I'm down in COlumbus now. I was right the wind blew the Deming scenery all down here. I've already seen all this scenery up there. The guy that designed this park had way too much Tequila. It's crazy but pretty. The phone signal is pretty weak. So I'm sending this from my phone.

Barring a miracle or the power of your prayers, we will not be leaving Wednesday. Silly man lifted the generator off the ground and put his back out. He can't take medication because it makes him throw up. This morning he says he is a shade better. Slept a bit, some in bed, most in his chair. Hasn't eaten much either because he did take Tylenol once.

Someone want to come this way and drive us back?

Ohhh, now the dog just threw up. Oh, lovely!

My first whack at boondocking. Parked by my nieces and running in a low power mode in the San Jancinto mountains. Will be here a for a few days through the holiday. Nice weather although I should have checked ALL the windows last night. I do need to get a generator. The power cord just reaches and I'm keeping the power way down so not to heat up the wire.

Went for a walk by the Port this morning. When I got there, there were people all over the place. TV Vans set up, you name it, it was happening. Finally heard they think 3 trawlers are missing and most likely sunk in the channel. Bringing Divers in to check the channel now. Whew sure am glad I wiped that bottle down before I left it there. But I must have missed at least one print cause I heard the cops talking about Steve? someone. :P

Got some more practice moving the ole pin today. Yessir moved it all of 3 blocks. :o Seems that Cat Parts in Portland messed up the parts order and didn't send the gasket needed to put things back together again. So I'm now locked in the shop for the night. I can say the neighbors are quiet though. :D

Linda, guess you sleep a bit later than I do. 2 cups of coffee so far this morning and nobody but me is here. ;)

Jeff, not really in a hurry but I had planned on taking 2 days to travel the next 350 miles on this trip. :) Now I'll be trying to do it in 1 day instead.

Don't let Joe kid you. He popped the cork on that bottle and sniffed it before setting it down by the pier. Now he can't remember where the campground is. But his sinus is clear now.

There is a great horned owl nested in the tree behind. my trailer. I get all kinds of visitors around here trying to get a glimps of it. Last night just before dark one left the nest and flew to the top of the telephone pole just across the road. A few minutes later the second one appeared (from? ??) And tried to light on the same pole but fell off a few seconds laterand went to the next pole. They sat there hunting, diving down to catch mice or? ? I watched till it got too dark. Interesting.

Dang it Lee, I thought we agreed not to tell anyone about that. Since you done let the cat outta the bag, I found I was clear over in Richland, WA and my sinus are clear.

Steve, tell them boys down there they can cap that well. Got the "gusher" fixed on the Doghouse. That pin came free this time with no more than a gentle nudge. :D

I went to one of the Restaurants in Columbus last night. I'll say one thing, "What they lack in quality they make up for in quantity. I ordered Pork Chops. I got two chops about a half pound each, a baked potatoe, a serving of green beans large enough to fill an average sized plate a large bowl of salad, Two large slices of Texas toast, some pineapple and some Applesauce. It really wasn't bad but just too darn much food for anyone and all his friends. I think I'll be very careful what I order from now on. I don't know how they stay in business. There was only room in the place for 4 tables and the staff kept one of those full of 4 ft wide rear ends.

My owls used a different perch to launch their hunt from last night and didn't come out until it was so dark I could hardly see them. One was very visible on the nest this morning with it's head sticking up high above the rim. Maybe the other one was on the nest too but lower in the nest where I couldn't see it from the ground. I viewed the pictures I took yesterday and I got some really good shots. I'd post them but I'll have to edit them first to get their size down to forum standards.

Just got through having breakfast/lunch with Pa & Dee. Great to finally meet them and put faces to the names. They are good people, but we knew that already, as they passed the classless class stringent initiation with flying colors  . We ate at the casino, and I didn't show them the ice cream machine, because you have to be a member a little longer and know the "secret handshake" before you're privy to that. We hope all of your ears are burning, because we talked about you all, and had a good time doing it. The wind blew them in and now it's blowing them back out again. Glyn had to ride the brakes all the way from Amarillo to keep from overshooting the casino this morning.

 pssst, Joe, mum's the word!

What's going on with IYQ, he's hunting mice with the Owls now. Better chain him to the trailer before he tries to fly..... :o

If good things come in threes, do bad things too? We should be done now. First last week Doug realized that we were going to need a new bearing on the lead tire on the 5th wheel. After three trips to town for the parts, that was done. Then the back went out. Yeah he is still in great pain but we are preparing to go, torquing all the tires, adjusting the air pressure and he discovered we had a flat on the rig. Well with 80* temperature and his back, and a bit of my help, we did it. We should be ready first thing in the morning. First stop Wells, Nevada.

I've come to the conclusion that owls have a very bad memory. I introduced myself to them last Monday and they are still asking me WHOooo I am every time I go out to see what they are up to. Maybe they are just older than I think they are.

I stayed in last night. I didn't think I could stand another of thier restaurant meals. Steve, mice really aren't that bad roasted.

Micearoni, hmmmmmmm!

Joe, you need to take your pin back to Whidbey island. They might need it to shore it up a little. Looks like parts of it are missing!!

Thanks to Steve and Carol for a great time at the casino. We enjoyed our lunch and even had a great waiter. After we finished our meal we tried to find the ice cream machine and wandered all around the machines. I had to stop and rest three times and jog to keep up behind Steve. I got the idea he was trying to loose us in the crowd and keep it all for himself. He did not succeed. We found the ice cream machine and got photos to prove it. I even snuck some out to our fur kids. When we left we were on a sugar high and had a tail wind so we drove all the way to Jackson, TN where we stopped and slept at Casey Jones Museum and Country store to wait for them to open for breakfast. Great place for a country buffet and free overnight parking across the street and quiet, just in case anyone is in the area.

IYQ maybe we had better pick up a few more jars of grandpas moonshine to share in Q next year so you will have some on hand when you need it.......for medicinal purposes of course...... it helps when your having a bad day as well...win, win.

We will be sure and keep the lights on in WY this summer just for y'all.

Made Wells, Nevada by dinnertime. A completely uneventful trip. Isn't it wonderful. Doug's back is somewhat better. Good to move our peg. Watch us go. La Grande, Oregon tomorrow.

That's good news! I think it means no more troubles are going your way. We've got your back ... well, kinda of. If you look to the west, you might see us (on the map that is.) We had planned on spending the weekend around Sacramento but then I looked at the weather forecast!!! Rain!! We had outside plans and not inside plans. So, we headed north. That's where the sun is ... at least for a few days. Tomorrow we hit the Siskiyous.

I had a bunch of owl watchers today. It gave me someone to yak with. It seems like some of them come here every year about this time just to watch the owls. I didn't get anything else done except set up the coleman burner out on the pic nic table and fry up some hamburger before it spoils. I bought it before I had this last bought of congestion. Got sick so I froze it. I felt energetic today so I cooked it all then refroze half of it. I think I need to get a life.
