  1. I agree,IMO his driving demonstrated how much he thought of his family.
  2. Buying an ESC is no different than buying health insurance on your person. You are betting you'll encounter high medical expenses during the life of the contract; the Ins. company is betting you'll stay healthy and not need medical care. A man on a different RVing forum now wishes he had bought an ESC when he bought a newer MH. The engine blew 2 different times, resulting in his out-of-pocket expenses of $30,000 total. i would not recommend an ESC for a towable, but , new trailers have so much electronics and CANBUS in them they are very exensive to repair/replace the electronics systems. I would not buy an ESC from a selling dealer, the price is too inflated, plus they want the buyer to add the ESC cost into the financing, which greatly increases the total cost of the extended service contract. Contact wholesalewarranties.com They are an independent ESC agency and find the best deal for that particular persons needs. We bought an ESC from Camping World (paid cash) when we bought this MH from consignment. Our reasoning was, since this MH had been parked in a barn for 8 years, since the owner was in poor health, buying the ESC seemed prudent. The ESC more than paid for itself during the 3 yr. contract, including deductibles and diagnostic fees (which BTW must be performed and paid by the owner before anything else) That's my opinion; it and $2 will buy a cup of coffee at some places.
  3. The way I read that website his pickup has a 11,000lb. towing capacity; that pickup will run out of carrying capacity before anything else. It's limited by the weight capacity of the SRW load range . For example (since we don't know his tire size), a 235/85R16 load range E tire has a maximum load capacity of 3,040#. Which means the rear axle has a maximum capacity of 6,080# for a SRW pickup. Crew cab, 8’ box (4WD) with single rear wheels: 6.0L: 4990 / 11000 6.6L: 5262 / 11600 Towing specs are listed in the owners manual.
  4. It's a play on words, yes misleading to a casual reader.
  5. You are right of course. In the beginning I was paying what is now Dish and the programming was add-free. It was on C-band back then.

    Tug test.

I was pounded with the tug-test when I was taught to drive a rig back in the 1970's My "instructor" was a man getting ready to retire from trucking. I didn't do much road driving; he said learning the ropes in the truck lot was where a driver earned his money, anyone could drive in a straight line. When we bought a dually pickup and 5er, I did a tug-test in the dealers lot, the salesman asked what I was doing when I only raised the landing legs a few inches at first. I towed a 5er for 11 years and only dropped one once, but the legs prevented damage to anything but my ego. Yup, I had forgotten to engage the safety lever on the 20K Reese hitch.
  8. "Being plagued with adds"; how is that different that paying over $100/month to watch Dish Network with adds?
  9. Luxury RV park is the name of the park, not the rating.
  10. I agree completely! The truck driver was gaining on the other semi I assume to pass it. At anything over 40 MPH a sudden change in trajectory can have tragic results for tractor/trailer units, including pickups towing 5ers. The video shows the semi driver edging to the left and still got hit. Every RVing forum talks about the mininum HP for a MH is 1 hp per 100 lbs, a 1-100 ratio. At most a semi with a 500HP engine and weighing 80,000# is a 1-160 ratio; and I doubt most have that much HP. The MH driver was clearly driving recklessly and paid the price.
  11. The long-haul trucking industry has been dealing with the state fuel tax issue for decades.
  12. I agree. I suspect insurance companies will become involved because most auto insurance companies have already introduced plans with miles driven tied to annual policy rates. They give you a module that plugs into your OBD port on your vehicle. I'm assuming the companies have already figured out how to adapt that module to EV's too. I'd like that option, DW has a 2017 Jeep GC limited with 12,xxx miles on the odometer. My 2013 Chevy Silverado has 87,xxx miles.

  15. OK guys, you're gonna cause Al Gore to have apoplexy. Oh wait; he invented the internet, perhaps he has a solution for AI becoming dominant.
  16. Carefree of Colorado manual awning service manual: https://catalog.carefreeofcolorado.com/documents/Patio-Awning-Service-Manual.pdf includes how to wind spring tension/replace spring on page 6. If you have a motorized awning, look up that service manual.
  17. I saw the dash-cam video on irv2.com. That driver was wrong in so many ways, and the quick exit from the cab indicates he was not wearing a seat belt. I assume not wearing his seat belt earned him extra points towards the Darwin Award. Rather idiotic driving for a man traveling with his family IMO.
  18. klindww, that is a good time to have your handguns cleaned and inspected too. The entire Canada firearms act was revised effective Oct. 21, 2022, which in reality makes it impossible to legally enter Canada with a firearm unless you are a member of a recognized team sporting event for shooting, and then only for the specified event dates. This is the official position of the U.S.A. state dept. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/travelers-with-special-considerations/traveling-abroad-with-firearms.html
  19. Make and model of rear camera system, hard-wired or wireless? FWIW, I have a Voyager wireless system, the monitor had a vid 1 and a vid 2 selection. If i accidentally hit the selector button the screen goes black. touch it again the video returns..
  20. If I may add to Kirks good advice; In addition to paint-type coatings, you might compare that cost to the cost and work of re-covering the roof with Dicor BritePly membrane. Might make the cost of paint-type products seem more reasonable. Installation instructions: https://www.camperpartsworld.com/BriteTEKReplacementRVRoof30x86.html Dicor aftermarket membrane comes with a 12-yr limited warranty. https://dicorproducts.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2022/03/BRITEPLY_RETROFIT_WARRANTY.pdf
  21. When a military membrer joins militarycampgrounds.us Larry mails you a CD with all the famcamps and information to use off-line with your laptop. Allstays requires a cell signal and internet service.
  22. I wonder if spraying your fuel lines with this would seal an air leak? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Gorilla-14-oz-Waterproof-Patch-and-Seal-Clear-Spray-Paint-104056/315333263 Yep, and that can correct a poor ground condition, which in turn can prevent proper operation of the flame proving element or spark igniter. Every 12V circuit must have just as good a ground side as it does a positive side to function properly.
  23. These water heaters work off 12V and the contacts get corroded enough to prevent current flow, especially the potted circuit board. Unplug each connection approx. 3X and reattach to create a good contact again. Sometimes I've had to polish contacts with a pencil eraser. If that doesn't fix an ignition problem the only thing you lost is time. BTW, over 80% of all 12V problems is a poor/missing ground.
