  1. I have had excellent service from my Maxxis Trailer tires for many years and also Goodyear, Michelin and General Grabber tires for my 3 dodge rams including HD 2500.
  2. I spend at least 3 months or more a year in northern California fishing and camping and stay at state and county campgrounds with RV spaces (no hook ups at most) and spend $35.00 a night for nice paved site with table, fire ring and often a shade tree and close to fishing water such as large Sacramento River delta or a lake or not to far from SF bay area for fishing the salt. lots of open space between sites with paved interior roads. Also stay at National FS campgrounds for 50% discount. Never visited or stayed at private RV parks that always looks crowded and jammed up. Sometimes American Land and Leisure gives me a 50% camping discount at state parks for my Disabled Vet plates and ID card both military and VA. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1734375066864671&type=3
  3. RV I consider you a valuable asset to this forum and a winner in so many ways. Keep on going and continue the mission bro vet. Cheers to some and thorns to others.
  4. TTB SSAT. I think his question was answered by many others already.
  5. RV I made copies of the VA award letter confirming I am totally and permanent Disable Vet with no future exams scheduled. Also DEERS office then required a VA Commissary Letter stating the very same thing of my P&T status and authorizing me to use base PX/Commissary and MRWF recreation facility. In other words two different letters saying the same thing in essence. I on my own took these two letters plus current drivers license and other current government documents such as passport, DD 214/215 etc to the DEERS office as a walk in with no appointment. Had to fill out a form and they take your photo. Waiting time about an hour or so with chairs for us to sit on. DOD military tan card is known as DD form 2765 and looks like a regular military ID except it is tan in color. Google images will show this and other military cards on Google Search. Besides active military bases non retired vets can now get their military tan ID cards from Guard and Reserve DEERS offices such as the Reno Army Reserve center in town close to the airport. Appointments are now required. Now disabled vets no longer need the DOD Form ID 2765 to gain access but must show at least a VA Health Care card showing them as service connected for any percentage of disability. There is also a CAC (Common Access Card) that their dependents may need but I am not sure about dependent requirements or anything about this CAC card. I still have my original VA serviced connected card with the purple triangle on front of card issued to me 1985. Old memories.
  6. I have one of those military disabled cards for permanent non expire issued at ft hood in 2000. I took va paper work to the deers office.
  7. "I'm service connected so I tend to ignore the fine print sometimes." Well said agealius. I meet at least two of those requirements with my PH and 100% P&T status with good results at Army, Air Force and Naval bases in several states since 1998. The active large Veterans Benefits Network forum has the above listed requirements and law listed on their site and very recent changes to allow all disabled vets created a lot of dismay and unhappiness among the retired military members. I have flown space A many years ago when in the Guard and took a trip to Washington D.C. to visit the Army Warrant Officer Branch at the Pentagon and interview for a pilot flying job with Air America in 74. The return to Texas trip was quite an adventure. Cheers to some. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1738689559766555&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1739912699644241&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2071282349840606&type=3 https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1732362730399238&type=3
  8. For many years 100% Disabled P&T vets such as myself have been allowed to use military base PX/Commissary and MRWF such as on base RV parks/campgrounds, golfing, boating, etc. and also Space A flight travel on low priority level. I am a non lifer and have both the Military and VA Disabled permanent ID cards since 1998 and have used the facilities many times in Texas, California, etc. Most recently any vet with a VA health ID card showing a disability is now allowed the same base privileges. You can confirm this information by visiting the VA website and/or each military base website and clicking on their recreation link and requirements for using the RV park will be listed as to who can use the park. Each base commander has final authority to decide who can use their facilities depending on present circumstances. Some veterans and other forums constantly put out false information that only retired military can use base PX and recreation facilities and Space A travel and this has not been true since at least 1998. EYHO I am too lazy to find the law link for you but is easy to find as Google Search is your friend and links are not required as per guidelines. https://www.facebook.com/william.perkins.79274 https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-in-Far-East-SE-Asia-and-ME-1425108021122523
