Reno Nevada BLM is shutting down overnight camping and restricting activities on BLM areas close to and just north of Reno/Sparks because of severe abuse of the public lands here due to horrible trashing of the sites and abandoned junky vehicles and RVs. No more 14 day stays or even one night of camping. This just announced in last two weeks in local news. No I do not have a link but one can easily find it with a simple first grade 101 Google search. In addition to full VA health care including full dental and eye care I have an AARP Medicare Supplemental plan F that unlike Medicare advantage plan provides me full medical care coverage in the the several different states I frequently travel and camp at. I have used this several times over the years with great success so with both VA and Medicare I am fully covered for most everything possible where ever I am at. I have also heard about nuclear waste recycling but are they actually recycling the stuff. Also heard a long time ago in the news that USA will be storing nuclear waste from other countries. Funny thing Ray and thanks for commenting. I am enjoying the **** out of my PH. Along with 100% P&T plus PH I get 100% cost free health care to me at the VA that includes Eye and complete dental and other state and Fed benefits such as free fishing, hunting, property tax discounts/reductions and two free license plates sets and vehicle registration. In the 50s and 60s the U.S. Government experminted around with small/tiny nuclear reactors for civilian use in supplying city electricity. Here is one example that is Arco, Idaho near craters of the Moon NM. Like some of the others they had serious incidents resulting in death or injury to facility personnel all were shut down and this one abandoned. Bob Hope received both the Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal and an Air Force Sword award among others but no Purple Heart which he did not earn. He was generously recognized and thanked for his service to USA many times and with many awards. The topic of PH medal for PTSD and "honorary" PH has been discussed and dismissed ab nauseum on several veterans forums I am a member of including large active VBN network. There has also been an effort by some vet groups to have the PH issued to Vietnam vets diagnosed with an Agent Orange disease. Sometimes a jealous hearted "vet" will make fun/jokes of PH recipients and he/she is quickly shot down in flames by others. The criteria for receiving these medals is listed on these vet forums and includes minor wounds and now concussion/TBI due to IED, etc. Beginning in later years of Vietnam war a medical officer/doctor must have signed the medical treatment notes and/or form documenting the wound was received in combat such was my case in 1970 at LZ Uplift. These field med officers were found at Army Medical Aid stations at LZ Uplift, LZ English and field hospitals such as 67th Evac in QuiNhon and 17th Field at AnKhe. I flew medevac/Dustoff missions from all these locations plus SF dirt airstrips in 1970. Cheers to all and now back to my fishing. I also use budget refurbished laptops with good results. Just for grins I have at least 5 laptops of different sizes from very new Lenovo I Core 7 to old Acer Vista that I easily upgraded to WIN 10 and it still works great. Also 8.1 dell (new) plus refurbished Dell upgraded to WIN 10 and refurbished Lenovo WIN 7. All work without flaw and two old ones upgraded to WIN 10 with no glitches and were free upgrades. These are my backups just in case and I use them as desktops with good results. Collected these over a period of 11 or 12 years so I am laptop poor and happy. Yes I have used Amazon lockers several times for small packages only and worked very well with fast service. The one I used is at nearby Whole Foods market. They send you email with code number you type in on the key paid or can scan the code with your smartphone to open the locker and BANG it flies open fast. There is a weight and size limitation. You must pick up item within three days. At time of order for shipping address you select which locker location to use near you from a drop down menu. I also have packages delivered to nearby UPS Store for free but the locker is closer to my digs. Cheers to all. I learned that same secret many moons ago based upon 1. previous experience at those locations and 2. Visiting certain websites and finding the small print hidden in the details of campground. If you look closely some FS campgrounds and others will tell which campsites are non reserve first come first serve. Although a bit pricey I have a UPS Store mail box and they forward my mail to me PDQ to wherever I am at. I usually use another UPS Store for forwarding address if one is close to my camping location and if not no problem. Very convenient and worry free. Happy Trails to you.
