  1. I use a Procom brick heater and plumb it with a fuel hose that we connect to the quick connect under the stove top. That way we know when it is in service or not. Oxygen depletion sensor, piezo ignitor, 5 brick(really too big for most trailers) and nicely priced. We usually leave a window open.
  2. On larger tanks, I have had to replace the pressure relief valves and the fill valves as well as the gaskets & o-rings. Be careful with that stuff, its volatile.
  3. Scary experience. Hope you all are safe. Did the trailer come with a smoke detector in that area??

    Big 5er

I work in an industry where pricing is by piece or unit. As I am now in my 60s, I dont get the same shot at the work as younger crews, as this is a grind and faster makes more profit, BUT, when something goes wrong or they dont know how to fix or apply a solution, who do they call. The 60something. Reminds me of the man who fixed the engine on the ship, his bill showed: Tapping with a hammer- $2 Knowing where to tap- $9,998
  5. 240VAC or 24VDC?? I'm confused.
  6. I resemble that statement. Back in 2011 sold my '04 HD RK Classic. Thankfully another gray haired man got it and uses it regularly. I paid it forward to him. He had helped his brother and cousin buy bikes and they helped him buy mine.
  7. Or military surplus as a base for RV remodel.
  8. That will take some tonnage to bend but will make a nice piece.
  9. Thanks. Sounds like you may have already done it. I do have the stock landing gear and unfortunately only 1 leg is weeping. But will rebuild them both.
  10. Have you done a cursory check of the grounds??
  11. I have worked in places that package produce. Most would have some sort of sanitizing spray for the veggies before they went into the package. By the smell, it didnt seem like some toxic stuff but rather to wash and clean and provide lubrication for the bagging of the produce, usually done by machine.

    OT: Help?

Thats a new one for me. Keep going, sounds like I am going to learn something new here. It will be a good day!

    OT: Help?

Could that be a surge brake setup like what is found on many rental trailers?? Could disable it by putting something in there to prevent the mechanism from sliding. I imagine that it is more problematic when backing.
  14. Not sure what make trailer you have but I have a Teton and it has the large landing gear, big square tubes. They dont swing back. And lots of capacity. When that job comes up on the list, I will share what I did to remove them from the trailer. I am likely going to use the hole in the ground idea that Darryl offered and go from there.
  15. Perhaps the tour is required so that each potential member will be afforded the opportunity to experience the park and its amenities AND what is required as to volunteerism. I know that my parents shared that some were not inclined to being included in social activities and others wanted more than is required or expected. The community is really a sum total of the personalities of its members. And all of those idiosyncrasies together are the total personality. Me, I think I would appreciate the tour as a "taste" of the community. I would also likely want to stay there for a month or two, just to feel the area and what it has to offer. I dont need to do that for Jojoba as much since I live 20 minutes away. So I already know about the weather, community outside the park, available services etc. That being said I dont have the same idea about any other SKP park. But I want to learn about that. Its on the bucket list.
  16. I was pleased to experience Saguaro back when my parents bought a lot there and I helped them build their casita. It was an experience that stays with me to this day and is a large part of why we are SKPs. I was also able to meet the then current owner of their lot and got some nice compliments on the construction and satisfaction of design. My Dad did spend some time on the architectural committee there too. He really enjoyed it and spoke fondly of his home base there. Sadly, I lost him some years ago.
  17. Interesting coincidence. I changed mine on Sunday and am also impressed at how much better it is. I still have to check the alignment though. I have had them for over 6 months but just never did the replacement. I went to fill up fuel last weekend when prices were pretty good for around here, and saw the box in the truck.
  18. That will work too. I think going to Barstow would be a longer way around but doable and all freeway.
  19. I guess that Kirk means using I10W and with a bit of navigating, take the I5N up the Grapevine at Santa Clarita area. This route is all freeway but be aware that these are busy at times.
  20. I am not aware of this being available in other states than Cali, BUT, there is a way to challenge the commercial registration (which is the default here for pickups). It is a personal use exemption which has some different options. I ran into an older man giving up towing a large 5er, which he did with an F550 which had this personal use exemption, which he got by having the truck inspected with the hitch installed. It dropped the registration considerably, as Cali also charges weight fees on commercial trucks. My current '16 3500 costs me over $800 a year for registration. But it is a service truck for work. My '07 3500 costs me over $550 a year. I will be getting the exemption for this truck when the DMV gets back to normal service. This may help the issue of commercial insurance IF you can show that the vehicle is registered non-commercial.
  21. Kind of like the idea of needing a tool, find one to buy. I have lots of tools I have made for specific tasks or jobs and then others that I made with the intent to be multi functional. Some I have had for many decades and still use. In fact I still have the ratchet and socket set my Dad bought me in 1977, which started my mechanical career. I carried it in a small 6 drawer top box along with other tools I added till it became too small. I now have a 3000SF shop, a 16' enclosed trailer, a small welding trailer, a service truck stocked with tools- a Miller Trailblazer and torch set and my RV hauler with a Stalick bed. All stocked ready to work as needed. And even at this, I sometimes find I need to make or buy a different tool to get a job done.
  22. There just is something comforting about repairing something that still has life rather than replacing it and throwing the old one away. Kinda like rebuilding my roto hammers instead of replacing. I have some that have me well for more than 20 years. Cant get rebuild parts anymore. I never thought I would work those tools that long.
  23. Hey Dave, I dont imagine you are the only person needing guages. Like LDTs, have you looked to see if your can be rebuilt? I cant imagine that there arent companies that rebuild those. Might take a bit of looking. I rebuilt a cluster complete in my Chev work truck, which IF I had gone to the dealer, they would have sent it to a place like the one I used, and charged me a hefty markup for their services. I found a guy that was mobile and had it all completely done at my yard for a very reasonable price. Perhaps something like this:https://www.ebay.com/itm/99-04-Peterbilt-379-Speedometer-Repair-Service-/253576388369
  24. I included that link only to show that the dealer may not be the exclusive authority on those and the only source. Kind of like my experience with slide seals for my 5ers. I have found several sources for them, and bought and replaced them in kind. Both of my 5ers are out of production with manufacturer out of that business.
  25. Wouldnt this be like a windshield replacement, which are often done using the same rubber gasket over again?? Seems like the parts guys are getting paid to sell parts, whether needed or not. An assembly rather than the needed PART. Will this help? https://www.vanderhaags.com/Search-Results.php?manufacturer=volvo&inventorytype=sleeper-window
