  1. Are you sure that your current plan covers you in Texas at all? I just entered the Livingston zip into the Anthem website and it said that coverage was not offered in that area. I think perhaps that is the reason your current doctor will not/can not see you, the plan you have is for California. There is a Blue Cross of Texas, however.
  2. The question resolved itself in a manner of speaking. The park we are in is requiring that hoses be disconnected from the taps whether they are heated hoses or not. Problem solved.
  3. I tried searching for this topic and came up with lots of results not exactly this. So, are they worth it or not? They are a lot of money for something that may or may not be needed, but since this winter is getting bizarre in terms of temps for where we are, I am wondering what others think. Thanks!!
  4. The DW and I grew up in Roeland Park a KC suburb in Johnson County.
  5. We grew up in Kansas pretty much avoided it except for visits because of the humidity. This area of Texas is not all that humid with some days worse than others. We lived in Colorado Springs and while it would get cold the sun always made it seem warmer. Alamosa is considered the cold spot of Colorado and the South Park around Lake Antero a close second. All this talk of weather has put a jinx on things. It is supposed to be in the teens at night this coming weekend now. Guess it is time to fill the propane tanks and the fresh water tank.
  6. I hope this will not be considered politics, but the USA completely cut the cord with mother England unlike Australia which I think leads to a completely different mindset. I could be wrong though.
  7. And not just surgical teams. Last September I (well, the DW) called 911 as I could not breath. The EMTs when they arrived as saw the symptoms added layers of protective gear and in the ER the nurse that handling tests, etc. was in full "bubble" gear. Once COVID was ruled out everyone relaxed. It turned out to be pneumonia, a type not covered by the shots which I have had. If this was discussed here earlier I apologize but it seems that the first well documented instances of "social distancing" and other measures to help prevent the spread of plague occurred some 400+ years ago. This BBC article is an interesting read.
  8. I am soooo glad I do not live in the Great White North or for that matter in Colorado any longer. Woke up this morning to 44F with fog but is supposed to be in the 70s for the next couple of days and then by the weekend we will see some nighttime lows in the lower 30s. All in all nothing to complain about here in the Hill Country of Texas.
  9. Apparently I missed the non sequitur of doctors scrubbing for surgery and backing into a room to us everyday folk washing our hands. Of course I wash my hands, that might have been one of the first things my momma taught me as a child, but I certainly do not wash them like I am prepping for surgery, nor do I need to at least according to the CDC.
  10. Yeah, well, quirky stats not withstanding, I will root for the Chiefs because a) I grew up in KC and b) I love seeing Brady get spanked.
  11. More widely used where? Did doctors quit doing this?
  12. Thanks, Jack. Like I said, someone better at searching. Text is not available yet so it will be interesting to see what changes have been made from the draft on Rep. Crow's website.
  13. I have been looking at this and some things come to mind. First, I can find no indication that this bill has actually been introduced yet. Second, in reading the bill, which was linked here is not going to fix what he is calling a loophole. He wants to close the sale of long guns to a person not a resident of the state they are purchasing one in. That is actually already pretty limited. In Colorado you can only purchase a long gun if you live in Colorado or one of the states immediately bordering Colorado. As I read it, this would go away. However, under 18 U.S. Code a long gun, by definition does not include SHOTGUNS and this is what the Columbine lady purchased. A shotgun seems to enjoy some exemptive status. Perhaps folks with better legal research skills than me can come up with more.
  14. Sorry you had a bad experience, Ken, but we have the 320 without a sprayer and it swirls the water around the bowl very well even using the onboard water pump. I would never go back to a Thetford. We're very satisfied with the Dometic but clearly other folks mileage may vary.
  15. We prefer a heated mattress pad. Heats as fast as a blanket but puts heat between you and the cold mattress and since heat rises it will be trapped above in your bedding. MY two cents.
  16. No, as far as has been explained to me, there is no reason to test unless you are a) symptomatic, b) have been exposed, or c) need to be tested for other reasons, for example, the DW just had cataract surgery and was required to take a COVID test prior to the surgery. Having said that, it seems that there are rumblings that airlines are going to require it at least for international flights.
  17. This is very true. Our first few trips were either close to home or near a Walmart/Target where we could easily acquire things. Now when we reach a "gee I wish I had this" moment, we first decide if we can store it (weight/space) and if not, what do we want to get rid of if it is that high of a priority.
  18. That's an interesting take and quite possibly correct. I have never run into a problem with Sirius/XM being obstructed overhead (TV yes) but without seeing what else is around it could make sense. EDIT: Of course, if LarryN would hunt down the RV owner and just ask the mystery would he solved. 🤣
  19. ^^^^^^ This is a very thorough list on what I would consider to be the must haves. From here you can move on to the nice to haves and those will depend upon how much storage you have available. For us those nice to haves include appliance for the kitchen (induction cooktop, electric skillet, toaster, coffee pot), dishes (I recommend Correlle), silverware and utensils (keep these at a minimum until you find out how much space you really have). For the bath at least one extra set of towels For the bedroom at least one extra set of bedding and no matter where you intend to travel at least one blanket. Cleaning supplies (try to find ones that can do double duty in the kitchen and bath). Things in an RV are subject to a lot of motion when going down the road and one lesson we learned was to not fall into the habit of thinking "well, this is for the RV" and buying something inexpensive. The inexpensive can end up costing more because you'll have to replace it. After that clothing dependent on where you are going to travel and again keep in mind space and weight, you'll find you don't need as much as you think you might.
  20. That's an interesting read but one still needs an end point connected to the internet. It is using the 70-CM band which is very short ranged which means there is a whole lot of the country where there is nothing, much like cell service, maybe even worse since cell towers have elevation to extend the distance and unless you can find a repeater that will pass through the NPR signal.
  21. Nice tip! I generally prefer Google Earth but that right click feature is not there.
  22. I have a B&W Turnover ball hitch. I could tow a gooseneck, however, the manufacturer of my RV was very clear that the frame was not designed for gooseneck towing therefore I have the Companion hitch. With that in mind I would check with the manufacturer before making your decision.
  23. We signed up for the T-Mobile data plan, 100gb/mo for $50. So far we are very pleased.
