  1. You can also convert your reefer to a 12v high efficiency compressor system at this time. JC Refrigeration or something like that builds them or replacement absorb... ambsorb...assorb... ammonia boiler systems.
  2. Cotreker's list makes my new chrome plated stainless steel front hub caps look like not that bigga deal.
  3. The furry little fella in Rod's story ^ needs a load of #8
  4. Are you still planning a relocate to the truck? I'll bet there is tech available to make controlling it from the trailer a wireless affair.
  5. Mr. Musk if you are reading this: 1. Build an aerodynamic travel trailer (shaped more like a SpaceX rocket than that door stop of a pickup truck) with a flat floor filled with a battery pack. Let the trailer extend its own range. Shape the front of the trailer with an optional fairing kit that is Tesla car model specific that closes the gap trailer to car to minimum required for swing and dip clearance. Have an extend feature on the trailer's hitch to roll it back away from the car when stopped for trunk access, step over hitch vs walk all the way around etc. 2. Add a connector trailer to car through a great big bejeesus plug with cooling lines and electical pressure wires and data wires to your Tesla towing package to connect the trailer and car. 3. Roof the trailer with Tesla solar panels. 4. Have an option to add a traction motor to the trailer for dynamic (regenerative) braking and so it can help itself in sand and snow etc and not be such an anchor in adverse conditions. etc.
  6. Watch out RV! Andy and CanAm RV are much maligned on the interweb. You too could take a tomato or two for daring to suggest 50 years of installing hitch systems on a zillion different types of tow vehicles might be useful knowledge. They are not in the video business but they put up some old footage of testing various tow vehicles through a slalom course and an emergency watch out swerve lane change towing an Airstream and a cracker box trailer. Which vehicles are most controlled and composed is quite interesting. Of course a lot of this is moot nowadays because it is difficult to buy a "car" that can be geared properly for towing. Except for a certain type which has traction motors like a locomotive 🤣
  7. Remora Carbon Capture system An interesting technology which captures certain emissions on board a commercial truck.
  8. Vladimir - SiO2 aka "lead crystal" battery chemistry is very cold tolerant. Self heating LiFeO4 "lithium" batteries are becoming more available in the small/portable "RV" type use world. The battery contains a heater which the BMS turns on to warm the cells to a safe charging temp when it detects charging current coming in and low cell temp at the same time. So the system uses the charging current to pre heat the cells. Probably how "lithium" cells in a battery vehicle are protected as well I would guess. Of course the internet has wigged out about "how much of my battery power the heating uses..." The battery does not sit there using it's own stored energy to heat itself when not charging because "lithium" batteries do not need to be warm to supply current - to a certain point. SiO2 batteries are worth a look if you are after batteries that don't need to be "managed" or worried about. They are pretty dummy proof which is why they appeal to yours truly 🙂
  9. I had a HDTV reciever antenna dealie on toppa my new camper I had. I was parked just south of the Middle of Nowhere at 8500ft asl in NM and I thought I'd give it a try. 52 channels! Half were spanish (me no habla very well but I will watch) and the other 80% had nuthin worth watching.
  10. This truth is known to DC electric people: Amp hours is amp hours. Once they are gone, you gotta put 'em back.
  11. I have a trailer for my base camp that is "4 Canada seasons" - bottom of tank enclosure is enclosed with spray foam - But it has the crummy range hood sensors (note to manufacturer: WHY??) Anyhoo I was thinking about installing an inline meter on the water line. All mechanicals except the tanks are inside the living space. Then I could forget to jot down the starting meter reading to subtract the added volume from the tank volume so I still wouldn't know how much water is left...
  12. At summer base camp I use a diesel exhaust fluid tote to transfer water - I use a RV water pump etc.
  13. Yep that is the video Glenn. Before shouting it down everyone remember JCB already builds and markets a line of battery electric construction machines. They don't play the one team or the other game.
  14. Hi gypsy - You have "reported" the incident, on line, with your picture....
  15. Vladimir and Glenn - the hydrogen fueled piston engine video was a visit at JCB in England, in the u tube channel Harry’s Garage. The chairman of the board of JCB explains the advantages of pursuing piston engine tech for large mobile machines vs battery electric. As far as hydrogen, in Canada “green” hydrogen only describes hydrogen from renewable electricity. The other hydrogen cracked from gas is “blue” or something or other. It’s kind of like the electricity used to charge battery cars - it’s green except when it is not.
  16. bookface weirded me out - I think I was on it for 2 days
  17. Here is a video of the Tesla Model 3 and Airstream that belongs to the owner of Can-Am RV Tesla Model 3 towing Airstream Also - there are some nuggets of tow setup knowledge not restricted to Teslas and Airstreams.
  18. RV - the issue with high output straight line acceleration everyone talks about incessantly is that the human being becomes conditioned to it quite quickly. As I've posted before I had a chance to ride a truly fast electric motorcycle. Whirrrr .... whir....whirrrrr...whir...whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....whirrr.... yawn.... It was a very capable appliance. Made even me look like a fast rider. But that is the thing with electric motivation - it is so seamless it is utterly boring after the first couple or three woo hoo twist of the blender control.
  19. Are they looking for a turn key and go trailer? Or are they open and have the time to do a build? The commercial truck body company Total Composites has branched into DIY expedition and slide in truck camper bodies, are now doing pre assembly of their body kits, and just lately have designed a trailer version. They have some dealers in the USA as well. These bodies are kind of the opposite of the swoops and swirls waferboard and staples RV ...
  20. Kenworth taught us the tank with the sensor is a safer way to check (see through) and add coolant if necessary vs opening the radiator cap itself. On a hot engine especially you aren't crawling up off the ground to stick your face above a rad cap. You check level by looking and replenish standing on the ground. Also radiators don't have the big top tank any more due to the underhood "cooling package" space being used for larger cores packaged in a lower nose.
  21. My little phart KW has Legacy Silver seats, with very low hours, installed by a previous owner. Like most truck seats all the interconnecting moving parts and pins have clearance and slop in them. The flopping side to side is most annoying. What if someone like the famous inventor phoenix2013 invented a seat base with heim joints and HMVWhatchamacallit plastic in the moving joints so there was ever only .005" clearance, then added tunable damping like a desert racing truck or 2 of my motorcycles have Oh, also on a class 8 making sure your cab air ride dampers are not full of air instead of oil helps with ride quality.
  22. I'm with Brad & Jocelyn - some sensor somewheres
