  1. We really don't want to be poking holes in wires. It lets in moisture and corrodes the copper. Don't ask how I know.🙄
  2. Dang kids, can't type in English.....
  3. Just noodling, and no coffee yet, so I may be off a bit........... Using your numbers above, adding 12" behind the pin and a small sleeper cab gives a truck in the 40'-45' range. If titled as a MH, it's getting close to legal limits, and makes for a very short trailer. Much of the length issues go away with a toy hauler, at the expense of living space. There's a member (old timer) who loads a jeep and a Suzuki DR650 side by side.
  4. Brian, settle down please. All you'll need to know pertaining to length laws is available in the Heavy Haulers Resource Guide, compiled by Mark Bruss. It's all well documented, and has many links to state and federal laws. Please do some reading before accusing those who've offered advice of just "thinking" they know the laws. This not the 1st, or even the 100th, time this subject has been beaten to death. And you are not the first person to come barging in thinking they know all about HDTs. Do some homework, then come back and we'll try to help.
  5. Hopefully big5er will step in and correct me if I'm wrong here, but as Steve said, there's no length limit on a road tractor. But, when you carry a lod on a bed, it's no longer a tractor, it's a truck, no matter what type hitch. Most states have a length limit of an rv at 45', and 65' for combination. This is NOT reciprocal, so local law applies when you leave your home state, same as any other length/width/weight laws. You have a lot of homework to do. Good luck.
  6. I like your rant. I believe the new electronic "safety features" are creating a lot of careless operators. I want no distractions when I drive. If my phone rings either my wife answers it, or I'll listen to a voice mail once I'm stopped. And yes, one of the worst offenders is my mom (87 next week). This morning, I was hauling grain to the elevator. When I didn't pick up right away, she called again. Old people..............
  7. I guess I'm only half as crazy, cuz I only get one week of wandering around the Smokies.........
  8. Magic? Lawrence, you might wanty to cipher that one again . Down here, south of the border, if you remove 50% from the front, you'd put 150% on the rear axle. That said, I wholley agree with the idea of using a tape and paper to lay it out. Sort of like using a pencil to solve a problem rather than a calculator, and just having blind faith the electronic thingy is correct. And Phil, he's gonna pull a very short trailer.😜
  9. And I'll add, Darryl is slacking in the beer drinking efforts of our brother red-necks.
  10. Remember, it's those crazy Canucks. Might be beer involved.
  11. Sky hook. Betcha Amazon has 'em. They gots everything.
  12. My memory's not too good, it's been 5 ears since we've been there, but I believe they're loading the mh onto the roll back in the cg.
  13. Hmmm... I thought "shmeg" was that dark lump that came out of the 5 gallon bucket of hydraulic fluid you were pouring in the funnel, refilling the rear end of a JD tractor. Just happened to me today. 😮 So, do I figure the new filters will catch it, or drain out 18 gallons of oil, hoping said lump comes out too?

    Ac problem

All those lines are expensive. But, if you ever want to sell the truck, they might be a good investment. A prospective buyer may just pass on your truck, wondering where else you took a shortcut. I've had to replace mine, in three seperate events. If you have one bad, and others are pretty corroded, just bite the bullet and do them all. This not a cheap game we're playing, and trying to slide by can bite you in the wallet down the road.
  15. We lived next to an interstate interchange, with a gravel pit, for 8 years. Being awakened at 0430 by jokers with straight pipes and jakes has soured me on call it "music."
  16. Hmmmmm..... Looks pretty nice. Did you submit it to the HHRG?
  17. When I do that, the passenger side air bag hits me upside the head.
  18. Last time I tried to get a ride in a glider, they had a 250# weight limit...........☚ī¸

    Applying Decals

Decals, or vinyl? There's a big difference. I've never seen decals applied dry. As Darryl said, if dry, make sure you got it positioned correctly. I've done a few vinyl signs and had no problem. Use tape to position/hold everything where you want it and start peeling and pressing as you go, slowly.
  20. I know what's gonna top my Christmas list. 😁 Ya never know. Found a motorcycle under the tree once..........
  21. Plain bearings like lots 'o grease. Sealed bearings,,,,, a little dab will do ya.
  22. I doubt that gr 8 bolt is any better than a gr 5, or gr 2 for that matter, as in this application, it's no better than a cotter pin, as it has no load. Don't get me wrong, gr 8 has it's place, it's just not every place.
  23. Hmmmmm, just a little faster and no muffler needed, cuz the sound won't keep witch'ya.
