Chuck
On our maiden voyage from Nor Cal to El Paso in the 2003 vnl 610. Unfortunately, still pulling my 29 ft Maxlite TT. Been out 3 nights. Got the Harley on a Rampage lift on the bed. The comments are great. "Got enough truck?", "is that trailer heavy?" , "Overkill?", " I been thinking about doing that!". To "that is a beautiful truck." Lol. We still have 3 months to go!!

Moresmoke
I had the got enough truck line from an older gentleman at a rest stop. I just replied "I've got more than enough truck." He responded with "No s*** man!"😁 Still not sure about the two big thumbs up from the JB Hunt trainer though...

noteven
Gee I never get asked “the questions” darn it. Maybe it’s because my KW dually is such a nice little well proportioned truck and... or they are scared to get close to my outfit in case some falls off it ... anyways... Chuck- some answers you maybe could use: 1. They told me a dually has waaay more stability. It sure do! 2. No. It’s for the hog. 3. Pardon? When I get The I’ve been thinking one I have a chat about the pros and cons. "Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.
RandyA
To "Got enough truck?"...... I reply, "It is better to have more truck than you need than to need more truck than you have." Then "we" may get into the discussion of crossing mountains - especially going down. Crosswinds, a trailer heavier than the truck wanting to go in one direction and the truck another (scary situation - reason we have a 670), the heavier trailer will win! Fuel tank size (300 gallons). ROOM IN THE TRUCK CAB - handy refrigerator being #1 feature. Total air springs - suspension, cab and especially seats. Improved visibility by being up high. Extreme tire mileage, HDT tires can actually cost less than PU tires. Raise the hood and show how most every item prone to failure is right in front of you so you can quickly change it out (alternator, belts, starter, filters, hoses, etc.) not buried deep under the hood requiring many hours of labor. You can go on and on with many other features - just don't bad mouth their PU in the process, especially if you are in the South and the other guy introduces himself as Buba! Dollytrolley
Once in a while when we go on a day trip to town to tank up for horse water (330 gal) and a ton or so of hay we sometimes just drop the Suzuki Samurai towbar on the Dollytrolley hitch so we can scoot around town and get into restricted parking spots ........ One day we found a good price on diesel at a casino fuel stop and as I was fueling the Trolley a couple of guys stopped and one ask "so you think your truck is big enough to tow that Suzuki?"........ I look shocked.......I lay down the hose.....I trot back to the back of the cargo box .......I put my hands on my hips and shake my head and say ......."dang those darn kids.....they hitched that darn Sammy up AGAIN.....I guess I should walk around this thing some days instead of just hopping in for a beer run....." If I do my skit right they just shake their head and walk off..... Now when we once in a while towing the Sammy behind our class A DP motor home the only comment we get is complements on how nice our original under 28k Sammy looks......the funny thing is that our motorhome is a fair size larger than the old Freightshaker......go figure....... Vegas Teacher
When Vegas Flyer and I went to get my semi we drove from Tampa Bay Florida to Las Vegas along highway 10 for much of the way. We took a full day and drove from Houston to El Paso on the second full day of travel. I truly could not believe the difference between one side or the other of I - 10. America vs. Mexico, it left an impression on me. I have been to T.J. and Nuevo Laredo before but for some reason this really made me feel lucky I grew up in the good old USA! Sehc
Both sides of I-10 are in USA. It gets close in El Paso. But there is still another highway, lots of railroad tracks, a river, and beautiful Las Tortugas park. I could not see much difference between El Paso in this area and what was on the far other side of the border.

I had a Suzuki Sidekick - little smaller than a Samurai. Used it to tow my ski boat up and over the Cascades into eastern Oregon. The boat was about twice as long as the Sidekick, and taller. No trailer brakes. Towed like a dream, I even managed to keep it just north of 55 mph on the uphills, used the transmission for downhills, but boy did I get looks!
