  1. This new pushrod V8 is designed to fit into every full-size truck or van Ford builds, operates at a lower RPM than their other 8 or 10 cylinder engines. I just may switch from Chevy to Ford in a few years when the new engine has proven itself.
  2. I've never locked my tow-bar; for the reason Kirk assigned. I simply do a walk-around each time we prepare to drive again. When we traveled in 5ers I locked the pull-rod lock. I began locking the pull-rod latch after we saw a 5er dropped onto the truck bed rails at a rest area. I don't have a clue why it came unlocked from the 5er pin, but I did see where my pull-rod latch/lock had vibrated almost out of the locking groove in the pull-rod a few times. BTW, that latch/locking lever is the only thing that prevents the hitch from opening.
  3. Scott I may have assumed too much, as not all leveling systems are HWH brand, which is what I was describing when talking about the dump valve button. Its best to follow your instruction manual.
  4. Assuming I understand your questions correctly I'll attempt to answer. When you push the button to dump the air (This is dumping air from the air suspension) the air gauge will not go to zero because this does not dump air from your braking system, only the air suspension. This is normal operation. There is no need to hold the air dump button down, a simply press will suffice to trigger the solenoid that opens the air dump valve, IF it is operating as designed. When you use the automatic level function, the system should automatically dump the air suspension, then proceed to level the MH, and automatically shut off when level is obtained. When you read and understand the procedure for performing an air brake check you'll understand why the low air warning buzzer sounds and when, and when it is designed to stop sounding.
  5. Yes; we are quite happy with our furniture. Mattress is a Serta double-sided pillow-top, the only down-side is it is quite heavy to flip; well, it suppose once in 19 years is not excessive effort.☺️
  6. Amazon(app) offers pickup services, you tell them where you want to pickup your merchandise, they ship it to the center you choose, you pickup when you choose. As to finding the lowest price, download software that tracks the item you want and notifies you when the price drops, or the lowest price on the internet.
  7. I believe you are right in your assessment of modern society. Most thefts are a crime of opportunity IMO, I think there is a very small percentage of dedicated thieves. When we carried our Boliy genset in the truckbed, the main reason I had it secured with a 3/16" cable was to keep it from bouncing into, and getting damaged by the 5er hitch; anti-theft was a side-effect. How much security would it insure when the handles are plastic? I once saw a man had his genset chained to the trailer bumper with a 3/8" chain -shiny and strong looking, the padlock looked like it came from a dollar store; still the genset had plastic handle supports, guess there was logic somewhere.
  8. There are many genset brands to choose from; I bought a Boliy inverter series in 2008. The only trouble with it was my fault, I failed to drain the carb before we went South for the winter. Todays low quality gas can go bad in as little as 30 days. The end result was me buying a new carb ($37) and DIY. If you take time to read the specs you discover it beats Honda, Yamaha, and others of comparable size in many categories. When we were home I ran a test of the Boliy PRO3600SI, it started and ran the 15,000BTU air conditioner in econo-mode. I switched off econo-mode and started the 13,500BTU unit too. The genset quickly recognized the additional load and recovered without a stutter, then settled down to a constant RPM powering both air conditioners. Of course I'd never do that under camping conditions, it was simply a test of the units capability. BTW, that same Boliy is still running fine today.
  9. packnrat, while you are underneath, check the front diff bearing for wear, any side movement indicates it, and seal, should be replaced
  10. Reliable long-term use of a TPMS requires metal valve stems, rubber stems flex.
  11. That indicates the vent may be plugged, which can cause pressure in the housing. I try to remember to spin the cap on the vent every time I grease the chassis.
  12. Nearly all my money is in "aggressive" mutual funds, I've got much less after last month, at least on paper. I'll hang in though, not much choice anyway.
  13. Two years ago, when KY had all that construction ongoing, new bridge wasn't even open, KYDOT had a detour sign directing me to take a exit on S I 65 from I 64 W, That detour routed me into downtown Louisville, you shoulda seen the pedestrians look at the 40'DP towing a chevy truck. It took me a half hour to get back to an interstate. Those two I 65 bridges are on the KY side of the state border, KY sets the tolls and controls the bridges. jp suggested a good alternative, it perhaps adds 20 miles vs staying on I 65. In a few years KY and IN will have the bypass on the East side( I 264) completed, it also is expected to be a toll bridge across the Ohio river. I wonder if the proposal by the previous president to make all interstates toll roads is taking root at the state level?
  14. I edited my reply to make irv2.com a hot link to that exact thread. The man even pasted a clip from the license requirements attempting to back up his claim. I've given up on trying to correct folks who refer to the RV drivers license as a CDL__.🤢 It's so simple it either goes over or under their heads.
  15. ON irv2.com a man from TX claims drivers license from other states may not be valid if the TX drivers laws state you must have a CL B TX license. The discussions got so heated the moderator closed the thread. Any feed back from the experts who possess one? Most, including me, have the impression drivers license from all states are reciprocal.
  16. Back when I was working-post-military retirement, a co-worker decided he would retire at 65 to get as much SS as he could. Well, he did retire at 65, the next month he was found dead in his front yard where he had been planting flowers---with his first retirement check in his shirt pocket. Another co-worker worked until he was 70, mandatory age for Westinghouse. He and I were talking one day during lunch, he said he didn't know what he would do after Westinghouse made him retire, as he had no hobbies or interests outside of work. I suggested he establish a goal of having the best-looking yard on his block, then his neighborhood, then the entire city. His lit up and he walked away smiling. That's both sides of that coin. Me, I retired from the Army, then Westinghouse, then their successor/ABB at 58, then raised cattle until 60; I've never looked back. Since then I've been a truck driver pulling a 5er, now a bus driver for current rig; or so says my BIL.
  17. Take a deep breath and relax. I really doubt anyone even knows someone who has had a small trailer stolen while attached to the tow vehicle. Your vehicle insurance policy should cover any trailer while attached to it, double check with them to make sure. A cheap padlock through the trailer hitch will deter a casual thief; nothing will deter a determined thief.
  18. Getting off-topic_ but I must correct a misconception. Triple-towing is the tractor/power unit towing 3 trailers, double-towing is 2 trailers, one trailer is single towing. One cannot include the power unit as being towed, otherwise when one is simply driving a car it would be classified as towing. Several RVing websites perpetuate this myth. ref: https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/sites/fmcsa.dot.gov/files/docs/Vehicle_Configuration_508CLN.pdf
  19. LED brake/tail lights could be wired into the OEM lights. Rear view camera, IMO wireless is the way to go; I have a Voyager system that works fine on our 40' MH, it does require 12V pos and neg for camera power, the monitor uses a cigar lighter plug for power.
  20. IMO the battery charger is not working. Borrow an auto battery charger, hook it up your battery and read voltage. If this voltage is not above 14V on the charger it's not being charged. You don't need a large battery charger, a 10A is fine, just observe charging time limits for the charger. If this does not solve the problem, begin checking for a poor/missing ground to the battery.
  21. Please note the change of enrollment dates in the "full article here" hot link. Open enrollment is now between Nov. 12 to Dec. 10 2018. That was a surprise to me, as the original enrollment date ended Oct. 31.

  23. Saferide is what FMCA is using for their new roadside assistance too. There are a few negative comments in their forums. Their initial offering is $60/yr with corresponding club dues years, ie 3 for 3 max.
  24. Sorry, I jumped from one subject to another. I was thinking about my whole-house water filter at the CG hydrant, it has a clear bowl(my selection mistake) which promotes algae growth inside when exposed to sunlight, regardless of residual chlorine in the city water.
