National HDT Rally

I was at the Gypsy Rally and escorting Bill when he won the pageant. I actually lost a beer can down his cleavage and got in trouble as I was getting it back while escorting him to the stage. I was forgiven when they saw what I was after.

They did pay Jack. If I remember, we raised $500+ for DAV at the rally. As for grease spots, I had a quart of KY GO-140 lube but Nick wouldn't let me bring it on stage. I also think we made the Walmartians of Celina, Oh while trying on 'outfits'. There were a few 'well I nevers' heard during the fittings.

My 'theme' was was Bertha Butt - one of the Butt sisters

hey Steve- on a serious note - Cec noticed when I printed the schedule,

Tues 11-4 Dales lunch and shopping

Tues 2-4 for women only with Greg

might want to look at that.

Thanks Bill for pointing that out. The schedule is like a house of cards. Move one thing, and the rest crumbles. I'm sending the changes over to Mark now, so it should be updated sometime today. We also added Cec to the schedule for "Traveling with Pets". It got great responses last time and we would love to have it again.

Just a word on the HDT Rally Registrations page as to how you get on the page.

I pickup people who say they are coming to the Tally from this thread. That gets a *entry. The * goes away when Steve receives your registration and notifies me. So far there is one confirmed entry, Steve and Gail.

It would help if when you say you are coming, names (first & last) are known. I can't always decode the cryptic names used on the Forum. Also truck and trailer, if present. Steve will forward this information when he gets it but there are lags in that process since Steve spends a lot of time in the air or waiting to be in the air.

We will be there.....

I'll again be giving the Fire Safety presentation - with an actual live "training" extinguisher blowoff (without actual fire - we cannot do that at the fairgrounds). This was a request from the last Rally comment forms. I'll probably use two extinguishers - one chemical and one "foam".....Fire is a serious issue in RV's. Make sure you understand your escape plans, your extinguishers and their capabilities. And consider the virtues of RV propane refrigeration vs. residential compressor refrigeration.

Mark Bruss and I will again give a heavily revised "Communications on the Road" seminar that will cover most of the technology used in today's world. Like last year - there WILL be give-away's. And even better ones. There will be basic as well as advanced technology discussed. We will try to keep a complex topic as simple as possible.

And lastly - since there has been demand for it - I will bring back a very heavily revised "RV Solar and Electric" presentation. It will be a two part seminar. The first part will be the "basics", and the second part will walk thru an actual design of a complete Toterhome implementation (that I did for a Forum member). It will step through the design and why certain things are done the way they are. It will cover all the tradeoffs made during design, and the component parts and how they interconnect. So it "should" be a meaningful example that relates to our trucks as well as our RVs. And less boring than a non-focused "parts" discussion. While I will cover batteries and Lithium technology some, I'll leave most of that for David Dixon's discussion of his nifty battery system. So our two seminars should be complementary.

After attending this presentation, most "hands on" RV owners should feel comfortable tackling an implementation on their own. And anyone that attends can run their designs by me.....

David, I'll get with you some time this summer so we can work out who says what.....

I'm planning on doing your electronics project.

In fact, I'm playing with a more automated RO system this summer. Ideally I'l like to have the pressures from 5-6 locations, the flow rates, and the ppm of the input and output water on a remote display. I'd also like to be able to trigger/force the system on/off from that location.

Steve is the campground open to us during the previous week like it was last year (or is there a rally ahead of us)? I'll be in Chanute before coming over (getting the bodywork done from when the wheel departed out though the back of the rig) and may be able to come in a couple of days early.

There is a week gap between the Good Sams and the National HDT Rally, so the park should be wide open for the "Pre Rally Rally"! See ya there!
