  1. As I have come to be More deliberate in Use Of, Cash.
  2. Thank you for that. Did contact the attorney we use for Farm where he noted all the Card Companies understand what figures they can adjust out or void altogether, they also have a flock of on staff lawyers that do nothing but drag the hearings on these larger challenges out for Months and repetitive courts events to cost the challenger out of the value. His notation, accept the loss, claim against taxes or just buck up and move on. Will not get it back, would spend far more for litigation that can achieve as refund. So off we go on that path. AMEX cards are already Closed, just paying that balance off, Visa accepted the loss as a Fraud event and moved on, still have that one. Bought a RFID Wallet, make certain each use are in it, and are in my pocket now, a lot paranoid of it all as remembered had been in a hurry, was fumbling around with the hoist and trolley, taking stuff out to the car pulled gloves from the pocket had hurriedly dropped the cards into as when removed from my old wallet were stuck together as usual. Not a second thought to recovering them at the time as Knew were Safely in that pocket. As to that 'Approval' that AMEX had sent to me, have friends in IT departments, asked if had a Passcode or Face ID on my old phone, said was available just found it inconvenient. My fault there as well. As to Iphones from a Tech, if the cards were picked up or pick pocketed by one of the more intelligent less desirable, all had to do was follow as we moved to the Grocer after HF, get within a Few Feet with my phone active and can Clone it, unseen, discriminately, one of the easier "Skims" that happen. For cards, if are using a card reader at a store, as soon as swipe and log the code to access, they can have those as well from a few feet away. Cloned phone, can redirect ALL inbound calls for a period of time, yet if slip out of range or out of a region and phone connectivity that reverts to most active phone. Today Skimming Scamming Thieves are so far advanced could be paid well by most industries for IT security, just easier money to steal from someone else. What was purchased were $1000 and $500 Gift Cards, also access our VENMO and PAYPAL accounts, set up a Bogus Bank account, sent money that was then recalled and sent to that bogus account. Bank checked those transactions, cannot recall electronic Wire payments or refunded moneys to bogus Temporary accounts these people immediately close out. The notes above are just words to the wise, a warning to remain vigilant on guard. Dave
  3. Been a Really defeating year. Been driving the Big Blue to keep it all oiled up and functional, HOWEVER, toy hauler large enough garage to haul the Harley and a small trailer for that was not up and coming. Prices have been excessively HIGH for any used, people are upside down in loans unable to dicker down to unload a vehicle they stopped using. Then the Really bad part, was shopping for a extra hoist to lift the cab on my old Super Duty Ford, is predominantly a Farm Truck due to age/miles. Went to harbor Freight picked up a hoist and trolley then to a grocer and with really cold weather awaited next day was installing hoist, got a flash message, needed a Amex card charge approval but was ALREADY Approved. Ran back to house, checked for car, AMEX and Chase Visa BOTH missing. called BOTH and shut them down or so thought. AMEX initially did remove the charges, so too visa where Chase did not add back on, AMEX did. the AMEX "Investigator" spoke to the Card accepting business where they felt the cardholder WAS the person dealt with, made US responsible. Spoke to attorney, said the costs to challenge would exceed the charges to pay back so stuck with $9500 on a AMEX card had not used in Three Years. With that expense and mounting expenses on the old Duper duty the camper is now no longer a option, neither is travel this year. And as with any period of time with Bad Timing the right fuel tank on the Big Blue started seeping at the Strap and Support bracket contact points, old age and corrosion. Tank is off, will be cleaning it out tomorrow then taking to weld shop Monday where will be gone estimated between 3-5 Weeks to work it in for repairs. Turbo, Glow plugs on a 7.3, Cab corners, Rockers, doors and body repairs besides, so Blue became the work machine. All the scrap from the Ford hauled away. Sucks to be us.
  4. Our 2005 Kenworth is Insured thru our general Auto Home and Farm carrier Missouri Farm Bureau. Can be mad but a One Year FULL coverage Policy based on Limited use per year and licensed as Truck not MH is less than $300. Our 1999 Ford F250SD same coverage is $278 every six months. Does NOT care if pull RV or Equipment trailers or if leaves state for extended periods. HOWEVER, did ask both the State and the Insurer of Licensing RV. In MO, RVs cannot EVER be used for a materials or farm goods hauler, cannot connect to a general purpose trailer and haul even our own goods, $500 fine first citation, moves to $5000 second and loss of RV license. Secondly once Titled as RV cannot within MO retitle as a Work vehicle or even a Personal Use general truck again. License sounded prohibitive as to be adequate had to get 48,000 Beyond Local license, not Commercial but as such is over $560 per year and we are required to have a Federal DOT inspection annually. For the Insurer, to Insure Strictly as a RV or MH was over $3000 per year where they also will NOT cover if used as a General Purpose Truck, so we made a correct choice. Bobtail as reach a Site was questioned, we would have still been covered.
