  1. Where did I infer it couldn’t be done? A power grid was built the first time why couldn’t it be built 1.6 times over again?
  2. I did a rough calculation a while ago. I used figures from the US government energy agency. Based on gasoline motor fuel used per day x 30% efficiency for gas engines and converting that quantity to electric kilowatts equivalent at 100% efficiency to favor electricity, the electricity generation capacity of the continental USA would have to approximately double to replace 30% of the gasoline used per day. In addition the generation in the USA is around 67% fossil fuelled now so that 67% needs to also be replaced and the new doubling cannot be fossil fuelled. In summary: replace 67% of the grid with zero emission sources then double the grid. That covers the gasoline fleet. Then there is the diesel fleet: trucks, busses, railways, coastal and inland marine, aircraft, and then military.
  3. Here is a 25 ton battery electric truck with 400 km range (“depending”) coming from Mercedes-Benz, the eActros. Link to a video Here is a link to a video discussing “zero emission” heavy duty piston engine technology which touches on the challenges with powering heavy duty mobile power applications with batteries. Link to a video Neither of the above can be bought this Monday. I’m not sure a new won ton diesel piston pickup can be bought on Monday either 🤣🤣
  4. That slide hammer affair the person knocked the valve stem out with is kinda like the bead breaker we used on tube type split rim tires. Changed and repaired a few hundred of them at our roadside garage. A bead axe takes a certain skill around polished aluminum wheels.
  5. Who knows what a Heidenau K60 tire is? Who knows what changing one over at 06:00 hrs for a small group ride meet up on a Saturday day off work with 2 6in tire irons because you were too busy at work so you paid a shop who mounted it backwards on the wheel?
  6. Hi Vern - around here best price for heavy truck batteries Grp 31 is at heavy truck dealers.
  7. If you use u tube there are videos from CanAm RV and the Truck King channel towing an Airstream with a Tesla Model 3

  9. yes it would the old trailer dates from The Time Before 800hp $100grand Pickup Trucks
  10. I bob tailed to the truck and RV warsh and warshed under the hood and exterior. Parked him in the heated shop over night. Got going in good time this a.m. before the shop owner needed the bay to change fuel filters, coolant filter, do a careful and complete greasing of the fittings, and clean the windows. 3 things remained true to the Laws of Maintenance: The grease gun was empty when I picked it up. Dirt knocked out of a U-joint does not accelerate directly towards the center of the earth. It will bend in trajectory slightly to get on the safety glasses and in the one ear. I use a motorsports foot valve siphon hose to fill the fuel filters out of a tank on the truck. Yes, it is made out of chitty plastic tubing. Which invokes the Universal Law: Any fluid transferred inside plastic tubing/garden hose WILL end up on one shoe and sometimes a pant leg ...
  11. Just for information: my little Kenworth has a 160” WB so 8” shorter than my F350 Fordor or the previous Dodge. The visibility forward is much better and turn radius is smaller. But - it is a truck not a pickup power to weight ratio wise. It does not have the zoom factor a pickup has. But you hitch up a 9 to 15 ton trailer and it’s like, “whatever”.
  12. They are the tubeless version of the old 10:00-20 tire. 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 are the most common tire ever in western Canada, eh? Metric “low pro’s” can be a bit of a chase to find.
  13. I plan to cross on or about November 8. As I can make it snow on I15 by traveling by RV any month of the year I would like to extend my apologies in advance for the chit weather we are about to receive.
  14. Howdy Chad congratulations on your retirement. Maybe a burger and a beer this winter?
  15. are 11R22.5 tires available?
  16. ahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaa
  17. rick - my dooley runs off the shelf stainless steel fenders in the wheel openings of the body. But I travel some grabbel roads on occasion. Keeps the stones, salty slush, and blow outs somewhat contained.
  18. Ya it is quite a thing - especially when you are trying to float shift on the jake to impress them pretty girls
  19. Why is carbon dioxide called “carbon” all the time? Why don’t CO2 emission tonnes actually weigh 1000kg? Or do they? Where can a person look at predictions made by scientists and reputable organizations from 10, 20, 30 years ago and check on their accuracy? Why are these predictions dismissed when they prove to be wrong? Why do people in agreement with the “crisis, emergency, alarmist” views often revert to name calling and putting down people that question the information? Or fire them or cut their funding? Why do certain media outlets now or plan to censor information that questions the “settled” science or shows different information. What science is ever “settled”? Aren’t discoveries still being made in all the sciences? But at the whole planet 40 years in the future climate level we have that down pat?
  20. An ammonia solution is corrosive? Yer kiddin.
  21. I'm inclined to use products and methods designed for the finish and materials they are being used on - gel coat, paint, painted metal vs fiberglass or plastic etc etc
