  1. I spent many months in the 70s flying helicopters offshore from that entire area Kirk so yes I am very familiar with that entire area chum. Many years ago I remember photos of serious wind damage and area flooding in the Angleton area from a powerful hurricane. Many if not most Texans said the recent severe Ice storm would never occur in their state.
  2. Most people I notice buying guns don't seem fearful to me and are just preparing for possible safety issues just like buying portable generators for possible safety issue of Texas style severe icing, hurricanes, etc. P.S. Good news for many of you. According to many news sources the CBP has discontinued their highway checkpoints to move more man power elsewhere so no more slow downs or INCONVENIENCES for RV snowbirds. Oh Happy Days. Cheers.
  3. As a recent former Texas resident thanks for the good news story RV. Unfortunely that area is near dead center for monster hurricanes and being low near sea level easy flooding. Cheers
  4. The Canooks have always been smart people using common sense. They are protecting their borders from positive covid travelers.
  5. Thanks Derek and glad all is well. From one vet to another. Dustoff 1970. https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-And-Travels-in-Far-East-and-SE-Asia-1425108021122523
  6. Well this is certainly a good new article for those of us that have had to take statins for years for high cholesterol and/or heart disease in case we get covid and the studies SUGGEST may prevent me from getting C virus along with vaccine, mask, etc. so yes I am a happy camper and I feel sorry for those who aren't. Too bad. P.S. Years ago I read medical news of other health benefits of statins but others will have to do own their own research. This may be new news to others but I first heard about it at a news conference in 2020. I do enjoy getting off my couch and looking for good news.
  7. When I posted the url the whole article appeared in large print. Sorry about that. Cheers
  8. Statin users 50% less likely to die from severe COVID-19 (medicalnewstoday.com)
  9. RV if you are still here did you receive any form of documentation that you received the shot and if so what did it look like. I have heard strong GOSSIP that some countries or businesses may in future require one to prove he or she has been vaccinated. Just curious not concerned. Friendly regards, Dustoff Three Three
  10. I do remember this as been very active and think some of them may have moved over to other RV forums . I am a member to several others including a veterans RV group and two of them have very active technology threads with RV also as a member. Captain Woke here. Cheers
  11. "No law will keep a bad guy from getting a gun." Well said Packnrat. America is not Australia or Europe or Canada but more like southern. In Nevada Gun dealers with S&B stores are doing a booming business. I wonder why?. Happy RVer.
  12. Great info from the Chronicle. Thanks RV. I am extremely glad I moved from Texas 10 years ago to Northern Nevada and California border. When I did live in TX for many years we had some very close calls with bad icing but nothing like what just occurred. It was just a matter of time and the DA were not prepared. Situation Normal with the crowd in charge of things as in (Lazy). As I recall energy prices before we left were pretty steep. Not so much out here. Winter months my energy bill runs average 60-65 dollars a month and summer time I rarely use AC as fans only are comfortable. No humidity and no cock roaches.
  13. Fully agree and I will continue wearing mask around others for near future regardless of mandates. They work for me and no bother.
  14. Good luck to you and thanks for thinking of U.S. veterans. P.S. 48 million American men claim they are Vietnam War veterans when only 5.8 million actually served there.
  15. I do have the real ID drivers license but I am able to fly without as I also have other valid ID such as my military 100% P&T disabled ID card with photo and no expire date plus U.S. and foreign pilots license ID cards with photos and thumbprints and VA 100% disable veterans ID with photo in addition to 3 expired U.S. passports. I carry all this when traveling by air.
  16. For my personal training purpose I messed around with electric tapes and heat strips but never had to use them and with electric failure would have been useless anyhow. Not sure if can connect to battery power with limited time before dead battery. One time my pink RV antifreeze froze solid in toilet bowl while TT in storage but all tanks and lines were empty. My boy scout training paid off. https://www.facebook.com/498thDustoffUnarmedandAlone
  17. Many years ago a very rude fifth wheeler at a Texas COE campground left all their outside scare lights on all night after hosting a loud party next to me. They were showing off new rig and tow vehicle. I knew from their loud arrogant attitude would be waste of time for me to say anything to them so I complained to the COE campground host not far away who saw and heard everything and they were told to be gone the next day. They had planned to stay full 3 day holiday weekend. Gone camper gone. I enjoy being mean to mean people. Sweet payback. Being tolerant of rude people only encourages them to continue their rude ways to everyone. Still here and Happy Camper at 74 years young. P.S. That is job of C host so they tell me.
  18. It has been several years since I was in their Sacramento store and they were fully stocked and bustling with customers just like Portland. Many RVers on this and other RV forums constantly praised Frys then and bragged about their purchases from there and reason I started shopping there. The Good old days were great for me but not so much for others. Cheers
  19. They are shutting down immediately. I always enjoyed shopping at their stores in California and Oregon. Maybe another victim of C virus according to some. RIP. Here is the proof you are always demanding when I easily found this on Google news just now. https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2021/02/frys-electronics-is-no-more-and-all-30-stores-will-soon-close/
  20. Well said Packenrat. The Texas governor is delivering bottled water in SA or so I heard. ROTFLMAO.
  21. Some if not many home owners in Texas were able to use the onboard generators in the new Ford 150 pickups to power a limited number of appliances such as lights, coffee, microwaves , etc. for warmth and hot food and internet, charging phones, tablets, etc. The larger the engine then the more powerful the generators. This will send the sales of new 150s into space orbit and I may switch from Rams to Fords next go. All the insurance cost for the damage repair in Texas will also be passed onto the rest of us.
