The Class-less Class

All of these short 10, 12, 25 mile moves are all very tolerable but the short ones I hate are when a park tells you you need to move from one space to another. We have only had to do that once but have seen others have to do it many times and it's hard to make any sense of it at times.

True that Dave...and I suppose THE shortest is when you have to move to the site next to your old one! ;)

We ran into Jerry and Janice today. Actually, that's not the way it really happened. We were in a crosswalk and they almost wiped us out. We didn't realize who it was until this crazy man in a truck started yelling at us to get out of the crosswalk. The man was Jerry, go figure. After that the day went really fast as we yakked about everyone we all knew. Yep, we yakked about YOU too.

How exciting. I hope you talked about us.

Hugs to the four of you.

We have you all beat! Our shortest trip was from one campground to another when we were in Robertsdale, Alabama. Total milage was 12 miles!!!

I checked to see if I could beat that with the local campground we stayed at when preparing to go full-time but my map says it is 12 miles so we only tied you. :)

Then i read Dave's post about moving within a campground so I guess the time we had to move up on the hill to avoid a flooding river was even shorter than that.

Those moves do help offset the occasional too long day, right? Although they don't help you feel rested at the end of one of those longer days.

Hmm. Did we talk about you? We most certainly did!! We talked about you and just about everyone else. There was a lot to say!

While the rest of you were trying to figure out who had the record for the shortest move, we moved down the road to the home of the Duck Dynasty Rednecks. We ate at their restaurant, shopped at their warehouse and after that we figured we had seen all there was to see in this little town.

I've only got one week before I hit the road for SC. With all this short trip competition I'll have to move one site closer to the gate each day for the 8 nights I have left here in order to come out close to the shortest trip taker in the group. The front office will kill me for causing all the paperwork of changing sites. LOL

Freddy called this morning and said that the gearbox came in and he was about to crawl under the rig and put it on and be ready to leave in the morning. I hope everything works to his satisfaction when he get's it done. He said he'd call again when he got it working but it's dark now and I haven't got a call yet. If I don't hear from him in the morning I'll go down to the SKP park and see what the problem is. He said the reason it took so long is the company it came from didn't ship it until the following Monday. Then Jimmy was closed for the Easter weekend but it came the first thing this morning. I hope this took care of the problem permanently. I'm doing real well on my getting ready to go. The insurance papers came and I paid for next year this morning. I got my dividend checks into the bank this morning too. The guy that will torque my lug nuts, check my tires and grease my hitch said he would get it done tomorrow or Wednesday. The president also assigned watering the trees I've been taking care of to him. About all that is left is one more trip to Wally World for groceries I've run a little low on, then hook up and hit the road. Yeah.

Sounds like you've got all of your ducks in a row Lee...safe travels and enjoy the ride! Got my fingers crossed for Freddy and Delcie...they were there at Dreamcatcher's before us...crikey it can be frustrating waiting for parts!

Sharon and John (Heyduke) stopped by for happy hour yesterday. Didn't get to talk to them in Q so we made up for it last night. Hope to cross paths with them again. :)

Glad you got your slide fixed Freddie. Roger how you doing? Lee, sounds like you're ready to go. B)

We've been doing doctors visits, antique stores, flea market and Wimberley Market days. The bluebonnets are beautiful. Took the motorhome in to get an estimate on repairs, waiting for the call and email. Tina is trying to get caught up on the travel blog too.

RV repairs may dictate our summer travel plans. Glad we use chalk for writing those plans.

I've been updating all my computers today so that they won't use all my data allowance when I have to use my Jet Pac on the road. It has taken all morning and I still got a ways to go. Who said that computers were a time saver. They are flat nuts. The Galaxy tablet took over a Gig by it's self and Windows 8.1 took darn near 2 Gig. I'll set all the computers to forget my Jet Pac so they don't try to update over it at all. These tables both Galaxy and Ipad don't give you a choice to ask for permission to download and install operating system updates but do allow you to do so on App updates. But, the operating system is the one with huge update files. most of the apps are just a few Megabytes. They will be cutting of my WiFi for hogging the system.

Great, Freddy, I hope that gear box last forever. I'll see you down the road. Give Delcie a hug for me. But wipe of all the grease from working on that slide first.

Lee, My iPad's iOS doesn't update until I tell it to. Wonder why your's doesn't wait? I bet Dave could tell us. You must have something that says update automatically turned on somewhere.

Lee,

iOS devices, such as your iPad will do an automatic operating system upgrade if you do your backups to iCloud (or none at all), AND you are on WIFI AND you have the device on A/C power.

