  1. I looked up a couple of the news reports and it seems he has already issued an apology and on the surface at least it is better than many I have seen or heard. I am not giving him a pass at all but now I want to see what happens from here.
  2. Who carries different plates? That part is very curious.
  3. I am so aggravatted, I want to see the largest possible fine and at least some jail time even if the minium. I would like to see a barring from public lands of at least 5 years. I see this a lot at some sites where I have volunteered but this one at a place like this is most eggregious in my view. At some point it could lead to access to some places only on a guided tour and we will all pay for the few.
  4. Really wise consideration. Sounds like you have an idea already. Care to PM me the one you use?
  5. i like paying without using it as that means I didn't have anything go wrong.
  6. This is a slight conundrum as I would like to change to something at least equal but cheaper and support "our club" group but it is not a ton of difference price wise and I have had experience with the one I use and although it wasn't as seemless as they sometimes talk about the outcome has been positive except the last one and they tried to accomodate me on that one. I think it might have worked out if I had chosen to with their choice but the decision was mine and I am mostly happy with it. (I ended up with an $85. tow chg. on the truck alone,) At any rate I have recieved more than my monies worth using the one I have so I likly will stay for at least another year to get more feedback on the escapees offering. I still have at least 4months to decide. My biggest gripe currently with the one I have now is when I renew and pay online and I think early there is a discount and then they tell me to print out a new card. WELL I don't have a way to print out a card and they can't seem to mail me one. They are not the only company that does that to you these days which is frustrating a little but the Tow insurance is still valid and I leave the confirmation email in my email archives until the next year.
  7. Thanks, I knew what this stuff look like but did not know the correct terminology.
  8. How a bout a limited terminology lesson. UTV NEV LSV or where to find it.
  9. So this doesn't get overlooked I assume you are asking this of bigboomer, not Chalkie. I am curious about that also and what about the height of the little lift he uses.
  10. I saw a news report last week that said Roswell NM is about to make this legal with the proper modifications like the ones stated here. I didn't pay attention when I was up there last but I saw some operated on the streets in Silverton CO last year if memory serves.
  11. I was just wondering if there was anything to look for. This is my 3rd go round on this rig in 20 years. The one that held out the longest was the original. The second was an upgraded brand that I can't think of right now but had the remote device and it lasted about 2 years and some part burned out. This one is used takeout factory original that I bought from some skp that upgraded and it is about 3 years old since I got it used. Its not a high dollar one but has worked fine until recently. Usually my small solar will sufice. Sometimes stuff just happens.
  12. Is there any general reason why converters tend to fail? I think I am going to need a new one too. Sort of looks like they should hold up better.
  13. Confirming a second time what Yarome is saying about the waiting list. That is pretty much what the lady told me last year when I stopped to look. By building on order they don't tie up a lot of money in finished trailers sitting around trying to find a buyer. A little inconvienent for some potential customers but sort of make good sense to me in a lot of ways.
  14. I looked at 2 last year on their property. I believe that was all they had on hand. I just noticed the one outside as I was passing throught the town so I had to stop and look. My observation pretty much mirror Yaromes. I sort of think of them as a larger version of the Casta's. If I had a home base I would think they might be best for some extened travel but not fulltiming. It depends on you and what you can live with. I have known at least 3 people that full timed in the Casita's.
  15. Free advice eddie, FWIW, pay particular attention to the roof if it is epdm or the like at that age and budget for a replacement or if you go the route of a treatment be sure you get someone competent to do it if you can't. I let mine ride a little too long and I got where I couldn't risk getting up there myself so I got a treatment that was not as good as it should have been. Consequently I am dealing with it in the winter months the best I can.
  16. There are different "levels" of qualified persons out there. There are even different levels of qualified persons that will answer your questions on this forum, too. The trick is sorting them out. But there are some really informative folks here once you do.
  17. I kind of assumed something like that was the case Pieere but it didn't much matter to me if you lived in a tent full time.
  18. not much chance IMO and if at all will be so small as to mean almost nothing epecially for the common man.
  19. I don't want to hijack the OP thread so I have moved here. I still don't think I am being clear. It is on the Manufacturers site where this happens. I do know how to do  private browsing but I am still going to read through it and give it a try just in case I am missing something.  I don't mind giving them a zip code but I don't like that they limit their responses to only dealers in a certain distance of the zip code or address you give them instead of all dealers that handle their product no matter where you are located. And the only way around this that I know of is to give a zip relating to some other area.  Like Albquerque or Dallas of Memphis.

  20. It is stunning the small openings they can get through. I volunteered at a SP once that had a major issue and folks used the light trick and it seemed effective. Some use rope lights and some used spotlights shining under the rig. That is what I used and it seems like it worked. Didn't help with the ants though.
  21. Just did the same thing on the truck this year (2017) and it worked flawlessly again. This time they said in the future I would need to include a photo copy of my drivers license and not just the DL no. on the check.
  22. I don't remember how I did it but in the settings I was able to get back to bigjim so I could recognize myself. It wasn't too hard as I recall. The weather about 50 miles south of you at your Santa Fe location is good too. (Tijeras, NM)
  23. in some cases they may prefer couple but are willing to accept a single if you ask. All I have ever done was as a single.
  24. I flat don't get part of this new forum set up.  I found some comments regarding it as late as minutes ago under I think activity. I did not /do not see how to add to these comments. One big question I have is how I went from bigjim to bigjimgraduate and how do I get back to just bigjim.  I don't know who will get this or where it will be posted. I assume I will adapt to this eventually.
