runaway parents Posted January 2, 2023 Report Share Posted January 2, 2023 Hope everybody has had a happy holiday season. Question I have because our 08 vnl 780 has got a fiberglass hood on it. How much snow piled up on it can it handle before the snow load damages the hood. We have cleared it off twice this year and expecting another 4 in of snow. Last time we shoveled the bed off it had 18 in on it. Anyway just wondering how much weight the hood can handle before any damage occurs. Jaydrvr Posted January 2, 2023 Report Share Posted January 2, 2023 I don't think you could pile enough snow on a Volvo hood to actually damage it, but that's just my take. I'd want as much off of it as possible so it didn't cause a road hazard. If you are not driving till it gets warm again. ddm502001 Posted January 5, 2023 Report Share Posted January 5, 2023 Been a truck mechanic longer than want to remember anymore, at over 200# was not uncommon to walk across a Pete, Freightliner or even as my own KW Hood, built to handle that.
