  1. So, we're back to the days when my grandfather use to place the external part of his hearing aids on the table next to the radio to better hear the ballgame? Linda
  2. I know nothing about trucks. But, I looked at the length of the cab vs the length of the bed and thought it must be a short bed. Then I looked at the length of the camper overhanging behind the bumper and thought, "Uh oh." I can't believe anyone thought that combo was a good idea. And that was before they hung a bike on the back. Linda
  3. The week leading into the big show there will be van/car dweller presentations at the city ball field. Linda
  4. Not sure about pricing but Sportsmobile.com does great buildouts and they sell used ones on their website. Linda
  5. Are you paying people to be interviewed? If so, I know some people who might be interested. Linda
  6. Wow! This is all really happening. Fast! Linda
  7. A different but true story. My friend was pulling out of a driveway when a cop came over the hill to his left. The cop turned around and pulled him over. Cop said, "Coming out of the driveway pretty fast weren't you" Friend said, "Coming over that hill pretty fast weren't you?" Passenger started laughing. They each got a ticket--the passenger for not wearing a seat belt. Linda Sand
  8. A domicile or an address? If Florida just needs an address you could give them your SKP address but leave your domicile in Illinois. Linda
  9. Nothing in listing about tank sizes other than water heater. I wonder why? Linda
  10. I keep cash on hand but rarely use it. I used my checkbook the last time I was at La Posa South in Quartzite since they don't take any kind of credit/debit card. Iron Rangers never take credit cards so it's wise for those of us who like that type of camping to keep a checkbook or cash on hand, preferably lots of small bills. Linda Sand
  11. Welcome to the Classless Class. Most of graduated to full-time in 2008 or 2009 so many of us are now off the road although there are a few die hards still out there at least part time. But, some of us still come here to support newbies even if we no longer have regular meetups. So, welcome to whatever we can help you with. Linda Sand
  12. Excellent update!, thank you. I was ten when my parents first took me camping in a trailer so I suspect your kids will now be hooked for life as well. Linda Sand
  13. You should both listen to your agent and read the documents. You need to be looking for the exclusions. They are not always clear. Like my friend whose new health insurance policy said exactly the same thing as the old policy--there was no mention of there being a new start date for pre-existing conditions that had not yet been diagnosed. That oversight on the part of the agent cost my friend a LOT of money. Linda
  14. Agents are salespeople. Are you familiar with the often quoted statement here that "If a salesperson's lips are moving..." Friends had an insurance agent assure them that changing the location of their health insurance would not change their coverage. But they were denied coverage under a pre-existing condition clause because not enough time had passed since they got the "new" coverage. Funny how it was not the agent that paid those medical bills. Happy Holidays

Walking in a winter wonderland. In Minnesota. 6° at 3 pm with snow on the ground. I'm not actually walking in it, though. I'm just admiring it thought our windows. I hope you all are having a great time wherever you are and whatever you are celebrating. Linda Sand
  16. I hope, for their sakes, demand continues. We are having another surge of Covid-19 here so it appears the pandemic may be far from over. Linda
  17. The people I know using propane heaters use them to remove the evening chill then turn them off when they go to bed. They turn them on in the morning just long enough to take the nighttime chill off. Sleeping with them on is risky. Linda
  18. "Factory authorized" are not good words. Our recent experience with a GE dishwasher: each week for a month they ordered a different new part then sent reps out to try that one. Finally the in-house guy here swapped out a part GE no longer sells and that worked. Linda Sand
  19. I understand you don't have an RV. Are you saying you don't own any vehicle at all? If so, how do you get around? Linda
  20. Anyone who goes full-time in a specific year is a member of that class. But, if you want that class to become cohesive someone in it needs to plan a get together where you meet one another. Traditionally that first get together is in Quartzite in January of the following year. The first person to arrive post coordinates of their campsite so others can find them. Directional signs and a signature color flag on an antenna help. The desert is rock hard so any signs need to be free standing. Linda Sand
  21. When I was living in my van, I would buy an annual BLM sticker to have access to fresh water and dump. But I would go park further out and just come in to the La Posa South LTVA to dump and fill. The annual pass is about equivalent to 10 weeks parked in an LTVA but is good at several LTVAs in Arizona and California if you like to move around. Midland LTVA north of Blythe in CA is not as popular because it doesn't have the amenities but nothing says you can't park there in between trips to dump and fill. I mostly camped in the free areas because that's where my friends were. When I was getting ready to dump and fill I would give them whatever water they needed from what I had left. You might want to check out cheaprvliving.com and homesonwheelsalliance.org to learn what other van dwellers are doing. Linda
  22. Southern NM is much colder than southern AZ. Fingerless gloves might help. Linda
  23. There's a difference in having only your RV insured and having your RV be your only vehicle. You may have other vehicles insured elsewhere or have homeowner's or renter's insurance which covers the liability issue. But, if you are a full timer, with no toad or tow or other housing, Progressive will not cover you. They will sell you a policy but it won't cover you. Linda
  24. This depends on so many things. What is the humidity level? How many layers of clothes do you wear? What is your sleeping bag rated for? How good is your own circulation? What, if any, insulation does the van have? Where are you--New Mexico is cold. Southern Arizona is not too bad in the desert but there are mountains in Arizona, too. And so on. If you are in the desert in southern Arizona you will probably by OK. Nighttime temps are often in the 40s there but it warms up a lot during the day. Southern means south of I-10. if WinAZ means Winslow, don't try it. Along I-40 is too cold for most of us. Linda Sand
