  1. Blowing fuses means it is a DC circuit where the AC circuits would be tripping Breakers. I do not not how that chassis is wired but I have experienced to Dodge wiring problem. The first was mid 70's van and the second was 1995 Caravan. Both problems was wired passing through a grommet. Is it always the same fuse blowing? Do you when it is blowing? What size fuse is blowing?
  2. It makes the big news when 8 weeks ago was the big one. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/power-scare-shows-texas-grid-still-at-risk-after-blackouts/ar-BB1fCgpj Green energy is only good for what is happening. The success of any generation is the stored fuel on site, Nuclear Energy is fuel rods, Coal is the coal Pipe, Oil stores in large tanks, Gas in the pipe line or caverns, water behind the dam. Batteries charged & etc Sun and wind are predicable in that will happen sometime. Clay
  3. I don't know if you have watched any of the youtude video's? There a number of then in the region. This video will show you desending in to Silvertown at 11 minutes 30 seconds And Delores to Telluride Just search and watch where you want to drive. If you freeze from scary stop. Someone will get you down to level ground. Been there don't that Clay
  4. Durango - Delores- Ouray is easier in many ways. The worse of road has a little shoulder and a white line marking the edge of the road, Also being north bound, your are next to the cliff not the canyon below. I think it is a prettier route also. While your in the area Mesa Verde is a great place spend a day and you will find camping in the park, and several near Cortez. See your from Asheville, My experience the Colorado Roads have better sight lines and wider corners. watch your speed as some times you may think driving the flat land but can be going down hill. Clay
  5. I agree not enough truck especially if your carrying a full tank of water or waste. And then a half tank of water is bad in sloshing back and forth. Go to the scales to verify. Actual weight when you parked with the jacks down is not a concern Regarding durangodon statement. If you follow the 75 mph person long enough you will find a RV at the side of the road as the 65 MPH rated tires give up with consequences. Clay
  6. I bought a standard 16 foot extension ladder. Many of the telescoping ladder are not solid me or getting heavy. The 16 foot extension ladder is light weight (important for me) and just fits in the basement. I don't consider this ladder a daily user as I have items stored on top of the ladder. Clay
  7. I use the paid program but not familiar with the cell phone app. I only use my computer which allows to many searches by filters. It really helps when you have a big unit or looking for site after many campgrounds close for the winter. Allstays is not a rating system so read the campground reviews. 8. I talked to a relative in Tucson last night and he has had to show his card twice. Its seems if you had been vaccinated ,a certain donut shop ( i won't mention the name but some letters areKxxxxy Kxxxx) will give a free donut. Clay
  9. If I understand the present Covid-19 Vaccine is expected to be effective for 9-12 months but who knows. If I'm going have to carry my medicinal infor I want it chipped on to my voter ID. Clay
  10. I was parked next to a flute player for a number of years. This year for several reasons we didn't go to Texas. I missed her variety of music. Will piano stay in tune in travel and changing temperature. A good question Clay
  11. I agree and the serious accidents can be put to human error 3-Mile Island I don't recall the problem to well but the plant was built too many eggs in one basket. That is the main control cables and the back-up control cables were in the same raceway. It was all about money but MANY Nuke plants were shut-down until they could show they didn't have a problem or problem correct Chernobyl was a cookie cutter design of obsolete technology. Then the plant was told to do something it wasn't designed to do but the Engineers say disable the alarm and continue dropping load, this happened repeatably until and you know the rest of the story. Fukishima build on a earth quake zone. Man designed and build the plants Man run the plants and man did what they were instructed to do Man ok'ed the siting and plans. We need small Nukes and fossil fuels to control the critical loads. And then we need some Buck Rogers age of Technology. The electric utilities have always had method to save the plant (that is matching system load to generation(s) as to maintain frequency at 60 hertz and if frequency drops, action starts dropping breakers should open and cut load). Early days the substation and the plant control room were all the together. the operator knew what substation breakers to open. As technology advanced allowing protective devices remote from the plant monitor to open breakers as needed in the advent a serious drop in frequency. Technology advances more where utilities would control some load remotely before the frequency dropped and would return to normal automatically. This was worked out with the consumer and a special rate applied. Some large customers preferred to volunteer removing their load. Then came the subsidized renewables. 36 years ago I heated my hot water with solar technology. For every effect there a result. If you didn't have storage you had to use electric to heat the water, so you wanted a proper amount of storage. The disadvantage turned out to be my teen-age daughters liked long hot showers thus larger water bills. Now we have the renewable solar, wind, water & such (many mandated) putting electric on the grid. Because you can't predict what the bulk of the renewable generation will provide for output, those electric sources is not called firm generation. Here is where Buck Rogers is needed. Non critical loads like Dish washers, Laundry facilities, battery chargers, pool heaters, freezers, refrigerators and I'm sure the list goes could on. Homes or equipment/appliances are not build out to for that advancement yet. Just like when cars started populating the country the roads weren't build so the the horses couldn't be retired as long as cars got stuck. There was a rather smooth transition in recent years from the Analog TV to Digital TV. We transitioned from trains to planes. Over the years we have gone from TV commercial breaks of one minute to five minutes over 60 years. I guess not all is bad as I don't move as fast now but I can still complain that I seem the same commercial too many times. So keep my power on 24/7 at a reasonable rate. Clay

    Brake Job

Since you are in the HDT section I would recommend using the 3/4 drive. I use the Tee or Power bar with a 5 foot pipe. I have used the same pipe over 20 years breaking nuts and bolts loose. Going back I'm using 1/2 inch drive torque wrench at 150 pounds. Clay and I avoid CH Ina tools when my knuckles are involved
