  1. I mostly see eye to eye with you on the post office but I believe we could adapt to 5 day a week delivery. I think if they do that they should increase open hours and staffing at the actual post offices or at least key ones. Now question that there are some locations that should be closed but it sure needs to be done responsibly. BTW the post office is tasked to provide other service that I admit I don't know if they are paid for doing some way. IE: Passports ,draft registration and I believe there are a few others at least that I can't think of at the moment.
  2. My second week on a route in Dallas I was taking a bathroom break at a community center with 2 gyms. Litterly on the toilet when the tornado warning actually on top of the building went off. I was told about rain, sleet, snow or the dark of night will prevent the carrier from from completing his appointed rounds BUT no one told me what to do about a tornado. To add to my problems as the pucker factor kicked in and I was getting up 2 women's volleyball teams started running into the bathroom because it was it was a smaller all block and brick room vs the gym. Later in the day I nearly got washed away trying to get through and intersection when I got hit with a wall of water due to flash flooding. Those old jeeps were really light and easy to float away or turn over. I almost gave up carrying mail that day. It it wasn't for he Marine in me I might have.
  3. But do you use them or someone else exclusively?
  4. Hm, current events humor= our current leadership. I won't name anyone specificly and since we all have our own opinion you can chose your own.
  5. What a cluster buster. Ask me am I surprised. I'll bet you can guess the answer. I also did what you did to provide the information to get mine deposited. For some reason I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling about it but almost always hope even when PO'd.
  6. I can't the roof myself for several years. A couple of years back I got a roll on job from a small local business that seemed to be reputable and knowledgeable. He used Hengs and he did a prep. It appeared to be a good job but it did not last more than a year. As I have looked into this I think his prep was faulty and now I am dealing with it for the last 2 years the best I can working off an 8ft step ladder reaching in as far as I can. I have been "chasing" issues sporadically and early on I found that proper prep is the vital. In my case I have used alcohol and scrubbing followed by a good rinse with clean water. I am about to have to try and deal with a new spot any day now as soon as it warms up enough. Now my problem is I can't get any alcohol because of the corvid19 situation. Anyone with actual experience have any suggestions on what I can use as an alternate? BTW I definitely learned that weather and temprature has to be right if you can't do it under cover, which I can't. I don't think the guy I dealt with was a crook but do think he was incompetent in his own way.
  7. I can't help but believe if the public applies pressure on our fearful leadership in congress and the senate they would be forced to listen. If no one ever pounds on their ears they will just do what they want. Do they still have franking privilege for their office mail? You know the bs they send us telling us how much they have done for us. I have worked for the post office as a mail handler and a letter carrier. I didn't stay more than a few years but Iearned a lot. There are management issues just like in any large organization but ultimately they do a pretty good job. Try Fedex or any other delivery service for getting a first class letter across the country for the current rate. Mangement has come up with other ways to be viable like partnering with FEDEX and Ups for last mile delivery which helps the post office and FEDEX and UPS and the customer. That doesn't happen a lot. There is absolutely no question the problem is with the quality of politicians we keep electing. There is no question that to some degree almost every one of them is on the take in one way or another. With the situation of the advance payment for the retirement it is a method of trying to kill the post office so some other entity can profit. Too bad we can't find out who is behind it. I have to say one of the main reasons I joined Escapees was the MAIL forwarding service which of course mainly uses the post office to function. I do believe that the ability to vote by mail is one factor pushing this in one segment of the political spectrum.
  8. I have read and heard some scuttlebut about some issue on funding for the post office. I am not seeing or hearing much but read the the guy with the best brain has already stated he would veto any funding assistance to maintain the viability of the post office. They are supposedly getting hit financially just like many other entities due to the corvid 19 issue. I think the post office is vital to the country and should be supported even at deficit. Is anyone else seeing or hearing anything about this? For what it is worth I called my Rep. and Senators and expressed my view to their recording of your call. I don't expect a lot since I am a Livingston resident and long time Texan so I don't think I have any real representation but maybe if enough people contacted them we might get their attention.
