IYQ
Not a nice day in Deming. The sun came out right on schedule. But, the wind never left from yesterday. It never got out of the 40's all day. I tried to do a little work outside but my hands got so cold, I Made more mistakes than progress. This evening I took two of the cowgirls out for pizza. It was a new Pizza place. It was very good. Super thin crust and very tasty sauce Quote Lee (IYQ)<p>Moving from Campground to Campground so the Grim Reaper can't find me.http://www.flickr.com/photos/iyq/2013 Chevy 2500 HD Diesel pulling a 2008 Hornet TT with Hensley Arrow Hitch. desertranger
The reporter was standing outside and in the background the streets were wet but clear of snow. I hear where you're coming from Ranger, but where I come from, if we took the advice to "stay off the roads" we'd never go to work, etc.! A few years ago I was caught in a blizzard in the high desert. An 80 mile drive from Yucca to Desert Center to Palm Springs in snow and ice. I guess you Easterners would take in stride. Even with chains and AWD it was kind of scary. In my life I can only remember driving in that weather a few times. Mostly in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mtns and hi-desert. It's all relative to what your used to. Flip the coin, try driving when it's 120* and there's a major sandstorm on the other side of the windshield with visibility close to zero. steved44
Well, shoot, I missed a couple of you guys. We made a quick trip to Sanibel Island yesterday and didn't look at the map to see that Paul and Sue had moved to Ft. Myers. We drove down there in the car Wed, stayed on the island that night and returned to a family gathering in St. Pete Beach yesterday. Now we are getting ready to head out to New Orleans to meet up with Carol's nephew before we go to McKinney Texas to get MCD shades installed. All of this is happening too fast. If you go to Sanibel Island, a must see is the RV park (only one on the island) where all the birds are. Some mornings at 10:00 they have a parrot show, which we caught the tail end of and was really nice. Traffic on the island, however, is bad as a few other people seem to have discovered the place. Well time to pick up the mail, almost forgot we ordered it. All of you pooooooor souls who are dodging snowflakes in AZ, who knew? We're meeting up with Eric and Karla for dinner on Sunday, Yay! Soos, that breeze wasn't caused by Steve going by so fast. It was caused by him talking about the rest of us so much. Or, mayby he was cutting a few Zzzzzzzzsss and had his mouth open. The Weather guy is saying well get another bone chiller on Sunday and possibly some of the S--w we didn't get the other day while the Benson crowd was out slipping around on it. After that is over I'm really hoping He'll be right just once in his life. He says it will start warming up again. I'm all for that. It's been a long time since I've been able to complain about the weather being too HOT. Six of us LoW's went out for steaks tonight. Very good. 14 others went out for a fish dinner to a different restaurant. Yuk. I wonder why I can't seem to loose any weight. palamine
Overton, oooo Overton. The last time we were here we left because hunting season opened that morning and it was like World War III. TODAY there is a Las Vegas Retreivers Club meet here and there are hundreds of hunters and hundreds of dogs. One guy, two sites down, upon returning in his big diesel pick-up at 1:30 am left his generator on all night. The shooting is about to begin. You know how much I hate guns. AND they bring their own ducks. Hundreds of ducks, in cages, about to meet their death. But we still love Overton. Unfortunately we were on too tight of a schedule when we went down there. Now we are at Walmart in Tallahassee tonight headed for New Orleans. We had a great time on the cruise. We waited until the last minute to book it and got a pretty good deal. We were only parked about 9 miles from the cruise terminal so we could swoop in and get a deal. It was for 7 days and we stopped at four countries. Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Grand Cayman. Food was great and the weather couldn't have been better. We rented a car on two of the stops, so weren't tied down by a tour bus and that was a good way to go. They don't have any driving laws to speak of over there, so I was glad to get the rental back in one piece. At least we didn't have the trouble our sister ship had!!! Sure glad we missed drifting around the gulf eating cucumber sandwiches. Maybe they'll all go home after Sunday. Now the part about bringing their own ducks, that makes it even worse. Weather was pretty nice yesterday. We had a list of things to accomplish. We've had to delay our departure by one week. We're sure ready to get out of here though. I'm heading back to Portland on Monday (aargh!) but returning Tuesday night. We hope to be on the road again Thursday ... well, as far as Camping World for some service work. Whether we head west the next day to Palm Springs are to Lake Havasu is still unknown. IYQ
I'm going to invest in Dramamine. The way my rig is rocking and rolling in this wind, I know there are a lot of people getting seasick out there. 55 MPH winds and only 43 degrees in the middle of the afternoon. The wearher guy says we'll get one day reprieve then hit again on Tuesday. Yuck. I was able to work outside until almost noon tough. I've got my slide pulled in and because of my office chair I can't get into the frig. Maybe that's a good thing. When I send this I hope it can buck the wind and get to you guys that are West of me. hicksco
I watch salt in most foods so I don't have to give up others that are naturally salty, like cheese. Today I made a bowl with canned beans. They are loaded with salt. So, I added a can of no salt diced tomatoes and some of the no salt turkey I fixed yesterday. Then added some no salt. Onions and mushroons with garlic powder. It was good and the over all salt content was moderate. I figure I get about 1500mg of salt a day. I had good intentions today but every thing I tried to do, I found I needed something from the store. It being Sunday I ended up doing nothing. Have you tried to use Mrs Dash seasonings? There are so many choices and it really adds great flavor....
Onthego
We're back at the Lazy L&L in New Braunfels. The winds blew hard here yesterday, gusts over 50 mph. Last night we had a potluck dinner where the dish had to have alcohol in the ingredients. Some great food. I turned in my Elks application about 2 weeks ago, hope I'm in by the end of March. Sunny and around 70 for the next week. Be safe everyone.
