you were close I'd invite you to come and visit, and bring your chain-saw. I have a 80' tall dead oak tree that has fallen and must be cut-up small enough I can drag sections out of the field to a ditch. P.S. I'll supply the 2-cycle gas.🤪
  3. Although this website has a learning curve, it does everything I've ever needed: One Stop Shop for Travelers. That website project was created by California DOT, then OR, WA, and a few other Western states joined the project. There are no road/traffic cameras East of Colorado as a result.
  4. I see it thanks. Must be my computer settings, I tried both Google Chrome and MS Edge, got same error msg. on them too. That is a box frame made from bending sheet metal. That is how the frame on my 1996 Dodge CTD was made. There will be a continuous weld along one side of that frame unless it was made by the extrusion process at a steel mill. They are much more forgiving about welding and drilling, as they are not heat-treated after forming. They are also much stronger than a C-frame.
  5. Your picture links says "bad request". I'd guess the corners of your frame are rounded? If so that is formed metal, forged steel C-frames (your dad's International) have a square outside corner and rounded inside radius. Yes the frame rails ( over 3/16" can be considered sheet metal or plate depending on hardness) are hydro-formed soft sheet metal, then heat-treated(cheaper to make that way), Sheet metal goes by gauge, and ranges from 7/.0=.5" to 44ga.= .0047". It requires a lot more tonnage to bend/form sheet steel vs sheet metal(different composition). That's about all I remember, unless i get my Machinery's handbook out and relearn things, I quit toolmaking in 1990. My online research has revealed the Ram 3500 frame comes in 2 parts that are welded together just aft of the front doors. So I doubt the front half requires replacement. I see from browsing this website, $17K to replace the frame is reasonable. https://www.carid.com/2019-ram-3500-chassis-frames-body/ram-oe-frame-and-components-3115044174.html Ram has a different maximum weight rating for hauling a TC, which is lower than the GVWR of the truck. I suspect it has something to do with things like this happening. Had the center of balance been over the rear axle or forward, I doubt this would have occurred.
  6. That depends entirely on the person turning the wrench, Teflon tape is designed to reduce torque required to stop a joint from leaking, but if the joint is over-tightened you are right.
  7. I agree, had he bothered to weigh his loaded truck, the imbalance would have jumped off the weigh ticket at him. In 1938 truck and auto frames were made/overbuilt, I think by forging, that way at the factory, today what few vehicles that still have frames, have one made by hydroforming sheet metal, and the factory says to never drill more holes in them or it will weaken the frame. I know my 2002 Chevy dually stated that in the owners manual. This IMO means new frames are designed as thin as possible and still meet the required specs.
  8. I'm sure he knew, but the news medial did not pay attention to detail, which is the whole point of my reply. The story was reported with as much sensationalism as possible and facts were omitted or disguised.
  9. DW and I each bought a set of https://audious.com/ in-the-ear hearing aids last November. H So far they work as advertised, I can hear the TV much clearer and voices are easy to understand now. We are very satisfied with them, and the best part is they cost $177.00 for each pair. They are rechargeable, and come with everything but a wall wort for charging, which is OK because I have extras lying around. As far as I can determine they are made in Germany.
  10. IMO the development of silicone batteries will make Lithium batteries obsolete within the next few years and eliminate the problems involved with obtaining raw materials, production,a d recycling of Lithium batteries.
  11. OK, after reading that news report, which is not an accurate rendition of the city ordnance or law; proof of that is where it says he drives 70 hrs a day.; they say "commercial' trucks and RV's over those weights may not be parked in front of a house. Evidently parking beside or behind the house is approved. Much ado about nothing for RVers IMO.
  12. Nope, ignorance hurts. Stupid means incapable of learning, ignorance means lack of knowledge. For instance I am ignorant of quantum physics, but I think I can still remember a little of college calculus. DarylandRita, What is the diameter of a 16" Load range E tire? Roughly 30½"-31", now compare the tire to bed length. That's how I arrived at my conclusion.
