  1. For 350/3500 trucks and down, best towing performance is achieved by taking the MAX tow rating and multiply it by decimal 5 (.5).
  2. I agree with Phoenix the trailer is ahead. There are some boxes sitting back of sleeper tight to the trailer, and the rear of the truck looks very tight to the trailer. My guess, for 500 points and a chance to advance to the next round, is the truck hit a flat deck type vehicle from behind in a swing to the left while standing on the binders maneuver. There is a lot of structural damage I’ve been wrong at least twice before
  3. As a motorcycle rider I can absolutely agree driving without due care and attention is a major issue. In addition here in Canada we seem to be a couple or three generations into drivers who don’t seem to have good comprehension of the basic “rules of the road” and seem to expect a sign or signal to tell them what to do.
  4. Pete if you stop by your KW dealer with trade goods like fresh donuts for the service staff they may be able to pdf you the wiring diagram for your truck from the vin. I’m not sure if it is directly accessible by the customer.
  5. Last time I stopped at “my” Verizon store when flying south there was 7 of us including the staff in the store and our ages musta added up to 573 years 🤣
  6. You just wait until someone falls asleep at the controls of a 600hp ag tractor pulling a 70ft seeding machine while using GPS / self steering and ends up on the freeway and two Teslas run into it one from each direction… Anyone remember when ABS was going to surely kill us all?
  7. I’m with this opinion ^ . It can be quite a bit of work to adapt a portable generator to an enclosed vehicle mount. Controls, cooling air, fuel, noise, protecting the generator from vibration from the truck frame during travel, water… If your Onan is not repairable a call to a RV wrecker or two might turn up a low hour replacement.

    Remove ET hitch

A rule of thumb: if you look at the 5th wheel you see the mounting pins to the bolsters that the plate rocks back and forth on. If nothing on the truck sticks up above that plane anywhere below where the trailer swings it is good on normal roads and streets. Make sure any frame rail you have possibly added will swing properly under the "commercial" trailer you are going to pull so tangling and mangling doesn't occur. This can be checked with the tape measure - compare the pin of trailer to anything the frame can hit - usually the landing gear braces and gussets. Then compare the measurement to the truck 5th wheel pin connection back on the angle to the part of frame or mudflaps that is farthest from the pin and farthest outboard. You want a couple or 4 inches of room.
  9. yes it was. I had to wait for parts from my home KW dealer - 45 seconds while they walked back and brought them to me at the counter 😁. One of my granddotters is going to learn how to do this repair with me. If she can fit it in her schedule 🤣.
  10. Derek - what’s the word on the street for how EV’s will eventually be charged road tax as their numbers take over the world? In Canada right now a transport truck covering 120,000 miles annually is paying at least $30,000.00 annually in fuel tax and another approx $7000.00 in federal goods and services tax on that amount of fuel. Tracking of commercial trucks by government exists to apply a distance tax - perhaps citizens will accept that on private EV’s? Otherwise how do you separate “off highway” electricity at home vs what is being used to power road vehicles?
  11. Alberta is around $US 3.90 / US gallon for 87 gasohol at the retail pump.
  12. I did the trans oil change. Yes the dribble of oil that runs out when the trans is full capilliarieied over just enough on the trans case so it could miss the pan I put on the floor and make a mess. Good for another 5yrs / 500,000miles which is the drain interval per Eaton. Report on daily driver bobtail (single towing🤣) economy over 450km/280miles of general run around with headwind, hilly highway, loose thick dry gravel road - 19 litre/100km = 14.9 mile/ Imp gallon = 12.4 mile/ US gallon. My truck bobtail weighs 6760kg or 14,815lbs. During the last daily driver trip I thought my ears heard a bit of a hum..., not wind noise, not tires... Pulled it in the shop nearby and jacked up steer axle - yep I have a ruff front wheel bearing.
  13. A walk around and some information on a very rare truck built in Port Alberni, BC Video link to you toob

    Canadian Rockies

I would travel Hwy 3 at that time year if you aren't in a Big Hurry. Right from MB to Hope BC
  15. I’m driving mine around using it for daily driver duties - doing a “daily driver” fuel economy test. Transmission oil change day today. Then on to some other items on a list.
  16. The Aluma aluminum plank deck on my won ton is quite a thing. It’s not right for Heavy Haul RV work.
  17. Read about Keystone XL It was not limited to export from USA gulf ports only nor was it limited to oil sands oil only either. It runs from pipeline terminal to terminal so could have transported various types of products as needed.
  18. Ya that's what we would call it in the world of trucking ... I'm still learning all the RV terms 🤣
  19. After cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada, President Biden asks OPEC to increase production... BNN Bloomberg article
