  1. I don't think it is very far up to Mesa and I was up there on some main street going east and there were quite number of dealers including Camping world and some others that seem to be busy dealers. I know one was running a sail on Artic Fox trailers and 5thW. It might have been east Main St. or Broadway.
  2. I have not followed this post but if you look at the folks posted above you on this forum under their Avatar you see their skp # as I can see yours in your post. That is your club membership #. I don't know about the specific msg you are getting but if I am not logged in to the dissussion forum I will get something similar when trying to open links in posts I am reading. In other words I can read a post without being able to open a lot of links or do a reply to a topic. There may be other areas that respond the same way. To access some other functions like access my mail account I have another user id and password. I don't use it often so I sometimes forget the password and have had to call the office to get it reset. Once I get it I can access all the secure part that is for members only. Best answer is check with the office about that. I don't use the same info to acess that area as I do the forum.
  3. Just sending a note stating I am out of state worked for both the truck in Sep. and the trailer in Oct. Nice to know that the alternative to on line works. (at least through the Livingston tax office)
  4. Can anyone briefly explain what the difference between me accessing the internet on my laptop or at the library vs using a tablet with Android. I seem to not see much comment about stuff like virus protection and filters "and constant updating like I see with "Windows" Just give me the basics and let me try and absorb it if you can. Thanks
  5. What smart phone? I don't have no stinkin' smart phone. I don't want to save it to the computer at the library either. I know I am old but in some cases I just like to have a piece of paper in my little hand. Like in the outhouse, sometimes paper is just the greatest. To be clear I am pulling your chain just a little here. Nothing wrong with your way of doing it but it is nice to have an alternative. I am editing today 10/6 rather than adding another post. I just got my new sticker so sending in the note stating I am out state worked. Nice to know the alternative can work. I also got letter in the post stating I would not be getting a renewal notice on my TT which is due at the end of Nov and need the inspection so I will be contacting Tax office to clarify that since I will still be out of state.
  6. Someone with better memory will help but as I recall I printed out a paper "receipt" ? or something as proof that I had done it on line. That was a year ago so don't hold me to it. I think I did it at a library where I could use the printer.
  7. I may not have made my point clear. I have done it on line in the past but was not sure when I would be on line again AND the tax office said I could just mail it in like in the past without the inspection IF I included a note stating I was out of state. That part was brand new to me and I have taken the chance of trying it. We may have folks that can't or don't go on line at all and it would be useful information. I have never heard of anyone doing it that way before so I was asking if anyone had tried it before. I hope I was able to explain it more clearly. If it works I will report on it. If it doesn't work I may have caused myself more trouble. I sort of believe there should be a way for people to do stuff without having to go on line. In my case I have to go somewhere I can get wifi and have access to a printer.
  8. In checking with the Tax office about my voter registration I took the opportunity to ask the clerk about the self certification that I am out of state traveling and cannot get the inspection. She then said I could send in the registration renewal form, proof of insurance, a check for the proper amount, and include a note stating I am out of state and send it back to the Tax office and they will send me my renewal sticker. I an nervous but I did it yesterday. If it ends up working I will report it back on this topic in I estimate about 2 weeks. Has anyone else done it this way successfully? I will say the Polk Cty. Tax office has pretty much been cracker jack in dealing with vehicle registration in all the years I have been using them as an SKP, which is almost 20yrs.
  9. That was my thinking but I know you can run across some LEO's that are not knowledgeable or on rare occaision have an agenda. I made it through with no issues.
  10. I self certified truck and travel trailer last OCT & Nov. when passing through Texas a few weeks ago I got 4 different answers at 4 different inspection stations and one that would do the trailer but not the truck. As I was passing through and not going to Polk County risked driving on through from Texarkana to Deming via El Paso.
  11. I probably only have one more time in me. I will have to check as my DL expires early Oct but I downgraded from a CDL in 2013 to a Class A so I hope I can do it early by mail.
  12. Slightly related. I thought I could renew my Drvrs License early and went on line. For some reason the inforation allowing me to do it returned a information not located reply and that I must renew in person. In researching it said if allowed I could renew up to a year early. 2nd point I discovered that if I have a Class A, B, or CDL I have to renew in person each time. I had thought that only a CDL was required to be in person each time. Does anyone know if this is fairly new.
  13. Not workamping at the moment but may be in about a month. The problem is I make friends and end up going back a lot. I haven't been in Dallas area in a while but need to be there in about Oct. plus I will need to renew drivers license in by the end of Oct. but not in Dallas area, some where smaller and easier. Last time was in Texarkana and prior was in Livingston. I can remember that area before it got humongous.
  14. Wanderin, if you were interested, Cedar Hill SP tends to use a good number of volunteers which might work for you if you wanted to spend longer in that area at some point. Considering where it is located it is nice. I volunteer there about 7 winters but have not been there in at least 4-5 years.
  15. "What the heck is with people." Is that a trick question? At least you got someone that didn't try to say YOU rearended him. Boy, the things we can be happy about these days. Good luck with the repairs.
  16. With all the slides now on RV's we sure better like our neighbors in a lot of parks.
  17. If you IGNORE a bad frame will it go away?
  18. Its going to be a long weekend and it is starting early.
  19. where did you find the video? I looked on their site and didn't find it but with my skills and vision I could have missed it.
  20. Can't the engineering design be farmed out if they want to and get a better deal? Surely, like anything else eperience with the product should lead to better product altough I could see it at some point slowing down innovation.
  21. Percentage wise how many people really look into the aspects of rv building specs? Not a high percentage would be my guess. If they get in and like it and start talking to people who are knowledgeable then they will start trying to learn. I fell into rving almost by accident and quickly so I was as ignorant as they come. I didn't really learn a lot until I finally got on line and in to accessing this forum. Somewhat by pure dumb luck I survived the early few years.
  22. To be clear my inspection was on the pick-up not the travel trailer. It was done at Wright's Auto Body & Glass @ 112 E. New Boston Road. Nash, TX. 903-838-8536. It is on the corner of New Boston RD & Hwy 989 (which crosses I30) also called Kings Hwy.
  23. sushidog, I am curious to know if the ice bear cycles you have in the back of your truck are clones of the Honda trail 70 and how do you like them?
  24. Actually I have a titled TT now that I have traveled in since 1999. I am considering taking it off the road for a year or two and don't want to have to mess with the inspection during that time period.