  13. Yup, when developers are paying over one million dollars for 1/2 acre in the urban corroders in S. FL, it's hard to justify lowering RV park prices yet remain in business. (Urban corroders are defined as the 20 miles from coastline.) 2022 was our last winter in Ft. Myers Beach FL for the same reason. We paid $1,300/month X 4 months for a 40'x25' FHU lot. Across the street that RV park was $2K/month. Weekly rates were higher.
  14. That is all over the internet, even on msn.com news page. That's a long-bed TC on a short-bet truck, with a motorcycle on a lift 6'behind the axle; that's some serious leverage. He never weighed the truck, just assumed weights, used the truck GVWR for a standard cab gas engine for his crew-cab diesel truck, and several other errors. An example: A new 2022 Ford F-450 dually 4×4 crew cab has a camper rating of 4,513 lbs. His TC had a dry weight of 4,917# on his F350. Now he is waiting on his insurance co. to cover the $17,000 damage, but they declined, saying it was overloaded and abused. I doubt at this stage he can prove the truck was not overloaded. source: This Huge Truck Camper Snapped a Ram HD 3500 Dually in Half - Here Is What Happened and How to Avoid It! - The Fast Lane Truck (tfltruck.com)
  15. Too bad, they are quality reliable units. The only reason MH mfgrs quit using them was of EPA requirements meant that basement space had to be used for clean engine equipment. Mine has ran great since new, but then it's only 23 yrs old.
  16. Wow! EV technology is jumping high hurdles, I've been watching sodium and silicon battery technology for about 2 years, It's the future of EV's IMO.
  17. I remember some quite reasonable Rv parks South of Tallahassee, but you're gonna get cold. Down the center of S. FL are also some reasonable RV parks, but you're gonna be 50 miles from a large city and beaches.
  18. Wow, steep learning curve you endured. Now I know you have a basement Coleman Mach heat pump, all I need is your model number to provide the correct service manuals. For instance, this service manual is for a 6536535 model. This covers installation and operation of the 6536535 thermostat.
  19. Insurance coverage depends entirely upon which type you contracted, an HMO usually only covers localized medical care(it's the zip code thing you hear on TV), generally a PPO will cover you wherever you happen to require medical care. IMO what you are consdering might get you in trouble with ILL if you retain any property you own there. Then there's always the option of not purchasing a motorcycle in Florida to eliminate this dilemma.
  20. Is there a reason you don't want to run the 12V LP furnace when utility power fails, or is this merely your preference?
  21. Big gust of wind under that canopy will create a SMART flying car.
  22. Humm, Kirk my first reply with pictures was copy N paste. I tried using http://photoposting.is-great.net/?i=1 from rv.net and it didn't work, so the last attempt I used https://imgbb.com/ It is a hosting website for pictures and documents.. Perhaps the entire internet is wonky, FMCA.com had been down since last evening. Oh, just remembered, this morning my IP sent a lineman to check my DSL line. He said they have detected an unusual noise being generated on the branch to which I'm connected and it's causing many problems. So it's likely on my end.
  23. Thank you don for the direct link to lastpass updates and information. I've used LastPass since it began. I'd never received anything from lastpass, this thread was my first knowledge of the breach. My bank has been using 3-factor identification to access my accounts for a year now. It's cumbersome and annoying, but I appreciate the security dedication.
  24. It's my impression from spending many winters in Ft. Myers Beach, the police are very forgiving with out-of-state speeders especially. As to 1 MPH over the limit; a friend and I were driving onto Ft. Harrison Army base many years ago. He was ticketed for 31 in a 30 MPH zone, into federal court. He contested the ticket in court. The judge asked him his argument, my friend said " my speedometer reads 25,30, 35, and so on. My speedometer needle was covering the 30 MPH mark". The judge dismissed the speeding ticket.
  25. Things are scrambled up. When I click the "preview" link in my replies, Pete's pictures appear. ???????? My pictures were a full side-view of our MH, with window awnings extended and retracted. Found my problem, my pictures exceed the size limit, so used https://imgbb.com/. https://ibb.co/NtMB1BV https://ibb.co/MnbQ473
