  1. Being a brilliant man I am sure he has allowed for this. You will note there are few large factories of any kind built on or very near the Texas coast. Only refineries/storage tanks and ship building and repair yards plus cement works, warehouses and of course a "hardened" nuclear power plant near Bay City.
  2. I remember your telling me you served with the Marines in Nam in 68. I flew Army Dustoff medevac missions just south of your I Corp location in Northern II Corp from bases at An Khe, Pleiku, QuiNhon(An Son), LZ English and Uplift. Major units I supported were 4th ID, 173rd Airborne, ARVN 22nd Division and ROK Tiger and White Horse division. I was also severely shot up on the May 1970 Cambodian Invasion just west of Pleiku and flew several rescue hoist missions into southern Laos to rescue Army LRRP and non Army SOG teams in trouble with the NVA. There were three Army Dustoff units in I Corp supporting the Marines. They were 237th, 326th and 101st Airborne medevac with bases at Hue Phu Bai and DaNang. Your bro may have known my good buddy Allen Hallbaurer a wounded marine medic in 69 who is from Belton, Texas. 498th Dustoff Three Two 1970.
  3. GM's newest pickup costs $9,000 and turns into a flatbed But you can't buy one in the U.S. Link is the above line and just now on Fox Auto news feed. Former Acct & SEC CFP. CIAO https://www.facebook.com/CaptainWilliamPerkinsInternationalHelicopter
  4. SAT TB. FB allows me to post hundreds of my U.S. and overseas photos including Army Vietnam service with short or long narratives for each photo. Also can publish other FB pages with more photos etc for different life events over 45 years, etc., etc. I can also enter links anywhere on my photos and narratives. Also easily made contact with old friends from many years ago in the Army, hometown including HS reunions, civilian overseas helicopter operations. Most have FB pages. All this for free. I don't care for Zuker but for me the best deal so far. Also have Wordpress and Google Photos but not nearly as effective for me. I understand your strong dislike for FB and it is shared by millions. Some people I know shut down their account or let their FB page go inactive for 4 or more years but they are still living. CIAO P.S. A high school buddy of mine and fellow EMS attendant was wounded in 1969 in Nam as a Marine medic and an Army medevac rescued him from the bush. We both received PHs, mine in 1970.
  5. I towed a 5000 plus TT in the steep mountains of western USA with a 1998 Dodge Ram V10 2500 and former Dept of Energy truck. The 4X4 Dodge actually had the rear axle of a 3500 and was a towing monster. Yes I could easily afford the gas. Although I had WDH equalizer hitch I stopped using it because of total absolute stability due to heavy truck with HD brakes. Never a problem with sway on steep winding curves or wet or windy conditions and no problem with passing 18 wheelers. I did use the WD hitch when towing same trailer in flat lands of Texas with my 2001 1500 Dodge Ram. Happy Camper and former Acct & SEC CFP. https://www.facebook.com/CaptBillPerkinsUNRescuePilot
  6. I heard a news report a long time ago that we are now or in future will allow other countries to send their spent fuel rods and other nuclear material to USA for storage/disposal. There was never any follow up news on this that I am aware of. True or Not true RV? This was long before 2016. Ciao. Pilot Bill Perkins Exotic Living And Travels in Far East and S.E. Asia | Facebook
  7. Thanks for timely clarification about HD trucks. I also saw the super hype news about GM going all electric by 2035 which I thought was misleading BS by GM and media. SITRIP. Situation Normal. Cheers https://www.facebook.com/Bill-Perkins-at-Lake-Tahoe-Crater-Lake-Black-Rock-Desert-and-PNW-1061410727212374
  8. Will there be EV heavy duty trucks such as 2500 and 3500s capable of towing our heavy TT and 5th wheels such as large Toy haulers any time soon or is this 50 years away. The answer of course is NO. Just curious and contented. P.S. lets argue just for the sake of argue with fresh coffee of course. 498th Army Medevac unit Vietnam "Unarmed and Alone So That Others May Live" | Facebook
  9. Welcome to this informative forum with such experts as RV who knows all things technical such as Tesla and Starlink plus internet and computers. He will keep you/us up to date. Happy Camping. 10. RV I am waiting for my Pfizer shot as I know of no adverse reactions to their vaccine. O Joe got his Pfizer vaccine and if it is good enough for him then I am for it. I never smoked because of Army experience of being cooped up sometimes in confined quarters with heavy smokers. God awful. All is well that ends well. 11. Jaydrvr you, RV and DocJ are winners. Since all this will happen over next 20 or 50 years why all the hyper fuss over it now ??? May or May not come to pass. May be another major world event to disrupt everything . I have my vest on now. Happy Trails To You https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1732362730399238&type=3