  13. For the Full-timer, my observation, either a Fifth wheel or Class A will work best. My wife observation is the Class A has the smaller Kitchens plus the actual storage is less in the upper area. As mentioned in an earlier post the Class A has lots of basement space but some under low extended slides. Go for ever works, Test what feels comfort by spending an hour walking through your daily chores. Clay
  14. I got mine nearly 6 years ago after selling all my fixed assets. I was full time but had a daughter in Texas so with reality my Domicile would be Texas. Since that day I have remarried to a lady with fixed assets in the land of taxes so I Trust I'm prepared just in case. Clay
  15. Twotoes. That is some what similar to what I have in coverage except I don't have a Umbrella anymore. I have sent an Email to Miller's in OR but no response yet. Originally they put vehicles in one policy payable as a lump sum not individual cost but they did list liabilities separate. I'm domicled in Texas so it this time I don't know whether is Texas or???. My trouble is the Class 5 Tow vehicle. I will give Geico a call tomorrow. Thanks
  16. I have received a non-renewal notice for National General basically on the fact I have to much coverage on my Truck & RV. My question is what is considered is adequate Full timer coverage and if you have umbrella policy do you have that with a separate company (Actually we are not 365 day full timers but maybe 240 days in Texas, IL, MN & WI plus other 1-2 week trips). The RV is considered as my home with liability. National General told me in 2019 they would cut my coverage to 100/300/50 if I wanted to change anything in the coverage. Previously I had a lower coverage with an umbrella but that changed when I purchased the 2014 Freightliner M2-106. My RV is a 2016 DRV 38PS3. I also have a car on the policy Clay
  17. I loved the show but don't remember your show. Per Kirk, We also didn't have a TV when Alfred started playing the tube. There are re-runs and METV but I'm asleep then. Clay
  18. I remember the commercials. And after the one minute commercial it was back to the program. What a difference from the 5 minutes of commercials. Clay
  19. With a Bumper Pull Trailer you kind of watch your weight distribution. Bumper weight is important Looking at "RV Flips & Bursts into Fire" listed this morning on the General RV Information suggests there may have been an overload on the rear of the Trailer. Bad scene. Clay
  20. I agree with Chalkie. Stay put or go a different way. I do have a set singles for my Truck but never intend to be on highway with them. If I were buying for the trailer I would want links on the thread following the diameter of the tire. I have seem one set of chains that had continuous links around the tire surface kind of like this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009NPM0A6/?tag=20aw-20 Clay
  21. My definition of Real Generation is Generation that can run anytime. We don't have to wait the sun to shine, snow to melt or the wind to get above 7 MPH. Centralized power plants vs Distributed power plant are both important. I like to think of the Electrical System being like the Railroads. Centralized power is like the railroads 100 years ago Distributed power is the Future. We aren't there yet but have most of the building blocks. Railroads carries a lot of freight, the distributed moving of freight and people is the individual planes and trucks. Electricity has come a long way since about 1879 when George Westinghouse and LL Nunn attached a Hydro Generator to the mine. The AC power was 133 cycles. The 2.3 (?) mile power line was supported by tree holding bottles as Insulators. This distance was not possible with Edison's DC generation. Clay
  22. Battery plants have a purpose but limited application. They can shave the peak or be used quick take over of a matched size load for a short time to allow rapid start generation to come on line up to speed (typically 10-15 minutes) This is used in Alaska where often village can be easily isolated from the larger power source by a single power line. It has has been a few years since I involved with generator/power source rating. Then most rating was based on the ability to generate for 4 continuous hours . If you had a 100 Mwatt plant it would be require to have a net generation of least 100 MwHours each hours or be de-rated to a practical number. How much Energy (Mwhr) would the Tesla Battery plant put out continuously for 15 minute, one hour or 4 hours? Thus these are special application generators and difference rating apply Going on, wind/solar generator, Man is not control of their output, Nature is. As a result the generation output was acknowledged until connected to the grid for X minutes (10?) and then only counted as X% (5-7) actual output. An Example would be a 100 MW wind farm generating 50 Mw per hour (50 Mwhr's) may be only be given 3 Mw towards their on line generator and the other 47 Mw would be have be spinning on other prime generators or backed up with quick start generation (Jet engine or the like of Tesla Battery Plant.) The most secure Generation is where the Fuel is stored at the power plant. Nuclear is the most reliable in that category. Coal is next best but dealing with frozen coal can be a problem. Can Natural Gas supply be guaranteed, the utility I worked for had dual fuel Jet engines generators for backup and peaking, Quick start was always on oil as it was required, the gas company would have be called to increase the gas pressure and give the OK to continue generation with a cheaper fuel. Weatherization is not the whole answer but having real generation to back-up the the lost of renewables is a must or lights out. Clay having worked in both WSCC and MAIN regions.
  23. And I might add "either the machine/system can't be restarted or has lost its memory". In the last 8 days I have sent two priority mails to Texas. On message of tracking says "Feb 23, In Transit, Arriving Late. Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility. The second item has the standard "USPS is now in possession of your item as of 1:41 pm on ............... IL " but no acknowledgement of leaving the originating PO. bu neither did the first mailing I have a UPS operation here but just FedEx drop off. The only difficulty both business uses a PO Box. What other options are available with the Covid-19 and Doctors orders to stay put. Clay in NW Illinois
  24. I vote for the small battery minder/float charger. Does a perfect job except when parked to far from a the electric source. My unit is mounted on the frame and is weather tight. Can't tell you the brand but 6 years old now and working fine. This winter solar would not have been a good source as of yesterday I still over 12 inches of ice and snow on the roof Clay