  9. "The oil in my Cummins diesel turns a deep black within a few hundred miles of driving." As I am driving gasers and not a diesel my oil only turns black early when I have driven extensively on BLM desert dusty roads. I then also change to new air filter. Normally never turns black when driven 3000 or more miles. Works for me for 3 Dodge Rams including HD 2500 V10. All three of my trucks receive hard use at times and all have close to or over 100,000 miles so I must be doing something right. Sorry to disappoint a few here. I can easily afford 3000 mile oil/filter and air filter changes as insurance so don't worry yourselves about my finances as I receive free and/or 50% discount camping at all Fed public campgrounds and many state parks since 1998. EYHO. Please note I have no desire, need or requirement for diesel or def. I could also afford the gas for V10 so Cheers to some. Retired Acct & SEC CFP. 11. Since at least 2001 I have used Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil and Amsoil synthetic ATF for the tranny in my Dodge Ram 2500 V10 and two rams V8 1500s and absolutely no serious issue with engines or transmissions and often towing 4500 lb trailer in the mountains plus often rough off road use in western BLM lands and national FS. I normally use walmart and oil/filter changes are cheap to me. Change the oil every 3000 miles (normally) or sooner if dirty looking (dark). Almost always use Mobil 1 oil filters. trucks have 138,000 miles on V10, 94,000 miles on a 1500 and 100,000 + miles on other 1500. Only need to add tiny amount of ATF every 6 months or so. Still going strong. The V10 is a towing monster and I can afford the gas. Works for me. MMHBA TYFYC William Perkins | Facebook
  12. TTB SSAT MEACAROT For over twenty years at least I have had absolutely excellent service from Amazon, UPS and UPS stores, Fed Ex and yes even the USPS for both mail and package deliveries in at least two different states. When overseas for 12 years I used DHL and USPS. I carefully plan ahead and set things up before hand. I must be doing something wrong. Maybe born lucky??? Cheers to some. William Perkins | Facebook
  13. Lets see China has about one billion people and USA about 300 million. Still a ways to go. Wikipedia will have a more accurate count and Google search will reveal Wikipedia. Link not required. Cheers to some but not all. MMHBA TFYC https://www.facebook.com/william.perkins.79274
  14. Before price increases I received both the life time National Senior Pass (Golden Age) , and Disabled Veteran (Golden Eagle) national passes around same time and have used them extensively at all federal public campgrounds. Also have the Oregon Disabled veterans free and 50% percent state pass plus Nevada and Texas disabled vet pass for their state parks. American Land & Leisure in California honors my 100% Disabled P&T ID (military and VA ID cards) for 50% discount camping at some state parks. Have saved thousands of dollars since 1998 from all 5 passes and this equaled more fishing camping. Have used all extensively and only occasional use of overcrowded private RV parks with nose to tail parking while in transit. Life is good and payback is sweet indeed. EYHO. William Perkins | Facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1738689559766555&type=3 Please note a Disabled Veteran is also a disabled Person for those who like to argue.
  15. At my age a tiny portable nuclear generator would be I deal for my frequent prolonged camping trips on all public lands. Could recycle by selling to others when no longer needed. 16. I crawled inside of wrecked autos leaking fuel to extract injured drivers as a volunteer young emergency ambulance attendant in the 60s and can empathize with extra hazards facing firefighters in present day auto fire situations. We HS and JC students saved a lot of lives in a 4 year period and often arrived on scene before police or fire personnel. We were fast with new modern V8 ambulances and only one minor fender bender on icy roads in central Texas. Most of us were sent to Nam after this as medics or in my case Army medevac pilot and one was KIA in 69 with two of us receiving PHs in 69 and 70. 17. Well said hemsteadc. Sounds like a safety winner to me and I see a hybrid in my future as they have both big battery and gas tank for safety backup. Glad I am non smoker for health reasons, etc. Cheers to some. P.S. As I am a Tesla fan maybe RV can tell me how many EVs and hybrids are on the U.S. roads today? https://www.facebook.com/Pilot-Bill-Perkins-Exotic-Living-in-Far-East-SE-Asia-and-ME-1425108021122523
  18. Bigjim thanks for comment. In 1968 I served as a legislative aide to the large Texas State Affairs committee that first received most important new bills for consideration and then taking action or referring to other committees. Majority of all bills like this one was were sent to a committee where no action or votes were taken on the matter and they die a quiet death. Same thing happens in U.S. Congress. 19. Even though San Diego and the real estate is very expensive living it is not safe now to use the beaches and this is not the first time. Here is one of many easy to find links on this matter. Google Search is your friend. Please note I am responding to Ray's comment only. After many year living in SD a Nam medevac friend of mine moved from SD back to northern Michigan because of these factors. I spend a lot of time in northern California. 20. Thanks Big Rick. Here is just one of many news links referring to the possible driverless $80,000 Tesla crash. If true then you can't cure stupid and this nation is full of idiots with many of them owning self drive cars in the future. This was all predictable due to American culture. Those large batteries burn for a long time and create extra hazards to firefighters according to an old news report I read last year and if interested in this subject one can do an easy to use Google search for the link/s on the extra hazards. Google search is your friend. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/no-one-may-have-been-in-drivers-seat-in-tesla-crash-that-killed-2-near-houston-11618783398 Cheers to some.