  5. By the time you buy two or three lengths of that and replaced the stretched out clamps will be money ahead buying the SS, Coating will do no more than allow the ring segments to rust inside the crimps and still fail. Been installing Flex since the 70s.

    Myth Busters

That is incorrect, can order a Tag or Pusher tandem where there is but a single driving axle and a Sleeper trailer style tube axle. With two differentials there is a Necessity for a Power Divider differential. As to Axle weight and durability, that after fifty years of changes on trucks is also a misnomer. Tandems anymore only come as 38, 42 or 46 thousand capacity, much of which is Axle Housings weight, axle shafts sizing and suspension. KW eight bag is the heaviest tandem air ride, Pete and Freightliner spring leaf or IH Spring leaf are the Lightest where a few are complexity nightmares of bushings, torque rods and arms or just far too many small parts as the Pete setup. NEWAY Aftermarket the least complex and around same weight as well to consistency of function for SA use. Third members or Differential "Pumpkins" are relatively interchangeable 38&42k weights Banjo Housings only Slight increase in heaviness, 46k will have again heavier banjo housings, casings and bearings as well axle to axle differential gear train. Singling a Tandem ANY truck except a KW requires reuse of the Forward Suspension onto the Rear housing, including Spring Seats to banjo housing, the Ujoint 'Flange' will need to be converted from the smaller Ujoint series rear shaft to a Larger which a reasonable gear train shop can ID. A reuse of the Front Housing with the Rear Differential is possible, just have to Blank Off the Power Divider Shaft point. The primary issue of the Tandem Rear is they are generally constructed HYPOID Gearing and I am no engineer so have NO Clue why they did that other than to alter angle of attack for the R&P to "Non Parallel" to reduce affects of severity of Ujoint motions. Rear Differentials set in a Reverse Angle to Forward, point UP drastically as opposed to up relative to Trans flange angle on forward. Gets really complicated where used to repair these and ran into all manner of foul up repairs had to remediate. On RV use ANY rearmost Differential can be utilized for a Single Out but CAUTION need be followed to not overload the mechanism by adding seriously heavy Frame Extension, boxed all steel bodies with extensive tooling boxes, support structures behind cab and above all else Ramps/platform to add a Auto or Motorcycle On the Platform Box behind cab. Truck Capacity Weights are Cumulative as to Anything at springs Up including Drive Axle itself and the Tongue of the Toad. Single Bag air rides will force frame Torque UP as accelerate, monitor your where with all as to Overhangs and overall trailer heights when stationary. 7. Late getting back on here, yet Also a Great Thank you to all that signed that bottom line in joining our Military.
  8. Always handy as Tool Box spares.
  9. Was going down same road Darryl. Even the Teflon Core High Temp from compressor head is available in those shops on a build as need.
  10. McMaster Carr is your friend here, can also seek out Fastener Suppliers as they will have Shoulder Bolts and Shouldered Lock Nuts. Preferably NOT Nylocks but Friction crimped Lock Nuts, those BTW are a DO NOT REUSE.
  11. DOT Conspicuity tape is Commercial Trailers and designed Product hauling trailers, has not entered the RV market 'As of Yet'.
  12. I Cheated and wired in a Separate 7way Flat pin plug at the rear of my Class 8. Still have the Stock cord and round pin 7way installed at cab rear.
  13. I keep a Road box of Bare necessity tools, if need anything more is so hit and miss as to not be a good add as to displaced other materials. On road parts can be slim but to carry readily available such as Air Governor or other contaminant sensitive components is not doing any good for the parts being tossed around and dirt exposed for long periods before needed use. Lamp Bulbs/assemblies, fuses, circuit breakers or a few relays that can be readily swapped I do keep with a small multimeter and test lamp. A few pigtails, nylon ties, a Sealed Wrapped fuel filter and is about it
  14. Main question, what state? Here in MO, if a City, State, County cop sees a RV licensed vehicle pulling Anything besides a RV is a Automatic $500 ticket, if press the Issue can be a Tow away. Know this as a fact as a ex-coworker went thru this. Truck and Trailer will have to be DOT inspected or are asking for a Spot Inspection regardless the license until they determine what are doing with it. Your Insurer will know if can or cannot. I cannot so licensed my own machine Weight Tagged.
