Another Grey day. Maybe the days are getting old too. I didn't do much today. I played around in my shop most of the morning and yaked with one of my Cowgirls this afternoon. I've decided to leave for SC about April 15th. It will take close to 2 weeks to get there the way I travel. I haven't been sleeping well lately because of the hip pain so I'll keep the driving days short. It ain't nice to sleep while driving unless someone else is doing the driving.

Thanks for the "Welcome Back" guys. Still haven't found a mirror to replace the one broken by the on coming truck. Crazy trip for sure. Lots of stories and met some great people too. It is a different world down there. All traffic signs are just a suggestion and the road is sooo narrow. LOL. No kidding. Everyone was very happy to be back in the USA.

Got to be in San Antonio by 3/24 then we'll be parked for a month to catch our breath.

Jeff

Glad you guys made it back mostly in one piece and that a good time was had! Can't wait to hear and see all about what we missed. Are you still planning on the NE this Summer or is it too early to get the chalk out?!!

My husband is amazing.

Yes, he is. He got that last stubborn day/night shade out of my van's window. BTW, the new van owner likes the curtains you hemmed for me. My thanks go to both of you.

We have made it almost to our final destination. We are in Tulalip Casino, north of Everett. Again kudos to my husband and chauffeur. With all the problems we had with the bearing/tire/rim, we are not right where we had planned.

I learned something today that I want to share with our fellow Canadian Escapees. Thanks to a friendly cashier at a Shell station, we now know how to put in the postal code at the pump with our Canadian debit card. For the numbers, put in such, skip the letters and add 00 at the end. For example, our postal code is

V1K 0A1 so we would put in 1 0 1 0 0 as our zip code.

After spending a month at the SKP Park in Benson we headed to Palm Creek RV Resort in Casa Grande and spent a week. Then today we rolled here to The Palms RV Resort in Yuma to spend a few days. It's supposed to be 90 tomorrow and our windshield is facing west :(, cry me a river. I think Monday we will head north.

Another cloudy day. Deming's average for cloudy days per year is 77 days. I think we've had more than that in the past week. why can't they save all the cloudy days for late summer when it sores to 100+degrees? They should also make all the hill go down so it's easier to walk on them but they just don't listen. I didn't accomplish a darn thing today so it's a little hard to think of something to write. you'll have to do with this.

And we are here! Not stress free though. After we spent the night in a vacant lot next to a liquor store, Doug fixed the bearing and noticed that the rim was bent. We bought a new tire on a new rim and he fixed it all up. We made La Grande, Oregon by dark and were off again very early. We made Tulalip by suppertime and after stopping at Walmart, Doug check the bearing. It was warm. Oh no, not again. We didn't sleep much and then early this morning he took the wheel off and checked out the bearing all was well. No clue what was wrong but we took off. We stopped four times and he checked the wheel again. Cold, just like the rest of them. So, here we are.

Wonderful to see Graeme who is here with me at McDonald's. I have no phone and no internet, until pension day, so if you don't hear from me, that's why. I have updated the map though.

And so we begin our other life.

Toni's comment about their "other life: resonates with me. There's my life with Dave in the apartment and my life away from him whenever I travel elsewhere. Trying to switch back to the apartment is proving a little harder this time because I haven't figured out yet how to bring bits of the other life into this one successfully. It's just so much easier to let go of the other life and slip back into this one the way it was. But, I don't want to regain that 35 pounds nor do I want to lose that increased mobility. So, something needs to give somewhere. i wonder what and how it will be?

Get out and walk those hallways. That's what my dad did when they lived in New York after he had his second open heart surgery. His hallways even had a railing he could hold on to. You have come so far and I am so proud of you.

Now that was a nice bird, I can't believe anything could be as stubborn as Ed. Let us know when you head east and maybe we can get together.

She ended up with a scissor beak and Ed has to catch her and trim it. She gives him a hard time and sometimes she doesn't want to go in her cage. She will get on the stick (still won't get on his finger) and just as she gets close to her cage she flies off in the other direction. It gives him something to do. haha

We would love to get together. I was just looking to see if we could head that way. I haven't mapped out our route. So I will let you know when we head out.

We will be staying around the area of the Shenandoah Valley close to Harrisonburg. It would be great if we could meet up.

