    Tinker Week?

I guess I missed something..... Is it the air pressure, or the oil pressure, or both, that's shutting you down? I think this is gonna be something hard to find, and silly simple when you find it. Like cheap parts and $$$ labor. Let me add, Paul told me that he has a loud air leak under the cab, on the drivers' side. Isn't that where Volvo put the air governor on those trucks? Could it be related? Like the governor is telling the compressor to cease functions, but it still builds pressure until the governor pops of? Meanwhile, over pressured air is escaping from the compressor into an oil galley or sump'n.

At least it did it in the comfort of your own driveway, rather than in Texarkana. My money's on a blown gasket in the compressor.

    Tinker Week?

They need to test performance after the tape has "seasoned" in the toolbox for a few years.🤔 Last spring, I found a roll of tape that the river washed into one of my fields. It looks fine, and is on my work bench now. Perhaps it's past it's prime.

    HDT Jeep Hauler

If we were in the market for a hauler, this one would be near the top of the list. Nicely done.

    Tinker Week?

The day we spent when you and Rocky came, then working with Paul G. (adept99) is what sparked the idea. Then working with Jeff this week cemented it.

    Tinker Week?

Bubble gum and baling wire are so old skool. Now we use zip ties and duct tape. I had wanted to do this the week after the ECR, but so many folks hang out for the "after party", plus we have an appointment at Parkers Crossroads for some work on the rv. And, we know of a couple folks who will be at Little Farm in early June. A benefit of doing this at the last minute is that it'll hopefully be small this year, and can get a feel for what folks want.

    Tinker Week?

Dr.Pepper will be available, especially for any newly retired folks. My shop is near exit 21 on I-275 around Cincinnati. Look for Pope Farms of Ohio on google maps. It's 20 miles from the cg. We can get two trucks in the shop at once, and more on the concrete aprons at each end. I have tools and hardware on hand, but don't plan on providing a lot of materials. A few of you have been here and participated in projects before. While this certainly is no truck repair facility, we can have some fun doing simple projects and just have fun. If you've been thinking of changing out air bags, putting on a new muffler, modifying your bed, etc, c'mon over. I gots plenty of duct tape and zip ties.

    Tinker Week?

Susan and I have been thinking of hosting a "gathering", not a rally, where folks could drop bye and we'd collectively fix stuff. I'm not volunteering to repair everyone's trucks, but we have a decent farm shop with basic tools, concrete floor, refrigerator, and a guard cat. Well, Jeff and Cindy Brett stayed with us for a few days, we worked on their truck a bit, and I proposed the idea to them. After some bantering, and a couple beers, we thought early June might work. There's a big rig friendly cg not far away, some of you have stayed at Little Farm on the River, in Rising Sun Indiana. http://www.littlefarmresort.com/ I'm thinking we just hang out, bring a couple of trucks to our shop each day, and repair/modify/polish, or whatever No seminars, no banquet, just tinkering, campfires, and story tell'n. Think about it..........
  9. Let me add, it's folks like Randy that helped us when we decided to upgrade. I asked about toy haulers, and the general consensus was to find a Carriage or Newmar. We now have a Newmar X-Aire, which was discontinued several years ago. I'm thankful for such a knowledgeable group.
  10. I think many get into the rv'ing game, with no back ground in things mechanical. They're not dumb, just inexperienced. They study the specs, and talk to salesmen, which leads them to the conclusion that a certain class truck is adequate. None of their sources discuss the need for "margin", in case things don't follow the script. Hopefully, they gain experience before someone gets hurt.
  11. Looking at hoses is good, but don't forget to look at the metal lines as well. We had one fail last year, right where a mounting tab was welded on. I've since replaced every steel line on the coolant system, as well as the flexible lines.
  12. We continue to put faces to folks here. A few days ago, we bumped in to Bob and Sue Guthrie, aka Hither and Yon, at the SKP park near Summerdale, AL. We went out for supper and had a nice visit. Yesterday, met up with Phil, aka Big 5er, for supper and swapping lies. He even bought supper.
  13. Pulling out of Cedar Key in the morning, headed for the Escapees park near Mobile, AL for few days, then working our way to the Texas Hill Country to ride the bikes and visit with friends. We might even slow down in Houston long enough for a Dr. Pepper............
  14. We're in Polk City, FL, at the LeLynn RV park, visiting family and waiting for the RV show in Tampa.
  15. We're in Crossville, Tn, at Deer Run, with Paul and Paula, and another couple, enjoying the "refreshing" fall weather. Cold and rainy, but good company.

    Air leak help

The push to connect, aka DOT fittings, are stupid easy to refurbish, Usually easier than replacing. See the above link to find the orings. Likely places for leaks are: pass through, near steering column, around the brake valve on the firewall, and one of your air tanks, a real booger to detect. I have a whisper, and still use the bubble solution on occasion.
  17. Welcome to the group. You'll find lots of friendly folks and an over load of info at the rally. And the best place to shop for trucks is here, in the "for Sale" section.
  18. It's been a while... we had our drivers' door apart to repair the regulator/scissors mechanism. Volvo wanted lots of $$$ for it, and all it needed was the nylon blocks that run in the channels. I made some from scrap HDPE. Ain't pretty, but who will ever see it? I believe I left the window in the door during the repair.
  19. I spent some time this morning checking out the campground and surrounding area. Looks like a great "base camp" for a motorcycle tour.
  20. We're very familiar with Little Farm. It's actually on the same side of the Ohio River as Cincy, and down stream 30+ miles. One of our farms is about two miles upstream.
  21. We're on the west side of Cincy. Take the short-cut from I-74 to I-275, via Indiana SR1. Signs warn truckers to avoid, but it's fine. If you're staying near us, give me a holler. 513.284.6927. It'll go to voice mail, leave a message. Indian Springs campground works well for our rigs and is very near our place.
  22. I have two P.O.S. wheel chocks from Harbor Fright, and honestly, they're the best things I ever bought there. I put them up against the tie down strip in the front, and DO NOT tie to the chock, rather to the floor anchors. Honestly, anything to keep the front wheel straight helps tremendously. The chock is just icing on the cake.
