Another new coronavirus variant now detected in 13 countries | Live Science These worrisome new VARIANTS just keep popping up. Like others I will be getting my vaccine shot in due time however unlike some others I know that the vaccine will not protect me against all the new VARIANTS that keep popping up. No wishful thinking here. Every year I get the flue shot the doctors and nurses TELL me that the flue vaccine does not protect against ALL VARIANTS/STRAINS of the FLUE. I do not read replies of certain forum members. Just skip them and on this one will read no replies. Cheers

What happens during prolonged periods of no wind and no sun that occurs quiet often in USA. How do you store wind power??? and if snow and ice covers the solar panels for a long time??? Just curious. The California Grid suffers frequent rolling blackouts and brownouts. Are they stand alone grid like Texas or are they connected to a regional multi state grid??? Just curious. I invite my friends from my former home state of Texas to follow me to Nevada as I moved here about 8 to 9 years ago. Our winters are very mild with only short bouts of snow and ice in lower elevations. Extreme summer heat is of short duration in northern Nevada and cooler higher elevations are only one hour away. Pfizer vaccine protection against S. African variant reduced by two-thirds Pfizer-BioNTech announced on Wednesday that a study shows the antibody protection of its COVID-19 vaccine may be reduced by two-thirds against the South African variant of the coronavirus. In the study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, scientists from the drug companies and the University of Texas Medical Branch replicated the variant and tested it against blood taken from people who had been given the Pfizer vaccine. They found the level of neutralizing antibodies was two-thirds the level produced in tests using the most common version of COVID-19. Sneaky host. Sometime in 98 or 2000 I was tent camping at the Snag lake FS campground in the Plumas NF at a site that was suppose to be no fee with no host. Early next morning I was awaken by a stranger and told I had a to pay a fee of 3 or 5 dollars. There was no one else in the small campground and no sign stating a host was there or present. He said he was host and I refused to pay and ran him off. I did some searching in the woods and found another small campground some distance away where he was staying as volunteer host. After checking with ranger station at Greyeagle they confirmed no fee but there was a volunteer unofficial host for the campground who accepted donations. Very sneaky and under handed.

A few years ago while in a coastal forest service campground in Oregon the camp hostess had recently lost her hubby due to Ischemic HT and was looking for someone to share her 5th wheel. I hope she had great success. Do not remember her name after two years. Best of luck to you.

I learned the hard way over 45 years ago beginning with army in Vietnam and continuing all thru civilian life that America is a user and exploitive society except for the wise ones and despite lip service to brotherly love, Blah, Blah. Yes you are correct about recent changes that allow veterans with a VA ID disability card access to military installations for PX, Commissary and recreation facilities including campgrounds, RV parks, libraries, etc. This comment for new veteran members who have joined since beginning of the topic in Aug 2020. I have the military Tan DD 2765 100% P&T card now for many years and have used Travis AFB, Fort Hood, Corpus Naval, etc for all the above. However the VA card showing I am also 100% P&T will also allow me access to the above. It is easy to get the Tan card from nearest DEERs office (Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System) at most military installations including Guard and reserve units such as in city of Reno, NV. The online DOD regulations will tell you what you need to bring and they take your photo onsite. Because of covid the Reno reserve center requires appointments. Happy Camping

Latest from our "experts" at CDC as of 6 hours ago is that two or double mask are safer around unmasked people. Next we will all be wearing self contained moon suits and that really means a big government spending program like a good long war in SE Asia.

I did not call him an expert and I don't think you did either but CDC and wise owl are king of the flip floppers and have been wrong so many times in past year. I will still get my vaccine after others even if there is 700 or 1300 VARIANTS out there just like Flu and Malaria VARIANTS. Many people will feel they are perfectly safe forever with a vaccine but the doctors and nurses tell me each year the flue shot does not protect against all VARIANTS of the flue. End of Story. Each week health "experts" from around the world are finding out new symptoms and new ways the virus is effecting different people in different ways.

Kirk it was about 7 days ago I read this from a news source and was said Dr. Fauci stated this recently. I will now do intense research to find this source again and I don't blame anyone for being skeptical so hang for now.

As an infectious disease expert said in the news in past year that cruise ships were floating petrie dishes and I understand there is no vaccination against Nora virus. Before traveling to Acapulco, Mexico by car in 1965 my family doctor gave me a shot for protection against something but I got food poisoning off the peanuts at the Acapulco Hilton pool bar. I did have some fun there before I went down for the count and layed up for a week with beautiful view of the bay. No cruise ships in those days. 😃
