The Class-less Class

Good to read your note, Lee... we are still planning to arrive on Monday. Will do the boondock thing there, also... won't need hookups. So, get to feeling better and we'll see you in a few days.

Tom and Diane: I'll still be here when you arrive. The Low's are having a Rally starting the 27th of March. Normally they close to the general public during the week of the rally. You should be ok on the 18th though but we are filling fast. There were several spaces left tonight when I came back from dinner. My trailer is in the Boonedock area right behind the dump station along the border of the maze. Bring lots of juice stories about the rest of the gang to talk about. Deming is a little short on GOOD restaurants but I'm sure we can find one that will do.

I've been feeling a little down the past couple of days. That congestion problem has rared it's ugly head again but it seem to be going away. I sure hope so. I don't do much but sleep when I have that bothering me.

Well today was another first for us. We pulled into a Cracker Barrel for breakfast and went to park around back....WHAT it was a dead end. No parking for big rigs!! Had to disconnect the car to turn around! But was have made it safely to our summer home. Americamp at Lake Gaston in Virginia. We are just across the North Carolina border so anyone coming this way, give us a holler!!

yuck. our worst turn around problem was on the Natchez Trace. Took the scenic pull-out, towing the trailer, THEN saw the NO RV TURN AROUND sign . Oops. after attempting a 20 point turn (in the rain of course) we realized they weren't kidding and he had to back the trailer back up on to the road. NOT a fun day. My Ipad was the best purchase I ever made. Google earth at my fingertips. Now we check first!

Happy to see that there are a few people on the east coast. We'll try to hook up with Jerry and Janice, Ed and Linda and Charley and Deloris as we meander towards Boston!

Headed to Savannah in a day or so. We might make it to CO this year, but it won't be until fall if we do.

Half way up the steep hill to Lake Louise the sign says "No RV's beyond this point" and no turn around. We went anyhow.

Love Savannah, favourite place so far.

Pulled into a station to get fuel and noticed that the route we're taking could be reached by going out the back way of the lot. Got about ten miles down this Wisconsin paved "goat path" when we discovered construction barricades around a sharp corner. No shoulders and had to back up about a quarter mile before we could reach a farm driveway. Apparently, we'd also bypassed the road closed signs at the road intersection...it was good backing practice with a 34' trailer!

Glyn,

It's easy to see you are new to our group. Steve and Carol lived for about a year at the Fire Lake Grand Casino, in Shawnee, OK, while waiting for their house to sell. Free water/electric on a creek with a picnic table. Several of us visited them there and many of us stop there whenever taking route I-40. Check it out.

I'm feeling a little better today. I'm still congested but it's loose and easy to cough up.

An SUV and a truck crashed in the Wal-Mart parking lot today. The truck carreened into the building going through the wall and hit the propane supply in the restaurant causing an explosion. 3 people were burned and sent to tbe hospital. It set off the sprinklers and the whole store was evacuated out the rear. I had been there shortly before it happened but was on my way home when thing got exciting. Lucky me.

Glyn, there is good casino parking at Fire Lake, Shawnee, OK. exit 178 on I-40 about 30 miles east of OKC. We are about 9 miles from there and would be happy to meet you guys there. There is a great ice cream machine there, but don't tell IYQ about it as he will sneak in and take it all.............. It has 50A and water with a dump site on premises. We just got here yesterday and haven't been by the casino yet. They were in the process of building a big hotel there when we left last year, so we will be interested in how far they have come on it. Will check on it and report in the next few days. Steve

I had read that Steve was at a Casino, but I wasn't thinking of Shawnee. I know close to where it is.

Juli

You think we need that much ice cream??lol

Thank you for info. I got the e-mail. I will call when we leave Amarillo, so you will know we are on the way. That should be a good drive from Ama.to Shawnee. About 270 miles. I do that before breakfast. lol Not now, my past life. As D says "That will give you time to get out of town." Don't tell any one we will be there. All the people from this "class" may tell you about us.lol

The reason Steve will keep Bessy Bus cranked up and ready to roll is because he's afraid I might show up. Then he would high tail it with the ice cream machine. He uses that ice cream machine like bait to coax people to go there. But it always disappears by the time they get there. I think the machine makes vanishing cream instead of ice cream.

It was rocking and rolling around here today. The blowing dust wasn't the best thing for my congestion. The only chore I did was go get LP.

Moved yesterday to Casa Grande, AZ after spending the past month at the SKP park in Benson. We hooked a $12/night Passport rate at Casa Grande RV Resort with full hook-ups, pool, plenty of activities and near town. It's been recently updated and can highly recommend.

We had an enjoyable visit with Tom & Dianne in Benson. Really liked the Saguaro SKP and we will miss our new friends that we made there.

Time start slowly making our way north thru Utah and CO.!