I'm not quite sure what is considered Shenandoah Valley but we're going to be around Williamsburg and Norfolk so we'll have to make a point to meet up. The Lavins are in Williamsburg. Terry's brother is in Roanoke. We probably won't get to Virginia until May sometime. Our schedule continually changes. Oops ... for the first time in a long time, we don't have much of a schedule for April. We can coordinate. We'll probably head back to Portland for a couple months in June but plan on being back to Norfolk after that. How long are you going to be around Harrisonburg?

We did have a little sunshine today and tonight i got a glimps of the comet but boy is it getting had to see. Not only is it getting farther and farther away but it's location is getting closer and closer to the horizon as night falls, It's getting hard to distinguish between the fuzzy comet and the soupy fuzz of the earths atmosphere. I spent most of the morning at Wally World replenishing my groceries. This afternoon I worked in my shop for a while then tonight was LEO (Lets Eat Out) So I took 2 Cowgirls and a Dude to the Truck stop for dinner. And that's it from Deming.

Just checking in to make sure everyone is doing well.

Toni, glad you finally made it and your nerves can settle down.

we are still here in Havasu. Now that the weather has warmed up, we are spending a fair amount of time out on the boat, enjoying the water. Every time a "go-fast" flies by, Paul gets antsy to go get the jet boat from Michigan.

The house project is still moving along. Our customization list is done. We'll have 2 FHU spots :)

And why would you have a 60 ft rv garage when you could bump it to 65 feet? yikes. and it will be 18 feet wide so we can open all the slides. 1800 sq feet of living space and.....1800 sq ft of garage space, lol Paul will be in heaven.

Nerves are settling. We are at the same place we always stay but an amazingly different site. The owners have made a riding ring in the back of their property and there we sit, beside a duck pond, completely on our own. The rain, oh the rain, unreal. Pouring Pounding on the roof. We don't have boots.

Glad you made it back safely to your "other life" Toni and Doug. Also now is not the time give up on what you've accomplished over the last few months Linda. Keep strong.

Saw Roger and Lynn along with Dianne and Tom in Benson yesterday. Got so show off our new baby to them.

As we are streaking across I-10 toward San Antonio we waved at you Lee when we passed Deming. Hope you saw us. One night here in Van Horn and we continue the journey. This motorhome will think we are mad at it when we are parked for a month. LOL.

Tina plans to update the blog with pictures when we get settled in Texas.

Travel safe everyone.

Oh, was that you? I thought it was some weekender who's rig got infested with fire ants doing all the gyrations in there. Was that a Teacup Chihuahua I saw on the dash or a Great Dane that got wet and shrunk.

It was fairly nice in Deming today but a little too cloudy to suit me. It looks like it may clear up tonight. I bought a pair of khaki pants about a month ago. the cuffs were all goofed up. today I tore the cuffs out, ironed out the creases the re-did the cuffs. They look pretty good now if I do say so myself. Who needs a cowgirl? I wish these skies would clear up long enough to take a trip to City of Rocks with my little trailer and telescope. With this hip pain I'm having every night I'm beginning to wonder if I'll be able to sleep in the little trailer. Oh well, at least it will be all ready to sell again if it don't work out. I've practically rebuilt it.

I came over to the shop to clean it up after the mess I made this morning. As you can see I'm not doing much cleaning. Maybe tomorrow. The Lo-Hi RV Ranch spring rally started today. I don't go to rallies so I lay low while they play their silly games. We are finally getting some spring weather here. It hit 80 today and we got a little Sunshine this morning but then the clouds come rolling in so no star gazing tonight. I did get a peak at the comet last night between the clouds. It's getting very dim so I don't expect to be able to follow it much more. It's in Casseopeia about 2 degrees North (right) of Delta Casseopeia (The 4th star up from the lowest part of the W.) if we could only get some predictably clear skies I still would like to take my little trailer and telescope up to City of Rocks for a couple of nights before I head for SC.

After nearly four months in AZ it's finally time to make the migration slowly north. We're heading out of Benson on Thursday and will stop over in Deming, NM at the SKP park there for two nights. Lee, are you available for lunch or something on Friday? I can even bring my own cowgirl...in fact, the one I have in mind insists on it! :D