  15. My own KW has all new components except ONE all steel return gas tube, which just so happened to still be good and is NLA from KW new.
  16. As I began as a Mechanic, AC on HD Trucks was just coming together. Older Conventionals had Roofmounts added, Permanent hole in roof that never would really seal. COEs had Roofmount Condensers early on, systems were weak to useless in cabs. Better systems came along as IHC "Blendaire" that ALMOST functioned, few ever bothered to replace or even clean intake filters. Our 'B' HVAC system is split house, has manual shut offs for Summer on heat, Separate cores for Bunk and cab with separate AC Evaporators and expansion valves. Rear unit is a On or Off system nothing to regulate except blower speed. Cab has really dysfunctional damper control systems, KW always used since late 80s, positions by processor as to placement of damper to a desired request by dash control. Sometimes work, sometimes have to jack with. Defrost at least will clear W/S, Pete's generally need a added cab dash fan like the old school buses.
  17. Power Divider locks front drive shaft to rear, locks out the interaxle differential. Can still spin two alternate sets of wheels one of each axle and be stuck with that, patience and practice will give experience to get out of bad situations. Our old KW has Power Divider and air Lockers for both differentials, separate switches. Make certain the Cams are rotating, Slack Adjusters on the Spring Can axle moving to released direction, if not then have another issue beyond stuck shoes.
  18. Have to say Love the looks of the DRV Line, just well outside the budget we can accrue. If money were no object could do that JX450 in a heartbeat,
  19. I am SO Lame, paint has fully cured so washed the Big Blue today, delved into cleaning well enough to coat with Silica Dioxide treatment. Trying to get a better shine as going to Truck show 9/9 called Pride in Your Ride at Warrenton MO Fair Grounds. Got down to working on buff compound around rivets that will not just wash off. Have back of sleeper to finish up on, then will start on the application. STILL looking at Toy Haulers, both TT or Fifth Wheel, NOT finding what wife can be satisfied with so far while prices are creeping DOWN.
  20. Contrary to some, I still prefer Cottonwood as Not in ground contact will last invariably Years longer than most hardwoods and does not get slick when wetted. Just getting harder to find a Sawyer that will slab Cottonwood.
  21. All too typical of Experts, at screw ups. Rear view Warranters. Leaves sight in mirrors. warranty gone.
  22. Friends still in HD Truck Repair business have noted will not be much of a value here, almost Double the cost of a similar IC Engine truck, even over time financial recovery is slim to non existent. Battery service life is short, expense to replace is a evil number much as were the battery swaps for Hybrid Cars even Tesla cars. Cheaper to replace the entire machine. Cost to charge battery is artificially indicated LOW, in actual dollars higher due to charging wait times and standing in line unable to go to a different source charger. REQUIRES a Licensed Electrician to perform even the simplest of tasks on these.
  23. Back to Deletes. To Delete EGR really need to have the engine Decompressed as to make them run adequately breathing Dirty Air they Raised from avg 16:1 to 18:1 to do so. DOC/DPF deletes, biggest issue is the engine Processor remains in a Fault Condition, will affect timing and fuel adjustments, saw similar on early Harley DELPHI Tuners these being a bit more complicated. Best Options are to leave systems as built, best overall performance and ability to adjust to changing conditions. With my own it is a 6NZ, only items not are Hard Parts as Rocker Housing and a few odd pieces, None of which affect engine operation. Is built on a BXS platform where has heavier four bolt rods and a better crankshaft.
  24. Not bigotry to the Populace, Bias against the Liberalized Government there. Not a problem to NOT ever go there, too expensive for my wallet.
  25. My '05 has a Processor that states, 6NZ S/N, NON emissions, nothing to the contrary anywhere on truck where I have photos of Engine as received it, apart. Is NOTHING to indicate was ever anything EXCEPT a 6NZ so it is good. Spoke to CAT here, they do a test Plug In to see what engine is Noted, do not give a hoot what shows under the hood as these are now nearly 20 years aged with so many having 'Yard parts' to replace failed and expensive pieces as the Main Rocker arm cover/engine brake system support. All will work to any engine after the 3406E, ALL S/Ns. Cat only used a Tape Tag on their engines, primarily as they could build ANY production model off any block after the 06E, their own terminology, Frankenmotors. Would not ever take into CA, the requirements for there is a MAXIMUM Mileage limit 1000/1 week that can be achieved simply running lower 1/3 of state as NON Emission, and fuel OVER $6/gallon. I can spend my hard earned cash a lot more readily and economically in other states.