Guess what we're seeing this morning?? Coastal fog! We haven't seen that in a very long time. However, I think I'd rather see that than the near 100 degree temperatures that were facing us in Parker. This will clear soon and there was no hope for the heat.

We'll be driving through eastern Utah in mid to late May and hope to stop at Mesa Verde ... maybe. We need to move the vehicle we left behind in Phoenix to the northwest. We're calling it our vacation.

My new domicile and roomates are great. I have a place to put the trailer when Icome into town. Yesterday installed a 30amp circuit off the breaker panel and a hardwire for the network so I can run at full speed. An FHU I can use whenever I want is very convienent. All I have to do is get back to Glendale.

When are they going to make a computer that can boot up faster than I forget why I turned it on in the first place? I tried to post using my Android and it's funky. It lets you write about 3 or 4 lines then won't put the cursor where you try to put it. It ends up in the middle of stuff you alread wrote and you add letters where they ain't supposed to be.

Tom and Dianne arrived as scheduled today. We went to the Adobe Deli for Dinner tonight. Good food and even better company. We (well, mostly I) talked a blue streak. I told them all the stories about you folks that you never wanted anyone to hear. Especially about Steve and Dave. They are going to head on down the road the first thing in the morning. I hope I'm up and alive so I can get another nice warm hug from Dianne and shake Toms hand so he can't hit me with it.

I've pretty much decided that my congestion problem is Bronchitis. The green phlegm sort of gives it away. I'm doing much better again but still hacking up the stuff by the gallons. However my lung a fairly clear most of the time. A secondary sinus infection isn't helping matters any either. I've decided to move down to Poncho Villa State Park next week while the Rally is going on then come back here just long enough to get my meds (If Wal-Mart is reopened.) and get mail one more time and send in my quarterly taxes. Then state park hop for a while before heading east to North and South Carolina. Then I plan (I better not do that it well never happen) I think I might, (that's better) bounce around the free campgrounds in Colorado with a group of my friends for the rest of the summer.

Tom and Dianne, Drive safe on that 30 mile trip tomorrow. Don't get lost in the rocks.

Did a little bit of traveling today, but dang near ripped the hitch off the Doghouse trying to get my pin to move. Honked at Jeri and Terry as I motored through Kalama, but got no response. Oh Well, maybe next time.

Hi ol' "palamine", we're planning on checking out the SKP park here as soon as I can straighten out my gps. They have great wifi here at Casa G. RV Resort so I downloaded an update to my Garmin and it screwed it up. Not the first time this has happened. They dumped over a $million into this park the past year and I've got a strong feeling that the $12 rate won't be around next year. I think that they're trying to get people into the park to "advertise" it? Great facilities for the $.

Mention your name? Are ya tryin' to get us in trouble?! :D

You definitely don't need your GPS to get to the SKP park. Easy, peasy! Florence to South Montgomery turn left and go until you can't miss it.

Was great fun to be with Lee last night, plus a little visit again this morning, and more hugs, before heading to City of Rocks. Like the rocks and scenery here... will be a good place to hang out for a few days before moving on to Roswell.

And, Lee... you did not talk too much! (Though, the stories about folks will give us good ammunition for another time :) Fun to meet friends along the way as we travel!

Have a new little project due in today. We've been using a 1957 5.5hp Johnson on our little boat and although it looks and runs great, it is a little heavy and underpowered. I made a purchase on Ebay the other day of a 1984 7.5hp Sears Gamefisher, that we are going to try out. It needs work, but it is much lighter 35lb vs 56lb, and has two more hp, so we'll see how that works out. We will probably be in Oklahoma for a few months (read that until it gets too hot), so will have time to check this new motor out. Now I have to put the current motor back in the storage shed, and go pick up the new one. Cool here last night, 38, but supposed to be 60 and sunny today. Pear trees are all blooming, but the red buds are still holding back. When the red buds come out is when the best bass fishing starts. Steve

I had a bad night last night. Selp in 30 seqments because of this congestion. I sure wish I had been feeling better when Tom and Dianne were here. I wasn't a very good host staying cooped up in my trailer hacking up green phlegm all day. I'll make up for it the next time we meet.

I haven't been out of the trailer all day today. I guess I'll have to find a clinic to go to all though I know they can't really do anything to help me. Just rule out more dangerous stuff. 95% of Bronchitis is caused by a virus. It just may be that I have the other 5% type and antibotics will do some good. The antibiotics the PA gave me at the Slabs seemed to do a lot of good but that could have been a case where the virus had just run it's course and I was getting better anyway. Except for the congestion and coughing up stuff and the listless feeling I really don't feel to bad. I just want to sleep all the time and when I try too, I wake up coughing.

The weather procrastinator has us scheduled for 3 days of wind. Why is it that he is always right when it comes to bad weather and always wrong when he says it's going to be nice. I'd stop my complaining and look at the bright side of things but the batteries in my flash light went dead last week. Smile, all crying does is mess up your mascara.
