steved44
Had a nice trip up the hill to Flagstaff yesterday. That sure is a pretty drive and the road (I-17) is in good shape. We finally landed in Gallup at the Walmart parking lot and is it ever full of RV's I'm going to have to wait until the guy beside me leaves before I can get out of here. Seems like everyone was coming in here last night. They have one side of the lot for 18 wheelers and the other for RV's so I guess this must happen all the time. At least there's a Carl Jr's within walking distance. Now to find a little diesel and head out. Have to make it to Oklahoma by Wednesday to get a parking spot in Norman near our son's house. Roger, sorry the Beave is still giving you trouble and Lynn quit that passing out. Hope you get feeling good again. IYQ
Google up your computer dis-assembly manual and take it apart, a clean and wiggle everything session can quite often revive something that isn't working. If nothing else you'll know how to get the good bits out of it before you scrap it. I finally got enough stuff cleared off my table to take my old note book apart. The Maintenance manual was generic for several models and really didn't apply completely to my old computer. The step for taking the hard drive out to get at the Network card didn't apply. I finally figured out how to get the hard drive out without messing it up and disconnected the Network card. I cleaned the connections with contact cleaner, wiped off the excess with Kleenex for a little abrasion and put it back together. I fired it up and walla it worked. Thanks for reminding me. I used to troubleshoot desktop computers for the Junior college in the mountains of NC but got lazy in my old age. Some of those wire connection in a notebook are hell for old fingers to get reconnected. I need an additional hand to hold the magnifying glass and two more hands to hold the wires in place while I connect them with my original hands. IYQ
Laundry day today. I took it into the laundry in town. They do a big batch of clothes plus my sheets and pillow cases, towels and wash clothes for $9. They furnish the supplies and fold all the clothes. The machines would cost that much if I did it myself. I'd rather have to make that second trip back to town to pick it up than to sit in the laundry room waiting for it to finish if I did it. The only other thing I did today was order a new battery for my old computer. only $17 from amazon but $45 from HP. Now I can put that stupid windows 8.1 computer back to duty as the door stop. I now prefer using the old computer to the either the Galaxy tablet or the Ipad air. In fact I leave the Ipad Air in my shop just in case I want to look something up while I'm over there. I'm now going to start getting this trailer cleaned up and ready for the trip to SC. I should get about 50 extra cups of coffee while sitting here planning my attack on that job. steved44
Diane & Glyn, congratulations on the new rig. I well know the process of hauling all your "stuff" from one rig to another as we just did that in January. It's exhausting at best. You not only have to move everything, but also have to figure out where to put everything in the new rig. We started the process in January and are just now finishing up. Ha Ha Best of luck on your "shake down" cruise. We made it back to Oklahoma in one piece! At least the weather held out for the drive. Every time we drive back here it seems to get farther away. Maybe we just want to stay out west! We just barely found a space at the Fairgrounds in Norman as this place is full up. Don't know what the attraction is, but we thought we would have to dry camp for awhile waiting on a space. Someone pulled out yesterday and we came in last night and took it. 50A FHU so we are set. Our son lives just a mile down the road and came by to welcome us back. Now to take a loooooooonnnnnngggggg steve and recover from the dash here. IYQ
I think Steve likes the excitement of those tornados that keep trying to dislodge OKC from the map. He must be an adrenaline junky. He even takes a Steve will waiting to be carried off by one. He should take up bungy jumping. It's safer. About all I did today was go get a tank of LP. It's pretty hard to write an interesting post about going after LP unless you hear on the radio that you won the sweet stakes on your way to the gas company. So I guess all I can do is pick on Steve Until I win the sweet stakes. Maybe I should buy a ticket first. palamine
Laundry - me too. There is only one in Merritt and it's highway robbery. We haven't got the water on in the park yet and when we do we will have our trusty washer and wonderful clothes line. If Lynn needs any instructions on eating, I would be glad to help out. We are all settled. Our staff is all settled. Met with the new contractor yesterday. We got a raise, our staff got a raise and our wish list is pretty much filled. Wanderin
We ran into Jerry and Janice today. Actually, that's not the way it really happened. We were in a crosswalk and they almost wiped us out. We didn't realize who it was until this crazy man in a truck started yelling at us to get out of the crosswalk. The man was Jerry, go figure. After that the day went really fast as we yakked about everyone we all knew. Yep, we yakked about YOU too. IYQ
I got a half house cleaning this afternoon. One of our maintenance men finally got free after spending 14 and 16 hour days during the rally. He came this afternoon and got the bathroom spic and span and walls and counters in the kitch all shinny again. He's tied up again tomorrow but may get that out of the way in the morning and come tomorrow afternoon to resume the task. If he can't make it tomorrow he'll be here Saturday morning to finish the job. He does real good work. Now I'm afraid to use anything for fear of getting it all dirty again. That's better than what my wife did. She would work all night before the housekeeper came so the housekeeper wouldn't see how dirty the house had got during the past week. I never could figure that one out. After the house cleaning ground to a halt I took the guy out to have dinner with me. But, I told him I expected my dinner dates to at least shave their legs. IYQ
I got my ears lowered today. Now I'll have to fight off all those cowgirls. But, it is cooler. The battery for my old computer came today. Boy that was fast. I only ordered it 2 days ago. I think I'll order one for my old XP computer too. That was the last operating system I really liked. They have stopped updating that system and there are a couple of thing it can't do but I still have a few thing stored on that computer. wmbillh
We decided it was better to be class-less since we had so many from different years. We came up with this name a couple nights ago and figured it fit us just fine and we're sticking with it. If you have class, you probably won't fit in but if you don't, you'll feel right at home. Our Class-less Class is open to fulltimers (aka homeless folks) who live on the road and would ordinarily belong to another year of Escapees! We'll look forward to meeting you around the campfire at sometime in the future! We definitely require an initiation (you have to know how to build a campfire) and we'll honor you with a mortgage burning ceremony and graduation certificates .... 'Tis life on the road! I want a card I want to be a card carrying member Thanks.
