  1. If they truly expect to be there long term could they move into a mobile home park instead of an RV park? Linda
  2. Why would people wanting to stay long term move into a short term park? Linda
  3. Yes, but you linked to a page he wrote for your blog that does not have a date on it. Linda
  4. Kirk, It might be helpful to put a date on Bruce's post so people will know how current that information is. We all know how rapidly some things change while others stay the same for a long time. Linda
  5. Our "home" state was in the midwest so we were able to stop there once a year for primary care with our regular doctors. Our employer sponsored PPO plan let us get care in other places without extra expense. But, that was many years ago so may be harder to get now although I hear Florida is the best state in which to get it. Good luck. Linda Sand
  6. In my van, I had an electric 2.5 gallon water heater. I could turn on the power for 10 minutes then turn it off and the hot water would be a perfect temperature to shower without adding cold. No wasting water trying to get the mixture right. Not a typical situation but something to think about. Linda
  7. I always left mine on except on the rare occasion I was hooked up to city water. Linda Sand
  8. I've been noticing that there are simply not as many questions posted as there used to be. I've been on here about 15 years and it used to take quite a bit of time every day to read and to respond when I thought I had something of value to say. Now, a half hour or less gets everything done. I miss all that interaction. I even miss my disagreements with BarbaraOK. Linda Sand
  9. While that is true for most medications it is not always true for pain medication depending on what class drug it is. I suspect one that requires a new prescription every three months may not be so readily available. I hope someone who has to deal with that answers soon. Linda Sand
  10. Language is a living thing. It changes as our society changes. There are a lot of words in the dictionary now that weren't there when I was a kid. Linda
  11. Not always. If metropolitan area, yes. If out in the desert? We rented a car in Key West but never tried to do so in Quartzsite. Linda

My dad was still standing to put on pants in his 90s. His wife questioned whether or not it was time to sit down to do that. Then Dad lost his balance and broke his hip. Guess the answer was yes. Linda
  13. I do a backup whenever my online comics expand telling me it is Sunday. I also backup once a month when Dave hands me the drive to back up to. I don't do daily backups because I don't do anything that often that needs saving. I'm retired. Linda
  14. You wife, apparently, needs to learn here is no such thing as cheap, new, quality. She may get two but not all three. If she wants cheap quality, she needs to go old. If she wants new quality, it won't be cheap. If she wants cheap new, it won't be quality. Maybe explaining that to her will help her decide what she really wants. Linda
  15. Sometimes it is a better deal to pay for a whole year even though you will only be there for three seasons. That would also make it easier to declare that your domicile, I would think.
  16. Fulltimers insurance is important. Some insurers will cover your trailer but not include the liability part that a full timer needs. Linda
  17. In Las Vegas, we only got a spot because we were only 35 feet long so most rigs would not fit in that spot. There was NO extra room; we had to park the car separately. The same happened in Austin, TX, with my conversion van, although there was a little extras space beyond my 24 feet, it was a short site that most rigs could not use. Sometimes it's good to be small. Linda Sand
  18. My mother took "You can't miss it" as a chance to prove someone wrong. She would simply be in the wrong lane to make a turn. I never understood how she was "showing" something to someone else. Linda
  19. The one where we bought our first Class B has closed. I suspect the owner wanted to retire when the pandemic hit but that is pure guess. Linda
  20. I know nothing about the quality of any of those but I, personally, would prefer one of the first two simply for the placement of the TV. I hate TVs that are placed where you are guaranteed to get a crick in your neck from watching and we like to watch movies. Linda Sand
  21. I'm pretty sure your cats will let you know which they prefer. We had a cat that loved riding in the back window of the car and another one that hated the car altogether. Linda
  22. We got 18-20 mpg in our Sprinters. Dave is 6'2" tall and his hair would move when he walked under the A/C in our class Bs. He was uncomfortable being that close to the ceiling so we moved into a Sprinter-based Class C to have more room. When he stopped traveling, I went back to a Class B Sprinter for snowboarding solo. Our Class Bs were 2008 (Dodge then) and 2012 purchases. The only time we spent in a shop was for regular maintenance and once when my diesel heater stopped working properly. Oh, and to put solar panels on the Class C. Linda Sand
  23. In your situation, I likely would buy a market place PPO pollcy in Florida, Or you could put money into a designated savings account for future medical care. Then you can spend it where and when needed. Of course, the second option will not get you any negotiated coverage prices but sometimes you can negotiate for paying cash. In the meantime, medicaid does means testing that would likely eliminate your ability to own an RV. My mother was not allowed to own a vehicle worth more than $500 when she applied for subsidized housing. Linda
