  1. I wouldn't say it was an "ad". It mentions one of the drivers is CEO of a charging company. It also mentions: IN MEMORY OF MARY ANN The trip was dubbed Mary Ann’s Electric Drive 2.0 in honour of Soicher’s late wife who died of cancer in 2018. Mary Ann and Soicher had made plans to visit Newfoundland together and a year after her passing, he went in her memory. To continue her legacy, both trips fundraised money for Parkinson’s research and functional neurosurgery, a cause dear to her after suffering a life-threatening ruptured brain aneurysm two decades earlier. Soicher said she would be proud of him for making these trips in his EV.
  2. Yes the low coolant sensor is happy to do that on the Modern Diesel Truck. Running it a bit over full (it will self adjust out the overflow) will allow you to show off by patching out leaving a campsite without embarrassing codes and derates đŸ€Ł
  3. worknrvr showed me a air conditioning o ring assortment that has several sizes of o rings that fit the push to connect fittings.
  4. I would think a 2006 Volvo cruise control is controlled by a pressure sensor in the foundation brake circuit somewheres. The foot valve might be hanging up a bit keeping some air psi on the foundation brake circuit. Do you see any psi on the brake application pressure guage, even 1/2 a needle? It could be a sensor or stiction in the foot valve. Note: they can write several volumes about what I don't know about Volvo trucks. đŸ€Ł
  5. Possibly until you’ve had a go at a Mack Triplex đŸŽ”you aint seen nothin yetđŸŽ¶
  6. An electric vehicle has electric traction motors like a locomotive - so can pull on trailers quite nicely. Very high torque at very low vehicle speed.
  7. Me learning too Vern. As JohnT mentioned the BMS in that cottage system should not allow charge through to the battery cells if they are below a safe temperature. LowOnCash ^ explains why Li batts can store without top ups
  8. The self heating Li batteries use incoming charge current to heat the battery cells before sending charge to the cells. I don’t believe they heat unless receiving external charging power.
  9. Renogy is offering a self heating lithium battery Clicky The battery will not wreck itself by accepting charge at below minimum battery temperature. It has other features I won't pretend to be able to explain.
  10. Technically “across Canada” from the furthest east road point to the furthest west point would be Cape Spear NL to the Yukon/Alaska border on Hwy 1. 8,573km (5,300miles) The south runs along the Trans Canada route are around 7,000km The Tesla guys put a video on u toob - it was hood fun. "Hood fun" ? stupid spell check Good fun.
  11. CTV Vancouver link St. John’s NL to Victoria BC Drivers did not need treatment for range anxiety. 87% done on non fossil generated amps Not a Tesla more news at 11
  12. I keep old motorsickle inner tubes and cut them up to make flaps to insulate nearby surfaces when working around batteries that are in stupid locations. Strips of tube make good tur...tourni...torna... "turn a keys" for sino plastic hoses and cords that won't coil up.
  13. I had a bright idea I would put a 12V air conditioner on toppa my vintage camper project. Then I saw what they cost. That's a lot of perfectly good motorcycle money. Back to Glenn's thread now.
  14. A nice bit of equipment to consider is a battery to battery charging unit also called a DC-DC charger. An explanation can be watched here: Install of a battery to battery charger
  15. TP has to pass the FPT* *Finger Puncture Test
  16. If you look at the dark camper with the gear container on the roof... And then go to "Everlanders" channel on u tube to see a DIY camper body built in a home garage... Oh and check out the technology on board their truck - auto retracting solar panels, yuge Li battery set, all electric living spaces... Anyways back to Tesla - I has a question: That front body line at the end of the "hood" - does that meet pedestrian collision standards?
  17. I don’t use private camps much at all but I have pre warned a couple about my rag tag outfits that “look ok going by at 60mph”. They asked for a picture and the response was “cool truck” etc The rusty hub cap was totally ignored.
  18. I test rode 2 Zero electric motorcycles at a dealer demo. One was a rapid upright nekked type and the other was an enduro style on/off road police bike, about the size of a Suzuki DR400. Very popular with law enforcement in parks and event venues - ride up and down stairs, walkways etc. Anyhoo I had my black gear on. I'm like, "I wonder if the blue and reds are connected?" Well now don't they work a treat in congested traffic to get folks to move over a bit so you can split through. Some drivers even put their phones down. An electric road bike does not fit my needs due to short range. I could see owning an on/off roader.
  19. Alberta's "rat free" policy and progam
  20. Yes storage of solar and wind energy is a challenge.
  21. Link to a story Some motorcycle oem's thinking on making electric motorcycle batteries swappable across makes. This would work for box shaped RV's - forklift at the battery swap station depot, slide the battery out of the basement tray, slide in the charged one.
