bigredhdt
The hood on my vnl cracked around the hinge point. Can this be repaired or do I need to replace it?
Wrknrvr
Someone good with fiberglass repair should be able to fix it. Even a boat shop or regular body shop should be able to fix it. Hope this helps, Vern
Alie&Jim's Carrilite
If you go to the HHRV site here http://www.hhrvresource.com/search/node/hood hinge repair You should be able to see how others have done this repair. solo318
replace it. it WILL crack again. Mine has been fixed on both hinges and cracked again on both sides. the replacement hoods are 1 piece instead of 3. they hold up better. Quote Click For Full-Size Image. bigredhdt
Are you talking about an aftermarket hood? If so, what kind?
JPL
Big That can be repaired with plenty of glass mat over some 16 gage steel or alum. Use West system Epoxy. I've fixed a couple on working trucks and they do take a beating but they are still ticking. The secret is a lot of glass and wrap it tight and use plenty of metal to give it strength. hone eagle
once it is fixed -stop letting it slam to close/lock- lower it slowly and walk around and click it shut right to left. fibreglas is infinitely repairable but why do it constantly Quote 2005 volvo 670 freedomline singledNewmar Torrey Pine 34rskswoot woot
GlennWest
Interesting, don't believe it is possible to slam my Freightshaker hood. Same with the Volvo if the hood struts are good. Quote 2006 Volvo VNL 430, 2006 smart cabrio cdi, 2000 Triple E Topaz 30'
hone eagle
my struts are new and if you push it and let gravity take over it will slam shut and lock,I lower mine never letting go and slowly lower it to contact -it will not lock however . I then walk from side to side and with the palm of my hand push and click/latch it .the small cracks at the hinges have never increased in size in the 8 years of ownership.
