Kirk W
From the Escapees Facebook page... Quote At last.....an exciting addition to the BoF lineup! Nomadic Families is an Escapees BoF formed to bring rv’ing families together to share ideas and information about our lifestyle. It’s also a place to make friends and lasting memories. Our mission is to promote exploration and freedom to see the world on our terms, while still maintaining a form of “village,” or community. Nomadic Families will be a place for rv’ing kids and teens to make lasting connections with others living this unique lifestyle. This community will be a safe place, where kids are treated as equals and are encouraged to explore their surroundings, unhindered by societal standards. Our goal is to have several larger Nomadic Families events each year, but we encourage community members to form their own smaller, more intimate gatherings year round. Remember, this is YOUR community. We welcome your input, ideas, and involvement. If you are an Escapee member and want to join in the fun, come on over and join our FB group. Nomadic Families We have lots of plans and look forward to welcoming ALL traveling families from the newbies with littles to the grandparents who have the kids for the summer!! bobsallyh
Kirk, it would have been nice if they also would have posted here, on the forum. Many of us don't do Facebook.
Twotoes
I don't even have a Facebook account. I find it to be anti-social media. It would be nice to have an over 55+ fulltimers BOF as well. They could call it Nomadic Seniors. It's called the Boomers. (Although you don't *have* to be over 55 -- but most are -- and you don't *have* to be fulltimers -- but probably the majority are.) 2gypsies
The Boomer group accepts any age...... and they are all ages. It's an awesome fun, active group & easy to make friends within it. No officers; no rules. Their big gathering is in January in Quartzsite.... approx. 150+ rigs present during a 2-week period. There are other planned meet-ups during the year in various places. Mini-rangs happen as people travel. Most people who are into that sort of thing consider the baby boomers to be those who were born between 1946 and 1964. I am aware that nowadays that BOF will accept pretty much anyone who wishes to join, but that was not always the case in the early days. Also, at least in the beginning it also hinged around a gathering on the deserts near Quartzsite, which has never been on our favorites list. sandsys
I meant age 40 to be the year they joined the over-the-hill gang. I remember black balloons and Pepto Bismal being part of a 40th birthday party. Barbaraok
I remember 50 as being the year for black balloons, black streamers, etc. 40 - just hitting my stride!
