  1. One of my blog friends has a daughter currently transitioning from auto machine to airplane mechanic through a trade school path. She started at a quicky oil change place and moved up from there. I love seeing this! Linda
  2. My friend who lived in Norman died recently and I am glad she is not one coping with this now. I wish you and your family well. Linda
  3. A good driving school will teach you how to safely do those things. We we taught to look out the passenger window at the curb we were pulling around to determine when to swing. We were taught how to use the engine brake. We were taught to pay close attention to roadside traffic signs. We were taught how to split the lane when turning from a 2-lane into a one lane. But, all of that was at The RV Driving School, not some tech college course. I think it was well worth paying for their knowledge and ability to explain things. Linda Sand
  4. Be aware that a generator needs to be exercised under load regularly. When we had one built in we would run it with the A/C when traveling from one site to another. That got the job done without irritating neighbors. Linda Sand
  5. Oust removes odors not just covers them with a flowery scent. Linda
  6. Many years ago, when we were in a tent trailer, friends showed us we could have an outdoor kitchen anywhere we had electricity. A crockpot, electric skillet, induction burner--whatever. But we always cooked inside once we moved into a motorhome--no bugs flying into your food. Linda Sand
  7. My dentist now gives me a printout of potential charges for me to sign before the work is done. Linda
  8. No but... Norman has both a Waffle House and a Cracker Barrel which are two of my favorite places to eat. That Waffle House is the last one on my snowbird trip back north so I always stopped there. I miss Waffle House. We do have a Cracker Barrel about an hour's drive from here so we go there once every few years. I get the roast beef dinner with three sides and package up half in a go box before I start to eat--two meals for the price of one. Enjoy your visit with your daughter. Linda
  9. Minnesota has a sales tax but they don't tax groceries or clothing or, I think, a few other things. I seem to remember text books not being taxed. So, if you rarely buy anything other than food and clothing you won't care about our sales tax. Unless you are buying that food in a restaurant, which is taxed, since that doesn't qualify as groceries. Also, if you rent instead of buying a house, you likely won't care about property tax. Kind of like buying insurance, which state has a good rate tax for you depends on what your own needs are. Linda
  10. How do you put sheets on that? I can see if you raise both sides equally but just one side?
  11. The most important part of covering an RV is making sure it is tight everywhere. You don't want the cover beating against the RV when the winds pick up. Linda
  12. I don't speak electricity but this sounds to me like it would use all your power leaving nothing for other needs. What am I misunderstanding? Linda
  13. It sounds like you made the right decision for you. I wish you happy travels in your new home. Linda Sand
  14. I could ride an electric bike but it can't go everywhere I want to go. Just like my Scoot can't go everywhere a bike can go. It's nice to have alternatives for various situations. Linda
  15. I've seen people riding them but have no personal knowledge. Linda
  16. The break even point at the LTVAs is 9 weeks. So, if you are staying for more than two months, the rest of the time is free. I always bought an annual permit so I could come and go at will all winter. I was usually somewhere in the area from November through March so even if I was just passing through I could stop overnight with no more expense. Sometimes I just stopped to dump and fill and drop off trash on my way to a different boondocking spot. Linds Sand
  17. Thank you for this and the correction of the first word to fission. I actually understood it! Linda
  18. How is this related to the nuclear power plants we already have here in Minnesota? Simple words, please. Linda
  19. Should that title say 2023? Linda
  20. When checking out sources like RV Park Reviews it is important to read the review not just look at the stars. Different people have different likes/dislikes/needs so you need to find the ones most similar to you. We, for instance, never needed a playground or dog park. Linda Sand
  21. How easy it was for us back in 2008 has little to do with how easy it will be for you now. The main problem now seems to be investment firms; it appears government regulations now require them to have a physical, residential address. So far, it looks like your best bet for that is to get an address at Rainbow's End but even that is not guaranteed to work everywhere. I'd take Kirk's advice and talk to the people who can give you real answers for today's challenges. Linda Sand
  22. I think dealers are the primary users of those guides and they don't care about add-ons. When we traded in our View they didn't even list the solar system in their ad to sell it. In California! You'd think a lot of people shopping for an RV in California would care that it had a fully installed solar system. Linda