  12. Glad to see Musk relocating from Kalifornia to my former home state of Texas. However locating FACTORIES right on the Texas coast is very risky proposition IMHO. In early 70s I flew helicopters offshore all along the Texas coast and for many miles inland it is at or only a few feet above SL and in large Houston area below SL due to subsidence. Also kayaked fished many bays and waterways on TX coast so yes I am FAMILIAR with the geography. I now have my vest on. Capt. 13. Thanks for adding common sense to the issue DocJ. Are there any EV or hybrid pickups cable of pulling a 30' TT or 5th wheel now or near future. No one wants to answer my question and I know why. I am impressed with new F150 hybrid but is it powerful enough compared to regular V8?? Cheers to https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-And-Travels-in-Far-East-and-SE-Asia-1425108021122523
  14. Thanks for heads up on Toyota. I assume there are ways to recycle the materials in these large auto batteries or future plans to do so? May be in the market soon for new pickup. Is there now on the market or near future an EV or hybrid pickup truck that can pull a heavy 30" TT or 5th wheel? Thanks in advance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergreen_International_Aviation?fbclid=IwAR2rjmavjnDZDiVIQTfxcpXu8JZpzcG5eYhjUktFuwZgdg4v-MOwmDi7UUc#CIA_front
  15. I would think if one can provide information to the court of one's being presently out of state for lengthy duration on business or recreation then this would be valid excuse to the court such as campground or hotel reservations, etc. Just musing. https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-And-Travels-in-Far-East-and-SE-Asia-1425108021122523
  16. Well AI F my best friend ever is a Brit who is senior helicopter tech inspector still living in Singapore and Thailand where I once lived and he then and now likes to constantly refer to us yanks as still their colony. Unlike you sport I lived and worked with them for many years in Asia and ME. I was just stating an actual fact. I notice you like to have contention and disagreements with just about everyone on the forum and so your made up criticism of me is a big nothing. P.S. I do feel sorry for you though as you are so jealous, hyper and super sensitive. https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-And-Travels-in-Far-East-and-SE-Asia-1425108021122523
  17. I agree 100% with you Bruce. However I am a big fan of RV and appreciate his many constant detailed reports on all things technical. By the way I am not a troll or peeping Tom or even a spy. It's all good fun and Grins to all around. 18. Beware. The Reno BLM office just closed down nearby BLM land for any overnight camping because of gross abuse of the land by camper and trailer trash leaving abandoned RVs, cars and trash scattered everywhere. It is this type of trash that ruins it for the other frugal and recreational campers on public lands. I for one often camp for recreation on far away BLM land that is not considered scenic by others and therefore no neighbors and leave my site clean of any trash or debris. 19. I camp often at the 7000' elevation and will search for such a chart to check for degradation of gen output. Tom I use to have a champion 3000 and it was great and powerful. sold it about 4 years ago along with other TT accessories due to family health issues. Wish now I had kept it but I like my little firman so far. Cheers from the rear. P.S. 20. Thanks noteven for BBC link. After Nam I flew for many years in Asia and ME with the Brits and they constantly reminded me that USA is still their serf colony to the rest of the world. Wonderful people those Brits. Capt. Cheers here. DJohns good point you make about natural gas. It is cleaner than coal, safer than nuclear and more reliable than wind or solar IMHO. Happy Trails.
  21. I was responding to Bruce T comment about his reply to RV's post about energy that involves use of wind, solar, gas, and/or COAL, etc., etc. The standard woke answer for alternative use of coal is solar, wind and/or more nuclear. Capt. Woke here, there and everywhere. Thanks for caring.
  22. Many many years ago a doctors note in Texas kept me off jury duty and they never called me again. This same doctor helped friends in my hometown evade the draft over minor medical issues like mine. Lived outside of Texas for 9 years and renewed my drivers license by mail using a Nevada mail address. Lots of options for the enlightened ones. Oh mercy me. Speaking of responsibility both the U.S. Army and UN have credited me with saving lives of almost 3000 Vietnamese civilians and U.S. soldiers as a volunteer medevac pilot in 1970 (age 21) and volunteer civilian UN SAR pilot in 1980 (age 31) in South China Sea. Help start first emergency ambulance service in hometown of Temple, TX as a high school and junior college student in the 60s. 23. Cheap stake #2 or 3 here with new 120.00 Nokia 2.3 Android. Does everything I want/need and then some. Only an occasional glitch solved with a restart. Happy Camper.
