The receiver is always "unplugged" whenever we're not actively using it (not physically unplugged, but it doesn't have any power to it). We mostly boondock and run the receiver from the inverter which is not left on when we're not using it, which would include when we travel. The receiver is also plugged into a power strip which we turn off when not watching TV and so we can use the inverter for other things without having to leave the receiver on. Thanks for the links...I'll take a look at them. I'm not sure this is something we can do, but perhaps we can find someone to do it for us if we decide to go this way.

Our RV has a Winegard Trav'ler for Dish. If I were to get a Hopper 3 (not the one with Sling) for the home, and wanted to take it with us when we head south for the winter, is it a simple "plug and play" like our current VIP 612 DVR is? Or is there something that has to be added in order to make it work? Also, what are the dimensions of the Hopper 3? I've seen a couple of different dimensions listed...again, just for the Hopper 3 not the Hopper 3 w/Sling. We have limited space in our RV where the receiver resides and the 612 is already a tight fit.

I'm getting a 404 error -- page not found.

We boondock almost exclusively using propane for everything -- furnace, refrigerator, stove, water heating (we have an on-demand water heater). Our propane container is 20# and we can go ~one month between refills if we're using the furnace...more time between fill ups if we're not. Your propane consumption is way too much, particularly if all you are running is a refrigerator. Now, if you are ALSO running a propane generator to operate AC, for example, then it might be a reasonable consumption. I agree with others that something isn't right and you more than likely have a leak. Personally, I wouldn't mess around with propane myself...I'd take the RV to someone qualified to work with propane.

That's true, and is what the Escapees' IT department told us when they blocked the guy's IP. Let's hope the guy is a novice and doesn't come back!

There HAS been action, just not that you can see. This person has been flagged as a spammer, but keeps coming back under a different name (so far, he's been here under Taco Time and Josh Roehl). The Escapees' IT department has been made aware of this spammer and all the information has been sent to them. They're checking on whether or not there's a way to ban the IP he's using, so, hopefully, we'll get rid of this guy soon. In the meantime, please don't report the spam (which are being sent via private message) UNLESS you receive one from a name that's different than the above two.

I completed the census back in (March?) when I first received the letter with the Census ID number on it. I haven't noticed any effort to get people to complete the census online here...certainly no one has come around, which I wouldn't expect them to do given the virus.

Ok, Josh was also flagged as a spammer. In addition, I've sent IT the reports and the profiles for both Taco Time and Josh Roehl, so hopefully, they'll be able to stop this guy permanently! This isn't controlled by the Escapees, but by the company hosting this site. As Dutch said, the Escapees' IT department is looking into it, so, hopefully, it'll be corrected soon.

Me, too. For the last 3-4 days, each time I come to these forums, I get a page that says the site is unsafe. Obviously, I can continue to the site, but it's a bit annoying.

Yes, I know it's Costco's policy. But I've heard lots of reports that, once inside, many people take their masks off. That hasn't been our experience during senior hour -- we haven't seen anyone wandering around without a mask.

I haven't had that problem. Which browser are you using? You might try using a different one. I've used Internet Explorer forever, but I've found that on some websites, it does weird things, so I've started using Edge. You might also try deleting all cookies and browsing history to see if that helps.

The only store we've been inside since early March is Costco during their senior hour. Everyone we've seen is wearing masks...I've not noticed anyone INSIDE the store without their masks. Maybe because it's senior hour? At any rate, the store during that hour has few customers and we've been able to get in and out in less than an hour.

Excel made toyhaulers. They came to the toyhauler manufacturing late, so I don't know how many they made or how many may now be available. But Excel (Peterson Industries) made an excellent RV.

You might also consider a toy hauler. The back section can be made into a bedroom/playroom for the kids.

We've boondocked at several places along the Oregon side of the river, mainly around the Rufus area. If you stay on the Oregon side, trains and Interstate noise shouldn't be a problem -- the trains are on the other side of the river and don't toot their horns...in fact, we can barely hear them...the Interstate in the area where we park is above the camping area, so Interstate noise is negligible. If you travel the Columbia River corridor, whether on the Oregon side or the Washington side, you'll likely run into wind since there are hills on either side of the river that act like a wind tunnel. The wind doesn't always blow, but does so frequently. In the direction you're traveling, if there is wind, it will more than likely be behind you; i.e., the wind blows from west to east...great for fuel mileage!

It depends on the TV. Our RV came with a 12-volt TV so we don't need to run the generator or turn on the inverter if all we're doing is watching OTA programs. However, if we want to watch programs on our satellite system, then we do need some source of A/C power...inverter, generator, or hooked up to electricity in an RV park.

Different BOFs hold get togethers in Q during the winter, usually in January. Find a BOF or two or three and find out where their get together will be located. The Escapees also hold a get together during January for a day (maybe longer?). All this is assuming that it will still be business as usual in Q this winter due to COVID.

Yes, we are aware of that, and it's one of the reasons we haven't made a final determination as to whether or not we'll head south (to Arizona). As I explained in my previous post, physical distancing won't be a problem for us, we'll order online for curbside pickup of groceries, and won't be going inside any stores, including restaurants. The only thing that concerns us, and may ultimately be the reason we don't go, is the hospital situation in Yuma. We've never had to use any medical facilities when we've been there, but stuff happens and with the ERs filled to overflowing with COVID patients, a heart attack, an auto accident, or other situation where one of us would have to go to the hospital could be deadly over and above the medical condition that brought us there.

That's why we wash our hands with non-antibacterial soap and save the hand sanitizer only for those times we don't have access to water.

Although we haven't made a final decision yet, and won't until probably sometime in October, we're leaning toward heading south for the winter as we usually do. We normally stay at one of the LTVAs (not in Q), so physical distancing isn't a problem, and we can order groceries for pick up just like we're doing now. The biggest hurdle is laundry, but the laundromat we go to also has a wash and fold service, so we would use that instead of being inside for an hour or more surrounded by people. A lot of this will depend on what is open. LTVA's? Laundromats? Dumps?
