  1. Windows in an RV, just like in a stix and brix only more so, are the thermal weak point. Those pictures above show a fair number of windows. However, if the a/c is decent sized you might be able to keep it tolerable. We spent a couple of weeks in Texas triple digits and our RV stayed tolerable (80-85 vs 105-110) but I am not sure I would want to face more of it at a time.
  2. Only way I know of to get lime out from the inside out would be white vinegar and because it is considered an industrial cleaner you can get it in gallons just like the pink RV antifreeze. So, you could pretend to winterize but use vinegar. And just like the pink stuff you will need to flush the lines thoroughly to get rid of the taste. Having said that, if the faucet is a standard vanity faucet with 4" o.c. fittings it might be time to visit Lowes or HD, or Walmart even and get a new faucet. Presuming the plastic lines are PEX or similar in a standard size (3/8" or 1/2") you can cut back the pipe and with some new bits of pipe use Sharkbite fittings, which require no special tools and can be found at Lowes or HD or just about any plumbing supply, and then replace it. I did this to ours since the original faucet was so low to the sink you could hardly get your hands under it. I replaced with a higher rise faucet I found at Lowes.
  3. Budget friendly would be IKEA if you have one near you or shop online. It is not too heavy and they have some that are non-stick. It is not the thing if you are a gourmet cook however. My daughter has a set of Calphalon stainless steel cookware that is induction ready. It is more expensive and heavier. I wouldn't mind it as the price is not all that high but it is more pieces than we have room to store.
  4. The sign just before the parking area where you can leave an RV or trailer reads "Road Not Recommended for Trailer over 20 Feet and RVS over 24 Feet". I took a picture of it. What it doesn't tell you is the amount a tow truck will charge and the amount of money you will be charged should you end up in trouble on that road or blocking it. They told us at the Visitor Center and it is enough to stand your hair on end. I'm used to Colorado mountain driving but those hairpin turns going in made me a little uncomfortable.
  5. I believe this link should provide you all the info you need. https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/big-bend-covid-19-status-updates.htm
  6. That's a beautiful area of the state. I wish you well.
  7. No, I periodically add some bleach. Note: DO NOT use the splash-less bleach. If the gauge on our tank says 1/3 full, I use 1/2 cups bleach. However, if we have filled the tank with chlorinated water from a city source or RV park that chlorinates water from a well I am not too concerned as algae needs light and the tank is in the dark.
  8. We always keep some water in the fresh tank. For example, the park we are in currently just had a water emergency and had to shut down water for a while. At least we had water to flush the toilet. And when traveling, it is nice to have water for flushing the toilet as road side stops and gas stations don't often have cleanest of facilities.
  9. Where have we traveled? The experience is somewhat different between the DW and myself. As youngsters both of our families liked to travel. Mine a little more than Jan’s. My Dad came from a family of 12 children and as such we had relatives spread quite literally from coast to coast and north to south, and we visited them all. As a child/young adult I had visited all but Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Alaska, and Hawaii. Then I joined the Navy. Since I was married before joining the DW got to go along for a lot it. I was first overseas in the Philippines where we were able to explore a lot of, but nearly all, Luzon Island. While there I rode a number of ships out of Subic Bay and aside from being a member of the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club was able to visit Singapore, Bangkok, both the northern and southern ends of Taiwan and Sasebo Japan and surrounds including Hiroshima. The DW added a short visit to Hawaii on her way to the Philippines and we both added a brief visit to Alaska on our way back to the States. The next overseas, twice actually, was to Rota, Spain where we spent a total of 7 years. We were able to explore there as far north as Madrid, southern Portugal, Gibraltar. We also, thanks to medical appointments, were able to explore around the Frankfurt region of Germany. The wife made it to Morocco for a weekend trip as well. Again, my duties both aboard ship and otherwise took me to Barcelona, Spain, Toulon, France, various places in Italy (Naples, Pompeii, Bari, Bridisi, Venice), Sicily, and Israel. The next overseas was to Scotland where we were able to visit all of Scotland proper, the Isle of Skye, England as far south as London and parts of Wales. It was a trip several years later where we finally made it to Ireland. In the States we lived in Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, California, and Texas.
  10. I have one, two actually. After my second heart incident I could never get off oxygen at elevation. I found that by using the SPO2 I found that below 3500' or so I could quit using the portable oxygen concentrator. I have one that you use on a finger, and the other is part of my smart watch. I find the two are pretty close to each other. The smart watch also does blood pressure, which is again close to a cuff type. As we get older the more we monitor our physical selves the better off we are.
  11. I understood your post. I would not want that tiny thing either, however, I wouldn't mind one of those Travelwaves.
  12. I don't have a CCW but I have transported handguns and long guns for years in my 5th wheel. When I am in transit they are unloaded and have trigger locks on them and they are in the fiver. I have never been concerned that it would be an issue in as much as I am covered under 18 U.S. Code § 926A.Interstate transportation of firearms. Under that, it is pretty simple since the weapons are in the 5th wheel and the truck is where I am. Once parked in a campground the "Castle Law" which is in pretty much every state takes over.
  13. If that kind of thing interests you might as well get something you can actually live in like the Travelwave made in Marysville, KS.
  14. I recently had a prescription filled at Walgreens as I needed it right away and it was not going to be long term. The tech at the window asked me for my zip code and I gave him or current one. He paused and then said that is not what I have on file. I told him we had moved so he asked me a couple other questions to make sure I was me (why he did not ask for photo ID is beyond me) and then he changed it in their system. Perhaps, you can get it changed in person?
  15. Direct from the South Dakota government. and this from the Argus Leader.
  16. Yup- that's what I get for trying touch type. 🤣
  17. If you determine you need to rough up the surface perhaps sandblasting would be faster and easier. Lot's of tool rental places have them if you don't already.
  18. Use the 6+4 ZIP code format, but use the one for your own Livingston address. Mine is 77399-1019, for example.
  19. I read this a little different perhaps, but to clarify for myself and others, the Gold CC card allows you to purchase weapons without any further background checks over that needed to get the card. If he federal government approved this program for SD I can see no reason why they wouldn't for other states if the stated legislatures would pass similar bills.
  20. Put your pics on an external site, like Dropbox or Google Photos and then embed them here and it will not matter what size the pics are. In fact, Google Photos by default optimizes them for space saving.
  21. Cookies are a good start, and not just those associated with the forums. I use CCleaner to clean out all the bits and pieces periodically including crud in the registry. However, it might also be worth looking at another browser. He said he uses Firefox which according to ZDnet siting various sources Firefox has only 3.6% of the browser market compared to 49.3% for Chrome and 31.6% for Safari.
  22. The wheel liners of my F350 are a plastic material and they do not shatter from road debris. I think this is an ingenious idea and look forward to seeing how it all comes together.
  23. I think it does. Like airbags and shocks smooth the ride on a truck so does the hitch and it is very similar to that description as it does have an airbag and a shock.
  24. We too are in Texas and I had considered the RGV for part of the winter. Not now. After seeing that Hidalgo County has some of the highest deaths and death rate to COVID in the US we will be avoiding that area. Nueces County (Corpus Christi) is also far higher in both categories than where we are just north of Austin. So now we are thinking that this winter at least we may just stay in place. If COVID numbers are going to enter into planning then heritage.org has an interactive map with up to date numbers which can be found here.