Thanks Dave my ipad is over in the shop. I'll go over there tomorrow morning and see if I can find the setting for the IOS updates, It does notify me and ask permission to download and install App updates but when it want's to redo the OS it just takes off and does it if I'm on the internet. I don't mind if I'm on a WiFi but when I'm on the Jet Pack it uses all my data allotment and don't ask about anything.

After sitting here waiting for updates to download all day I took one of the Cowgirls out to the truck stop for dinner. And now that I've got all my talking satisfied I'm back with the computer but doing statements this time. I'm about to start seeing cross eyed. I think I'll go back to using smoke signals.

From the iPad point of view, the connection to the Jet Pack is just another WIFI connection so the automatic OS update can occur.

There is no setting to disable this "feature". The only way to prevent it from happening is to never have WIFI enabled when on A/C power and you are using the Jet Pack to get to the Internet.

That make sense now. It is probably much better for battery life also to use the pad on battery while surfing then turn the Jet Pack off while recharging and go on an RV park WiFi on shore power every once in a while to let it update the OS. It also explains why I couldn't find any way to turn it off or ask permission. Thanks

Your timing on the question is good. IOS 8.3 was released today.

I just came back from the adobe deli and one of those nice big pork chops. Yummy. I took the LOW president out there for dinner one last time before I leave the area. It pays to keep her happy and she loves those pork chops. I needed to discuss a few thing with her that have to be done while I'm gone. We have had wind the last three afternoons. Not as bad as we usually get this time of year but strong enough to be uncomfortable. Maybe if I stop talking they will die down. I may not get back here until fall so everything I can do to protect all my stuff here is worth the effort. Happy travels everyone.

Well I had the consultation for my cataracts and the eye doctor gave me the go to get them done. That's a relief as those "little fuzzy" things out there in front of the bus turned out to be cars :o I told him that the straw that broke the camel's back came when we were in San Diego and that car ran into the back of us. He then backed up and ran off and I couldn't see well enough to get the tag number. Also there will be a lot fewer stars in the sky when I'm not seeing double.

We had a storm front come by us Wednesday, but it missed to the North and all we got was a little wind and rain. You really do tend to look at the clouds when you're around this part of the country. ;) It's a beautiful 70 degree day today.

Lee, glad to see you're all ready for your trip East. Sounds like you've got all your bases covered, so you can save the extra wind for your tires! We'll tighten up that barbed wire fence that holds the wind back so you can make it through here with no problems.

Steve- I go tomorrow afternoon for my pre-op meeting to have the cataract in my left eye removed on the 14th. Had the right eye done 4 years ago. Wish I had insurance to cover it. It will be nice to see clearly again. Only takes about 15 minutes for the procedure but I still don't like my eyes messed with. Do you know when they will be done?

Our motorhome goes into the shop on April 27th for a 2 week stay to fix our water damaged floor. A racing buddy and his family are moving to Buda just south of Austin. We will be using there motorhome while ours is in the shop.

Travel safe everyone.

You must have really been searching through this forum to find that post on joining rules way back in January of 2013. That's what we've always said about being a card-carrying member. You "gotta" start as a full-timer, you "gotta" post on the forum and you "gotta" attend a get together with the group in January. Keep posting and you'll eventually get one of those cards.

Okay, I'm jealous, we have did all those things and never got a card. Didn't even know there was a card to be had. How did we miss out on that. I guess I need to post more often and maybe we will get our card. <_<:)

Well, to begin with there really is no card. I think you missed the ceremony where you burned the mortgage and got the certificate because you were out digging for gold!

I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.I want a card.

I took another cowgirl out to the Deli tonight so that takes care of all the promises. Only 4 days to go then I'm on my way. I sure hope Steve used thick barbed wire on the wind fence he set up. I think I might get less wind in the lee of all the telephone post along the road. The Cowgirl that was with me when I took Freddy and Delcie to the Deli is leaving the same day as I am but she is heading for the Austin area of Texas. I'm accusing her of following me. but she insists it is me who is following her. I moved my telescope back into my trailer today so that's out of the way and now it's in my fancy shock proof box so I don't have to put it up on the bed every day while I'm traveling. I might just leave it for my GG niece to play with. It is sure getting heavy. But then I'd have to buy something else for my little trailer to tote around. Maybe I can tote one of the cowgirls around to lift it for me.

Wow now the next time we see everyone, you can all see clearly!! Ed is scheduled to have his left eye cataract removed on the 23 of April. Can't do the laser version since its $1500 more than what medicare pays for, so its the old fashion way for him. Ourpatient, Doctor says it will take about 7 minutes!!! The operation may be free but we had to spend over $200 for the eye drops to use starting 5 days prior and after!!!!!