  9. I have seen volunteers used in closed parks just to keep and eye on the park or as security that does nothing but notify someone if something happens. I once had a request to do that at a COE park that was closed for the season. I had met to volunteer coordinator a few months earlier and they really just wanted someone on site during the closed period. I hated to turn him down but I was having a non critical medical issue and the park was too remote. Any other time I would have liked remote and almost no one else around fpr a few months.
  10. I have a large closet over the curbside wheel well. I had a problem early on with the rod coming loose and dropping every thing. I found a way to support the rod better almost in the middle and that solved the problem. This a long rod and I think the clothes would bunch in the middle and create "bounce". Less clothes probably would have helped. I also had an occaisional issue with the "shirt" closets on the back wall but it was so long ago and so seldom I don't remember what I did. For reference my rig is a 30 foot travel trailer.
  11. True. I remember when it was still used for skp mail service. Oddly i had something kick back recently because of that old zip code. When we first got our own zip it was a PIA for a while. I always enjoyed having a business insisting 77399 wasn't my zip code even if showed it to them on my drivers license. I just noticed that dewilso and I are just over 1000 members apart in SKPs . me 46429 you 56442. Are you sure you were not around when the zip change happened.
  12. With that time frame it could all change and be fine but keep in mind if the wedding is at some venues it could be postponed at the very least. That happened 3 weeks ago to my grand daughter. And of course a number of out of state family and friends couldn't risk it. I probably shouldn't have but sometimes thats what granpa's do even if they otherwise have good sense.
  13. 2 weeks ago I entered Tx at Texarkana took Hwy 82 to Wichita Falls the 287 to Amarillo and I40 to NM just east of Albq. This was before they were checking Louisiana folks and of course I was coming out of Arkansas. The Tx tourist beauru was closed but you could park there at that time. If I was going to do a Walmart I would do the one about 20 miles east of TXKNA at New Boston. There is on in Paris, Tx that is usually crowded with trucks. Then just off Hwy 82 in Sherman and Gainesville. This may not be usefull but my motto is 2 much information rather than not enough.
  14. I am near Albq. and am concerned about the 25% rule. I should be good where I am but not guaranted and if I have to vacate I don't know where I will go. Deming SKP was my back-up plan but seems that might not work. I really applaud this state for trying to flatten the curve but this part I am not so sure about. I don't know whether to check with Deming or just stick my head in the sand and hope for the best. Since this is on line the last statement was a joke to be clear.
  15. Yesterday and today $1.249 for regular unleaded at Sam's Club on Eubank in Albuquerque. Costco is less than a mile away and I expect it is the same or very close. Now if I just had somewhere to go.
  16. Surely some of this is an optical illusion. Drv Memphis Why Memphis. Your profile says Texas. Just nosey
  17. Will ultra violet light do anything to sterilize any of these items?
  18. Not easy to decide in a tough situation but it is based on the common good.
  19. I saw some near Memphis, Tn for $1.29 at several locations. I paid $1.34 at Sam.s club in Albuquerque today.
  20. I am in Albuquerque area now. I would say that the main reason is the health care system could be overwhelmed quickly if the "curve" doesn't stay low. There are areas that won't be easily accessable and staffing to maintain facilities will be very limited and worse if they start getting sick. Fire season is about to start up and that could make it a nightmare.
  21. The hysteria is supplied by the individual interpetation of the information supplied. No one has to get hysterical because someone gives you information. The media would be vilified more if they did not do reporting on it at all. I get frustrated with them at times but I would sure rather have them than not. Even Fox can put out some factual information at times especially the local reporting but I sure miss Shepard Smith on there for instance. pj is surely right. I will never understand why they don't maintain a stock all along if they can. I used to. If I had more room I would keep up a stock of very basic supplies------including Tp
  22. I just got word that my volunteer district won't be using volunteers at some locations for the time being. Like the front desk at the Ranger Station,
