Any recommended RV parks in or near Quartzite.

Howdy All,

Now that Donna is finally going to retire the end of this coming December, we would like to escape from the Nor-Wet gloom for a bit.  I have driven through Quartzite but never stopped there, we would like to go to Quartzite from end of January till probably around the 3rd week of February so looking to stay someplace for a month.  I would like to do the boondock thing, however I want this to be a fun experience for Donna so I figured its best to do the RV park thing the first time down there where we don't have to worry about power, water, etc, just go to a RV park use that as a base camp and explore from there.  So if you folks have any recommendations of a decent place to stay at a semi-reasonable price that can accommodate rigs such as our, 72 feet long I sure would appriciate any suggestions you have.  Thanks.

Soon to be,

Dave, Donna and Newt

Dave,

The North Ranch, Escapees park, near congress, Az would work.  We stayed there for a week last Feb.  Lots of desert/mountain roads for your sxs, some great roads for your two wheeler, and if you're an Escapees member, cheap rates.  The park offers slightly better amenities than boobdocking, but not much.

Howdy Rick,

Thanks for the information, I'll look into it.  I suppose I should get around to looking into Escapees membership at that same time.

Originally, I joined Escapees because I felt guilty being here on the forum, and not paying my way.  As we travel more, I'm finding more parks giving Escapees discounts, which sometimes are quite substantial.  Rolled into one last winter that had just become an Escapees park that day.  Saved me $15/night.

Great question! I'll be following this thread as I expect to get to Quartzite for the first time this winter myself. I understand that there are many "camps" (Winnebago, Airstream, Boomers, Casitas etc, etc). Is there an HDT camp? I understand that there are various events (gem show, RV show etc) at Quartzite over the camping season; is there a calendar of events published anywhere? I'm also looking for a ONE STOP SOLUTION for getting solar for my Super-C. I've heard of "Solar Bill". Can anyone recommend other competent sources? Thanks in advance!

Dave, or more correctly Mr. Cob

With that big long nose beauty I would recommend Quail Run RV. It is on Central just north of Main.

Big pull thrus and plenty of room. Lots of of big rv`s with stacker trailers,  closer to the hiway.

Yeah you should be licensced   (your Mav) but you can ride to a LOT of trails. And do not forget Silly Al`s.

Howdy cactus,

Thanks, I'll check out that RV Park.  My XRC is plated for Washington State, I carry full coverage insurance on it just in case, just 10 days ago I was driving it on some SUPER trails just north of Payson AZ, man I wish I was still there instead of here in the RAIN.  "Silly Al's" sounds like a place to check out.

The Escapee park in Congress is definitely worth a stop but if you want to do things around Quartzsite - even at Parker or Brenda -  then stay in the area. Congress is too far to tour every day.

Howdy 2Gypsies,

Thanks for your reply, I just found the camp ground at Brenda, and have called an left a message at Quail Run, so I am on the hunt.

I would not recommend Solar Bill unless you know exactly what you want in a solar install.  Discount Solar has a much better reputation, however, as with a lot of things in Quartzsite they are over priced.

While at Quartzite last Jan 2018 I had Solar Bill install 6 new batteries for my couch. Had to return 3 times before they got it wired up correct. Can’t say I would recommend them either.

Yup, when we do want a RV park in Quartzsite it's Quail Run that we turn to normally.

Hey Dave,

I don't know if you thought of ever joining an Xscapers event, but the annual bash will be at Lake Havasu, AZ starting on Jan 12th. It is boondocking there, but it's only about 8 days long. I think you guys would enjoy it. We'll be in Quartszite around New Years ourselves, then on to Lake Havasu for the annual bash. I expect several HDT's at at the annual bash this year.

Howdy Dan,

That event sounds like a good time.  Donna's working until December 31st, then she retires, finally.  So it will take us some time ot get used to and plan for this new lifestyle attending an event at that time of years just won't work this year but it is something to seriously consider in the future.

Dave, I certainly understand about getting on the road and getting down there. Well check the Xscapers page for upcoming events - https://www.xscapers.com/xscapers-community/convergences/. I think you would fit in well as there is a large diverse group of Xscapers, both working and retired and it's been an amazing group of friends I've met on the road.

If you are still hanging in the SW in the beginning of April, Moab Utah is an awesome event that we participated in last year. - https://www.xscapers.com/event/moab-convergence/. We rent out an old abandoned runway the week before the Jeep Jamboree starts in Moab, then the runway opens up to the public for 2 weeks of the big Jeep festival so it's 3 straight weeks of boondocking in an awesome location right in Moab. Seeing all the decked out Jeeps was pretty cool too. I'm sure in your motorcycle travels, you have visited Moab before. We spent 5 weeks in Moab earlier this year and loved it.

Howdy Dan,

I have spent a lot of time in Moab, we have an annual Ural event the last week of April each year, we mostly stay at the Arch View RV Park.
